I had a baseball coach at USC that would scare me to this day. He'd come out to the mound during a game and tell you if you dont throw a strike this next pitch I'm pullin your mtrfkn scholarship. In fact that is a bad example because he was much meaner than that lol.
that's pretty interesting because conventional advice is praise in public, criticize in private. Looks like saban criticizes in public. The benefit is the whole team learns from one person's mistake. The cost is a more stressful situation for the target. I can see it working if you have a tight relationship with the target.

A lot of times players will mess up or make a boneheaded play in practice , then they play hurt to receive sympathy instead of getting yelled at by coach.

I went to a recruiting camp at LSU and Saban was cussing out the recruits, we were all sitting there like "does he want us to go here?"

He was checking to see if y’all were saban material
Remember Miami Dolphins Nick had DT Manuel Wright cry. Wright was 6’6” 310 pounds.

Anyone who says anything remotely negative about Deion makes Rich cry.
Now Brian Kelly just makes fans cry failing to live up to the own hype he creates
