Speaking of Japan, just three nights ago, I was in a small restaurant, and near the end of the meal, complimented the chef and mentioned something about the background music (80' American pop and rock) ... and in Japanese, we continued chatting about music, I mentioned I preferred jazz, and he suddenly switched to perfect English, and said he had studied at USC-Irvine under Kei Akagi. I just about did a back-flip. Even more than Akagi's work with Miles, I am a big fan of Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, and so was familiar with Akagi's work with them. Thinking of starting a Japanese-English vlog with the former music student and now restaurant owner as the first guest. Cheers again, and though a bit late ... Happy New Year to ya!
