    This is about the time that Clapton found himself again. For all those that think that Clapton only played well from 1965 thru 1970, feast your eyes on this. For me, late 1980’s thru early 90’s, he had surpassed all of his previous playing.

      On a recent interview where he talked about "Freddie King" he said; "i discovered that I was very late (concerning his style) because Freddie had already done it long ago. Now I just want to do a good job of it".
      If you listen closely to Freddie King. you will many similarities with EC. and Freddie wasn't copying Eric either.
      Eric finally got better when he discovered that there were lots of others as good and or were better than him. Today he is better than ever. ;-)

      Clapton is not that good it’s all average he’s just a house hold name so his fame will never go away but even his 60 peers I can name 12 people that would wipe the floor with him

    Behind the Sun is a great album, one that I think most of us appreciate more as the time passes. The "over production" is less a problem as we get further away from it.

    Far too few clicks. Love the atmosphere, love the solos of EC, Greg and Nathan and how the audience forces Phil Collins as the last member of the band to play a solo (16:45).

  • @Daverotherham
    @Daverotherham 10 місяців тому +1

    Trust Phil Collins to lose the groove after 17 minutes of magic. Definitely the weakest link in this band. I will never forgive him for nailing what was almost Clapton’s masterpiece to the floor on Like A Prisoner.

    love his voice! why do ppl keep saying he cant sing, ugggh haha
    Anyways..Main comment was, everbody killed it on this song, what a masterpiece.Clapton burned the piece up lol

    The original studio version on the album “Behind The Sun”is hard to top.. there were a lot of emotional things going on behind the scenes which added to the vocals and solos on most of the tracks.

    • @nickavenoso7851
      @nickavenoso7851 2 роки тому +6

      I just wish the studio version had acoustic drums instead of electronic drums. The electronic drums are fine, but for me I don’t think you can get the same emotion that can you get with acoustic drums compared to electronic drums.

      @@nickavenoso7851 Agree, not on rock n roll or blues. They work on some dance music or pop.

      Very surprising that Clapton would have even aloud electronic percussion in the studio! He is such a purist!

    • @StPeteG8r
      @StPeteG8r 2 роки тому +3

      Clapton’s was upset with the band because they did not believe in his newfound sobriety enough to do drugs and drink alcohol in front of him. That built up some resentment and intern added to his fierce vocals & fiery solos during the recording of this album in Montserrat.

    Qui doutera après son solo au chant et à la basse que Nathan East est un « énorme » bassiste. Eric « Slowhand » brillantissime bien que dans une période pas claire comme l’eau qu’il ne buvait pas! Dans une période où Phil Collins le produisait qui a été courte ils ont été très proche musicalement et Clapton était tres jazzyˋ
