Yes!! It drove my ex husband crazy! He finally realized the only way id communicate with him is if he was nice. It took him a couple of years but he figured it out and we're civil now thankfully. Our kids are young adults now but there will be plenty of life events that we'll be in the same room for.

I remember years and years ago watching Ellen and she remarked something to her guest, can't remember, but it struck me as odd, because she was smiling, everyone laughed, but her eyes were cold and black.
