Hey, it’s Tony with another blog. Today’s topic is How-To Spray MIDCOAT & Basecoat - DBC 500 INTERCOAT Spraying.
We are using the DBC 500, which is a clear basecoat that we will be using as a midcoat to put our X Finishes Moon Dust White Pearl in to go over our white basecoat. So, we’re turning our white basecoat into a pearl by adding a midcoat.
You can eliminate this step if you are experienced. You can basically mix in your pearl or flake into the clearcoat. However, if you run it, you’ll have a flake or pearl run which will be hard to fix.
If that happens, you’ll need to let it dry, sand it down and reshoot base and redo it again. Once you run that pearl or flake, you can’t buff or sand it out.
For the newbies, I recommend using midcoat. You don’t have to worry about running it because you can spray a few light coats to get your achieved pearl effect.
We’re using the Atom X20 HVLP Spray Gun when coating our white based mirrors with some pearl. We’ll give everything two coats of pearl including the top portion of the cab.
Then, we’ll spray our silver basecoat on the bottom portion of the Daihatsu Mini Truck. After which, we’ll mask everything up for our centerpiece that will be a teal color.
We’ll then finish it off and proceed with the clear coat using our Atom X21 HVLP Spray Gun. If you would like to learn more about these awesome Atom X Finishes Spray Guns as well as the X Finishes Pearls and Flakes, head on over to Zoolaa.
The top section of our bed will also be white. I’m also hitting this with some quick pearl effect. The middle part of the truck will be a teal and the bottom will be silver.
Remember to always check your paint. You don’t want to be painting a full panel and then suddenly run out. It won’t hurt your paint job, but it will better not to run out when painting a large panel.

Is the air pressure the same for all guns? 26 - 28, 27-29?
Or does the size of the tip/needle determine the air pressure?

Good stuff Tony, so the clear coat was thin so your movements was alot faster that you don't run how many coats do put on for the clear ?
2 coats of clear. I have not sprayed clear yet. This was midcoat with pearl.
Ever use kirker? I work with it and seems great and lasts for a few years!( What economy do you like?( I'm not good at all with the water base paint! Any idea what.my.problem is? That's great video!!!!!!

Is the DBC 500 good for use with metal flake application & coverage? Burrying the flake?
My finish clear may be the...oh my clear.

I have an airbrushed peace, I it's pearl with a candy coat, what mid coat should I use? then what clear coat should I use?

Is it a good idea to spray the inside of our garage door to check our fan pattern? I thought it would be better to hang a piece of masking paper instead! Why spray the door?
Didn't have time for paper. No big deal to me. I could have sprayed the window paper.
Do u mix the inter coat with harder or reducers
Hey Man! *Reducers and Hardener info*
👉 Fast: Touch up jobs. Single fenders, bumper cover, door and small blend jobs
👉 Medium: For complete paint jobs in 70 - 88 degrease
👉 Slow: For complete paint jobs in hotter temperatures 90 + when you need time for flowout

What sze alan wrench is to remove the gold piece were the tip goes i did not get one abd the ones for my other gun do not work
The tip comes off with a 12mm wrench.
How can i get a chrome one like urs i like it better then the grey ones who ever decided to change colors had a bad idea unless it was to save 💰
Actually the flat color costs more and is the newer version. The standard is the dark grey model. My chrome is the first gen model. The X21 is chrome and will remain chrome.
What psi?

BOSS PAINTER - Learn Auto Body And Paint! I know what psi is but what psi r u spraying also i found the fault in my gun the tip is bad or dirty i just left in clean lacquer to c if its dirty since it was heavy at the bottom but if i turn the tip its heavy on top u think it has warranty?
No warranty after it is used man... Dude you need to CLEAN your guns. The TIP won't go bad unless you DROP IT. Keep them clean. Clean it and it should be good. Aren't you a VIP member?
