I see MK the pianist and dums going drunk with EC solo, only if you are in a show of EC you can understand this feeling, I remember get drunk with his solos, it's like he put his pain of had a desgraceful life about not having a dad, his mom is his sister, and his son dying into blues, and then you disgrace cry too, and everybody soul cry together with pentatonic bends crying across stadiums.
You don`t have to be born poor to feel the blues. Clapton is still the best exponent of the art this country has ever produced, and he has experienced low points in his life. He discovered his Mum wasnt actually his Mum !, and he went through a deep depression in the late 60`s. He grew up listening to the blues greats on valve radio, like Robert Johnson, Barbecue Bob, Blind Lemon, and others. Anyone who says this guy aint qualified, just doesnt get it.
I am old-enough to have seen some of the Chess greats in Chicago as a kid, Muddy Waters, people like that - and Eric Clapton has that same dignity and gravitas now that those performers did in their later years. And as this performance proves, he still has that fire in this playing and singing, too. I saw him live twice in the 1980s and I think he sounded every bit as good here in this video. Do wish he'd given Mark K. a solo break, though!
Mmmm find it hard to argue that one. Astonishing artists in their own right. Together live well that's a showcase of brilliance. Two of the greatest artists/guitar players ever is alright with me mate 👍
Sometimes someone comes along and plays a solo so beautifully that it brings tears to my eyes. It’s not just that Clapton is a great guitarist, it’s the man pours his guts out on stage so that everyone paying attention is seeing his soul exposed for all to see. My God, it doesn’t get any better than this.
Best show ever. Great song writer, great guitar player, great song, great performance, great orchestra… Amazing skills and feelings. God bless Mr. Mark Knoplfer for all the times!
Honestly, I'd turn up just to hear EC sing - I've seen him a number of times since the early 80's, and he's never failed to deliver, vocally. I think he is criminally overlooked, for the gift of his rich, ever-mellower voice. Check the sheet music for his output - he can sing in any damn key he wants to!
Hew is not overlooked. He`s been considered the second best Guitarist in Rock , Pop and blues since he started Cream in 1966. He was only challenged by Jimi Hendrix during the late sixties and the year 1970. After Hendrix tragic death EC has then been the most influencial Guitarist of all time.
@@sellammar1 Please, read what I said. Yes, he's a fantastic, and very highly rated guitarist, and I have a great deal of his albums and have seen him several times. My point was about his VOICE. I said if ALL he did was sing, he should still be seen as one of the best voices in Rock & Blues.
Always preferred his Fender Lace Sensor pickups as demonstrated so well here. Same as used on his 24 Nights concert. Must be great to be able to mesmerize a packed audience at the Royal Albert Hall
You're so right. When it comes to large arena performances Ray Cooper is the percussion man - magical is the only word I can think to describe his playing - always giving a sense of presence and occasion.
Well,.... after all that year's Eric is still standing straight up. The man did have to overcome a lot of drama. But.... still on the road and he still amazes me time after time. Eric Clapton on lead, Phil Collins on drums and who knows who else on stage with these guys, so great to have stumbled across this, thank you. Love your show.
My only hope is that Mark Knopfler's in town that day. If he showed up to play with Mr. Clapton I will have checked two items off my bucket list at the same time. Pretty please.

These guy's are my friends and have been for 50 years. The older we get the more polished we get. The rough edges left years ago, now it's just the music. Eric's solos have to be simplified. If he was playing his full potential the guitar would burst into flames
