- Proper preparation of your deck is key to a long-lasting stain coating!
How to test moisture content in wood decks? Have you ever wondered if a wood surface is dry enough to paint or stain after a rainy couple of days? It may be dry to the touch but a wood substrate (or surface) needs to be technically dry before applying a coating ----or it will eventually fail! Don't rush to paint until you test it or give it at least 3-4 days after rainfall. In high humidity areas of the country, that time period can be even longer.

You could have shortened the video to just 50 seconds if you would have let us believe you, rather than struggling to show us the meter.
How many different places do you test the wood on a deck that size?
Nice work. I've got one like that. Sure helps out.
It sure takes the worry out of the process.
Very informative video, thank you
I always test accross the grain, you get a truer reading that way and always test in the middle of your board, the ends dry out faster
Seems like a surface meter would be better for construction so you would not have to punch holes in your noards.
