Undertale (stylized as UnderTale or UNDERTALE) is a role-playing video game developed and published by indie developer tobyfox. The game was written, designed and composed for by creator Toby Fox, with additional art by Temmie Chang, and was released for Microsoft Windows and OS X on 15 September 2015.
In Undertale, the player controls a human child as they navigate the fictional Underground: a large, secluded region underneath the surface of the Earth. The inhabitants of the Underground are called "monsters", who have been banished from the surface following a war with humanity. The child interacts with many monsters on their quest to return to the surface, with the player making decisions on whether to kill or befriend them. These choices affect the outcome of the game to a large degree, with the dialogue and story outcome changing based on their decisions.
Undertale received acclaim from video game critics, with particular praise for its writing and characters. Reviewers enjoyed the game's intuitive yet deep combat system, the contrast of its witty humor with a dark story, as well as its references to older role-playing games (such as EarthBound and Shin Megami Tensei) while still having a modern feel.
Undertale features traditional role-playing mechanics, such as experience points, an overworld, equipment, and health, though with several differences. The game casts players in the role of a child as they explore an underground world full of monsters who they can either kill or befriend. The overworld lets the player navigate in a top-down perspective, visiting locations such as towns, shops, and large buildings. Progression through the game requires interacting with puzzles and non-player characters, moving forward through locales. Save points appear frequently in the overworld, refilling the player's health while saving the player's progress.
During battles in Undertale, the player controls a small heart which represents the protagonist's soul and must avoid attacks unleashed by the opposing monster-in a similar fashion to a bullet hell. As the Undertale story progresses, new elements are introduced, such as colored obstacles which require the player to stand still or move through them, and boss battles which change the way the heart is controlled. In Undertale, the player may choose to attack the enemy, which involves timed button presses, earning experience points and gold for defeating them. Alternatively, they can use the Act option to perform non-violent actions, which vary depending on the enemy. If the player uses the right actions to respond to the enemy, they can choose to spare them and end the fight without killing them-earning no experience points. This would be considered a Undertale "pacifist run". The game features various story branches and endings depending on whether the player chooses to kill or spare their enemies, and it is possible to clear the game without killing a single enemy. In the "genocide run" of Undertale, players actively seek out all monsters in the underground to systematically kill until none remain.
The Undertale genocide blind run features noticeable dialogue and story changes in comparison to other routes.
This gameplay of let's play Undertale Genocide Run is a blind walkthrough/playthrough. I have completed the "normal" pacifist/neutral and the true pacifist run and am using knowledge from those two runs to aid my heartbreaking journey here.

God the game is playing you so hard lol. Here's a tip, if you wanna be played even harder why not check enemy descriptions? Your opinion of them, especially of the bosses, might be different now.

One hit Toriel is only genocide. In the Libarby one book states that depending on how much you hate the monster the more damage they will take. The lesser opponents are just little obstacles you boredly slash through. Chara however would find Toriel to be a major nuisance and knew them very personally. Similarly to the sans fight where you a shit ton of damage because that comedian pissed them off so god damn much. Which is why even if you attack normally with Undyne while in her house you only do one damage. You have already decided that you do not want to hurt them but instead want to be friends. So at all force you still can't muster any intent to hurt.

So... I reset a horrible, horrible ending for a good ending, and then a nightmarishly twisted version of a VERY good ending D:

You should also Check the Mad Dummy and RG01 and RG02, when you get there. And when you encounter Shyren, try humming with her a couple times before killing her.
Also, the Froggits are intimidated by Toriel because she's the former queen. She scared one off because it attacked you.

On the subject of the froggits being afraid of Toriel, she's got some serious juice she casually pwns both Flowey and Asgore in the pacfist run. Also I lvoe her and she's very nice to you, but remember her objection to Asgore's plan wasn't the killing. It was his sitting on his ass waiting for humans to come to him in hopes that he would never actually have to kill them, when he could have just taken one soul and crossed the barrier to kill six random humans to get the power to destroy the barrier. She's not afraid to be the hard goat making the hard decsions.

+Charles Baldwin I think it was more that Asgore's limp-wristed cowardice resulted in the worst outcome for everyone. If he had've committed to either peace or war, he could've freed his people or saved the human lives, but by promising war and meekly waiting around in the hope he'd never have to commit, he ended up killing the humans AND leaving his own people in misery for an unnecessarily long time. He committed murders she could never forgive and he didn't even get the most good he could out of it. (I'm pretty sure the only reason he managed to even keep his throne was because everyone liked him as a person too much to overthrow him. The ruling part, he doesn't seem too great at.)
wow, i thought dialogs would be the same and you'd just go around killing untill the end and then get diferent ending, but everything changed when toriel died. i didnt expect that. i cant wait to see how the story unfolds further

*_way_* late on this response, but the reasons the Froggits are afraid of Toriel include the fact that not only is she a Boss Monster (one of only two living ones, her and Asgore; and Boss Monster's are really _really_ strong), but also because she was the Queen

You only kill Toriel in one hit in a Genocide run. In fact, she's what stopped my genocide run... DEAD... in it's tracks. What, too soon? Also, in a neutral run, you can't kill Napstablook because he's incorporeal and all that.

This game is so meta, i can't it calls the player out so much it hurts
actually if you keep sparing toriel, to the point where she stops attacking you. you can still attack her, and when you do her dialogue is different. its really sad ;-;
Toriel may be very nice, but she is a boss monster. The other monsters really don't want to get on her bad side.
Plus she's less nice to Monsters compared to Asgore who is very nice
@@Gamebuilder2000 I don't know if I'd say that. We don't hear much about Toriel from the other monsters. Yes, she gives a death glare at that Froggit, but it was threatening the human. Then she's mean to Asgore, but we know the reason for that.
@@Krendall2 yeah but Froggit says that all the monsters in the RUINS are too intimidated to talk to her, which must mean there's some negativity there and it can't just be because she's a strong Boss Monster because everyone in the Underground loves Asgore to bits.
Sure I guess you could say Whimsun Loox or Froggit would be intimidated but I can't see Vegitoid, Loox or Migosp being unless there was a reason

i am still struggling with this whole genocide thing. have stopped my own playthrough of it after like 10 minutes because my heart couldn't take it, but on the other side and as a gamer i really want to know whats gonna happen when you choose the "no mercy"-path, just like you said in the beginning. to see and hear someone fighting with the same issues, it kinda fills me with determination. thanks, human!

In the future, if you hold the up and down keys at the same time you can make your character flip around on every frame. Go left and right while doing that and you'll get encounters much more quickly. It can hurt your eyes in some places, though.

The Toriel one-shot is only in genocide.
Flowey never showed up until the end on my genocide run. It began just with toriel showing up.
That's what will happen if the last run you did was a neutral run where you killed flowey
this ending gives me the biggest rush, not even because of the bosses...
why do I think that this is my favorite route?
The fact that most monsters are intimidated by toriel is due to two reasons; 1, she is a species of monster known as a Boss Monster, all of which are goats, see asgore and asriel as well for examples. 2, because she is the ex-queen of the underground, and could be considered the queen of the ruins
I'm not sure if someone commented this somewhere but... Just for the sake of it, in case someone watching is wondering about why she dealt so much damage. In Snowdin's "Librarby" there are two books with quite important facts that help us understand important things in the game: the "Monster's Funerals" one (not spoiling that here, but read that one and reread the story about the human and Asriel), and another one talking about "Soul Power". The Soul Power one mention that when someone doesn't want to fight, their defense and offense drops... (Asgore, for one. And Toriel herself here.) And by the same logic, it says that if someone with a powerful intent to kill attacks someone it will cause HUGE amounts of damage to their soul. It's like your sheer intent to kill gives you power to through "Determination", while in the pacifist route that's used to 'Save'.

that intro speech you gave here (assuming you remember lmao this was 8 years ago) about how, upon hearing people suggest you watch instead of play so you dont get the heartache of doing it yourself, you responded with acknowledging that either way you are willing to forgo the happy ending just because youre curious as to what will happen so you might as well accept that and do it yourself..?
that was such a good like, read into what the route goes on to tackle! you were so immediately in tune with the idea its designed to get across before you even started its really cool haha.

Watching this to see someone do what I won't... both for the heartarche and for how hard the bosses are. I played this game pacifist mostly blind (I say mostly in that I knew some of the characters' names and knew to be a pacifist for the best ending) and I was also suspicious of Toriel! I kept making jokes that she had other kids trapped in her basement.
I couldn't breath during most of this game. It was so sad and broke my heart how fast Toriel had died. Plus how Sans didn't think Frisk was human.

I mean, Genocide is bad in the way that... It's heartbreaking, it makes you feel guilty like never before, it's not rewarding, for the most part, it's not even fun, it's way too hard, etc.
But even though it makes you feel like a demon and trash at the same time, it gives cool lore! So all worth it.

Havent played this game but after seeing your pacifist run (out of curiousity) i have to say - full on extermination is the only way to play it. These critters are unbearable.

The Froggits are intimidated by Toriel because she was the queen. Technically she still is. And she's very powerful. When someone with authority and magical power glares at you, you back the heck off. And since she's lonely and depressed, they probably don't know her personally, so they don't know that she's a sweetheart.

+Materwelonz - @ 13:29 when you talked about the froggits being afraid of Toriel, my guess is it's because she's their Queen and they're intimidated by someone with so much power, authority, and popularity. Many people get nervous or fearful around such people, even when that famous person is about the nicest person you could ever meet.

True. She also didn't say who's souls she'd take. She could very well have gone to a hospital and asked for souls from people about to die anyways, or taken them from criminals like rapists or murderers who she felt didn't deserve to live. Or she may have just murdered 6 random people and been done with it. Or she could have asked until she found 6 volunteers. Who knows?

I didn't see a comment on it so even if it's six years ago here's my opinion on the Toriel scaring froggit thing.
I don't think froggit was scared of Toriel. I think they were ashamed. Toriel is that soft, loving mother - even if she doesn't have a child anymore. So, "attacking" or a child in front of her or even just being mean by blocking their way, Toriel would obviously be upset. She just gave froggit a firm look, I connect that to her way of being a strickt-but-loving mother.
Yes when she looks at the froggit, atleast to me her face is kind of like "what do you think you're doing young man", then it walks away ashamed
Watching this I just realized how much of a humanitarian I really am inside, I could never kill someone who doesn't have violent intensions that's just.........

Here I’ll explain: the lore explains the more you hate a monster, the more your actions will hurt them. So in the genocide run, it’s implied you hate toriel, so you 1-hit her. Then she’s, yk, kinda sad you hate her that much, and says that. But in neutral, you don’t one hit her, so she says your stronger than she thought. In pacifist she says you have proven yourself, because one, you didn’t die, and two, you didn’t die and didn’t kill her. Hope this helped

the reason I thought you should try is that it's a unique experience ^_^ sure, it will be extremely difficult to kill all those friends...but, hey! you can always go back... right? this game is yours now... YOU have control over its existence... if you wish it you can "kill" it and then decide to start over ;) ..... also... wanna kow how you can be more "evil" ? well, it won't really matter to the game but.... if you make a monster's name yellow..... you can one-shot them :) because they'll not be expecting you to backstab them...so, um, I think that buying a spider health item could still be pretty useful ;)
