  • Jon Kosmoski of House of Kolor promotes S2-SG100 Intercoat Clear. Pitches S2-SG100. Medium to low solid ratio for reducer. Use as karrier for pearls and kandies, Compliance. No catalyst required. Mixing demonstration, ratios, coats, 301 is slow, 100 is fast, viscosity, use over sealer, let solvent flash, lab tests, follow times between coats, like liquid plastic.

Excellent info on the taping over this stuff. I use it for doing flames on motorcycles. Lay your base, lay one coat of intercoat, then tape the flames, then paint flames, then two wet coats of clear . sometimes 3.

@Big Worm , question, after laying a coat of this, and if it sets for a few days before taping out graphics, should i sand before taping? and after spraying the graphics and peeling the tape, can i then spray the top clear coat? thanks buddy

There is no other paint or product better than House Of Kolor.
If the sealer (KD3001) sat for 1 year can it be sanded, then paint without a problem ?
I primed a motorcycle fender last year with KD 3001 thinking I could sand and paint the next year, hope I was right.
    4 YEARS LATER , NO ANSWER ?

So the intercoat is NOT a 2 part epoxy? (I airbrush) It mixes with Candys and such...The mixture ratio is only with reducer.

If I paint a scketch layer in white before I add any color and leave it for a day or so is it necessary to scuff the white paint just like the sg100

Can I add kandy koncentrate in c2c sg100 to make kandy paint or no?

Excellent product but not available locally. If you are in a project and run out you are screwed.
Do not start with it if you do not have access locally. It is not available. Only online . . Product is excellent but I can not finish the job. really SUX. I will have to look for another system available. PPG? Eastwood? I will never use HOK again

When John says 1:1 mix when using as kandy or pearl carrier, does he mean 1 part S2 sg100 and 1 part reducer? if so how much Kandy concentrate is recommended for a quart of 1:1 mix? 4 ounces?

Manuel Cerda 1 to 1 means say 1 quart sg100 and 1 quart reducer, mix pearl of flakes in to your liking ..

how long should the intercoat be on before i spray over it ....using it as a sealer

The inter coat is basically a base, so same applies. 45 minutes is good. If you go much longer, scuff it and maybe spray a light mist coat of bulldog. It's really good stuff, but try to think of it as a clear basecoat. It's not a builder, it has no catalyst so if you hammer a lot of it on there, you could expect some shrinkage.

Can i use the Shimrin2 SG100 in stead of the FX Karrier base when i'm mixing my pearl or kandy base coat ?

You can, I have with no problems. The only thing that may get you, if you are using flakes and pearls....when you come in with your clear and get a nice wet coat, the solvent from the clear can often loosen the flake and they will shift or lay down. The Karrier has something in it that prevents this. If you've ever painted a car in gold or silver or something, the base looks fine but if you get a wet clear onto it, the metallic moves and when you get it into the sun you see areas that look dark or blotchy, even though your gun technique was good. This was the solvent loosening the flake and letting it slide or lay down. If you want to just use it on candies, I would say go for it. But be careful with flake.

For regular pearl mixed for over white or black and for Kandy pigments it works fine. I usually use standard sg-100
