Two comments that were quite funny to me I want to address. Anyone that tells you there are no differences between amp dacs has never tried more than one amp dac. 😅
This is easily demonstrable listening to the differences between a schiit bifrost and a D90se, or comparing the dx9 and aune s9c, which will slap you in the face.
I haven’t tried other amp dacs aios in this price range to compare this unit to, so I’m not going to say an enthusiast should pick this over something else. But I can share my enjoyment out of my own purchase of the dx9.
Focus on your budget, don’t get fomo, and try to research what’s best for your budget.
I can tell you I've definitely heard differences in pretty much all the gear I've tested. It could be for some people that their headphones or iems really just don't have the resolution to hear the differences clearly or their listening ability is just not great. Also some combos do sound similar while some sound totally different. Biggest difference I've heard is going from the smsl do100 ho100 stack to the burson 3x reference. Night and day difference. Way more resolution, more separation, sharper edges, stronger bass lines, wider sounding stage. There is definitely a reason that people spend big money on audio equipment. Hell I've even heard big differences in cables. Especially the ones connecting your DAC to your amplifier. Go from pure copper to pure silver and you will 100% notice a massive difference.
How does this stack up against the FIIO K9 Pro ESS ? I'm completely torn between the two. Hearing great things about the Fiio, but there are no A/B comparisons.
@@kunalshrivastava6398the Topping is better . The K9 is conveniently packaged it’s very cool . I have the DX9 but I’m also going to get the R9 for fun as I’ve got disposable cash . The DX9 is better though . I’m partial to the AKM chips they managed to find and install in it .

I bought this thing soon after it went up on Apos. I had an a90d/d90le stack before but I have been wanting essentially that in an all in one so when i saw this thing i knew i had to have it.
It absolutely lived up to my expectations and i dont see myself ever parting with it.

I have the same D90se+A90d and its was good stak. Yesterday I bought DX9, and I was not disappointed. Good looking DAC, and that's it. For me sounds like D90se.

It really depends on your budget but the fiio k11 and dx3 pro+ are superior to on board audio

Considering this one for my 64 Audio U12t IEMs. I've been having trouble determining if sounds are coming from above or below in games, both with the U12t and Yanyin Canon II. DACs I've used are Moondrop Dawn Pro, Hiby FC6, and Questyle M12i, all of which are dongles at a much lower price point. I've tried a variety of tips, which helped a bit, but not enough. How does the DX9 compare to other DACs you've used in this respect?

Hi Fresh, I'm new to audiophile stuff, and I'm looking for a balanced 4-pin XLR cable. After a quite long research, I narrowed down my options, the Blue Jeans and the Tripowin. The price of the Blue Jeans is more than double that of the Tripowin. Do you think the difference in sound quality is noticeable between the two? Or do you have a personal recommendation besides these? Your answer is greatly appreciated.
I don’t think you’d notice much of a difference personally. I haven’t tried either of the two personally, but I’ve been happy with my Tripowin $19 IEM cables from them

with the streamdeck+ you have there, can you use it at the same time you use the amp/dac for your iems?
i mean, streamdeck+ to control the different audio sources (in case of streams, by the host wavelink software) + (the audio interface that would be the mic) and separately and at the same time your dac/amp for your headphones, or is it impossible to configure something like that? 🤗
Yes! That’s how I use it now. I route everything to the amp dac by listening to the stream monitoring in the amp dac.

Excellent review, mate! I ordered the DX9 from Amazon and it'll be delivered today. I've got a Topping E70 Velvet and had the AKM D90 but it got crushed by clumsy movers back in 2021. I still have reservations abiout spending so much $$ on the DX9, especially when I won't use the headphone function at all. I'm a speakers only guy. I'll use the DX9 for my PC gaming/music rig. Hope it sounds as good to me as it does to you!

I ordered the K9 AKM so wish me luck. Testing it against the DX3pro+ and K7BT. So you prefer the AK dacs over the sabre dacs for any reason? The dx3pr+ is the only ess you recommend and it is a different feel for sure. Clincial people say and less powerful bass but tight. I like both for differnt applications.

I don’t feel it is. It’s nice having an efficient power source and dac as there are definitely gains over on board. Few solid budget options. Smsl c200, ifi zen dac v2, dx3 pro + smsl do400

Two versions of it exist, a single and a double sided (magnet on one or both sides).
Cable from Viking weave, pads from ZMF, custom drivers with gold and completely designed by one guy, made in the US (except the driver which is made in the UK and the gold and original alcantara from Italy).
But they need a ton of power. At least a A70 pro (like he recommends at least 12 VRMS).

If I pair this and the harmonicdyne zeus elites, how much better would the setup sound coming from 2019 astro a40trs with mixamp running through pc with optical. I stick to usb only.
I2S, i.e the 'hdmi' connection is not how that works. You need a dedicated audio streamer that supports I2S, it just happens to use a hdmi port.

It depends on what headphones you use, I bought Fiio K9 Pro ESS before but I sold it because gaming got worse when I used XENNS Top+k9 pro , I mean worse than my on board(Z790)

Pc audio is default and on 100. I’m using filter 3 now and low gain at the moment

I'm a/bing the DX3Pro+ and the Fiio K7BT and I don't know if it's an ESS vs AKM thing but ths bass responses between the two are super different. The Fiio is way more huge sounding than the Topping. I don't dislike either but it just caught me off guard. Almost like the Fiio is the sound we are all used to or expecting to hear then the Topping is very reserved but super exacting if that makes sense. Not sure if it's a chip thing or a Topping thing.
So I guess my question is would the DX9 sound more like the DX3pro+ or more like the K9 AKM since the DX9 has a legendary AKM chip? Sorry to hit you with all this but reddit and YT has been failing me and I trust your insight.

I’m not sure. You’d need some sort of a usb adapter to the iPad from the dac amp and I just don’t know if iPads recognize it but maybev
You think this sounds better than the Geshelli stack?
Geshelli with my mods was super clean for gaming. My only issue though was the decoding through OBS didn’t work for streaming

There’s a couple of questions that i would like to ask regarding the dx9
1. From what i researched from asr reviews and head-fi there’s a lot of people saying that all topping sounds the same and there’s a comment from joshua valour he says that the dx9 is just a better version of the dx3 pro+ (which i have and enjoyed very much). So is this true or is it just haters that don’t like the price of dx9?
2. How does it compare to aune s9c pro, xduoo ta-22, ifi neo idsd 2, and fiio k9 pro and can you hear the difference?

Audio is so daunting to me. It's all so expensive, but also very worth. This topping aio is gorgeous, and so is the geshelli labs combo you reviewed not too long ago. Now knowing all have different sounds makes it even harder to pick. Is there anything worth looking at in the low budget category? I've mainly been looking in used equipment that's how poor I am 😅
I'm used to only onboard audio via phone or my pc, so I know I'm missing out. Life's a bit cruel, so I'm unable to make money right now. Looking to slowly upgrade everything I own in the future though and this is my number one place to go. Your reviews just make sense to me
Hold on a minute. What headphones/iems are you running first ? Because if they're super entry level and or gaming stuff, it's very unlikely worth investing into amp/dac.

@@TheSakuraBirb Well my advice to you is get the best IEMs or HPs you can afford first and don't think too much about dac/amp for now. Amps and DACs become relevant when you get drivers that are sufficiently high enough in technicalities and or when you've figured out what sort of sound signature you like the most (that last part comes from just experiencing stuff, either by attending to event such as Canjams or by visiting your local shops).
If you still decide to splurge money on amp/dac, with what you've right now i would look into dongles instead. You certainly don't need beefy amps such as seen in this video, it would be a massive overkill, even if you go for entry level topping and such.

IF your really after soundstage/imaging, you gotta try a R2R DAC. It makes a world of difference vs delta-sigma DACs, the Gustard R26 made me get rid of my RME in a heartbeat!
I hear NOTHING but good things about the r26. I might pick one up.
@@FreshReviewsYT It's rare for something to meet the hype that it gets but this certainly is it. Going from the RME to the R26 felt like I had upgraded my amp lol. Make sure to run it in NOS as well and you will love the sound that it makes. Definitely one of the best upgrades I ever did to my system. Sounds are so organic and natural, you can hear the reverb come off each instruments, its spectacular.

Splendor 2 is not usable on topping dx3 pro plus, zero blue are great on it, zero red and moondrop lan also very good.
But splendor 2 soud is destroyed completely.

The burson is significantly richer in bass. Moving to a class a amp is a massive step. Absolute beautiful unit, and something that made the he1000se feel insane. There is massive noise with IEMs on the burson however and an ifi iematch is necessary
I've only found one solution to this "issue" with a company called violectric. Blacks out the noise on iems like a topping along with controllable gain so you don't blow out the drivers, but can drive high end headphones such as susvara/modhouse tungsten. Would probably have to go with the middle-high end lines though as the entry level may be too warm for gaming.@@FreshReviewsYT
