I worked really hard the past two years and I don’t want someone to look at my results and then think “oh, class of 2020 where they made up everyone’s grades”!

My course needed AAA. I got A* A and B in my mocks. Got my results and they gave me BBC. Literally has messed my first choice up that I really wanted to get. I am amazed that all the great minds that control our society are still using this method of one test determins your whole life deal. In a way it's not based on intelligence at all. And then there are many types of intelligence and other attributes that make a person. I think countless people are just brushed aside because of this one test that says oh there not good enough for this college or that college. This job or that job. But a person who has the charisma and smarts of a lemon but can remember what the book says and copy and paste it on the leaving cert exam. Oh but this person can become whatever they want. in my last psychology mocks i got an A and a B, my teacher being a very harsh marker. they gave me a C. in my last english language mock i also got a B, and a B in all my coursework. they gave me a C for that too. i was lucky enough to be offered a place at my firm choice university as i was a young carer for the majority of the time i was at college and the admissions team was kind. i am very lucky and i feel so sorry for anyone who did not get a spot on their course and had their career prospects ruined just because they didn’t go to private school, and because ofqual ruined their chances at having a good future.
Was it the Algorithm that is wrong, or did the teachers incorrectly predict the expected grades, in turn giving these students false hope to the real outcome, yes it’s shame either way, but unfortunately that is the problem with guesstimate grades, some were bound to get higher with others to get lower than predicted. Exams have been screwed this year, there's literally nothing anyone can do other than everyone retake exams which won't be happening, other than that most people will be stuck with their crap grades.
We ordered 200 000 'A' grads. However, they were delivered late and when they were inspected it turns out that they weren't fit to be used in education. Goops! Sorry got confused with exams and PPE for a moment.

I was a lazy student but I still wanted to do well and so I gave not a jot of effort to my mock exams unless that subject had specific rules around it and saved all my effort for my final exams.

How can previous school performance or past grades at gcse affect the last two years of work. What a messed up system. It's like they are being punished for not taking the exams. Their whole future depends on these grades. I feel sad for them, especially as the teachers think it's wrong as well. They know their students the best.

What if that university place had gone to someone who actually wanted to become a mechanical engineer, and added value to society via innovation? (The transferable skills concept is over-hyped malarkey). The whole system is broken with miscued signals. Universities even advertise how many people they have got into employment and their starting salaries - the whole purpose of an education has been totally lost. The employers ramp up their requirements as a result: where previously a job required a BSc. now requires an MSc. forcing more debt without any immediate gain. This cycle has perpetuated itself with no end in sight. What is going on?

Hello through colonisation yeah, one of the most important things that brought wealth to the UK, and they don’t even teach it in schools here.
This situation is just revealing the appallingly class rid and unequal nature of British Society. The majority of the population deal with constant situations that are rigged against them.

@@allmendoubt4784 the conservatives know that poor and working class don't vote for them so they keep them at the bottom of the pile and don't give a sh%$t. All these years I thought the runting of people stating that the rich and elites want the poor to stay poor was a conspiracy but this just shows the blatant truth, I hope people learn their lessons. But people forget quick after the student tuition rise and loss of maintenance Grant's people still voted in the same party that made these policies.
Corrupt teachers’ marking has simply been exposed. The students marked by the algorithm have been handed their true worth. Sorry, blame the over generous education system or students lacking confidence in their own ability and thus gambling against themselves by refusing the offer of August exams.
The updated statistics actually show pupils from a working class background done slightly better than those from wealthier backgrounds....
