Actually it is one of the better thought out designs though out the SW universe
God, I love Mandalorians.

@@ArnandKularajah do Mandalorians also like using corellian designs?
@@merafirewing6591 The rotating cockpit / rotating wings is a Verpine collective trademark, as seen in the B-Wing according to old EU lore.
The Fang Fighter is probably one of my favorite Star Wars starfighters. The only thing that would make it better to me is if it had at least one gun on the main body instead of only the hidden proton torpedo launcher and make it so the wings could fold up to save floor space (but not twist up like the Kom'rk class fighter/transport did (the only peeve I have about that ship, go figure)). Well, that and maybe add an astromech.
I've never understood why so many Star Wars starfighters spread their guns out so much away from the center. X Wing and ARC-170 are some of the worse for this. I say this while ignoring the 'rule of cool' in the design outside of universe; why 'in universe' would you not at least add one more gun in line with the pilot to make 'aiming' easier and close the gap between shots?
Yeah, I completely agree, and have always felt there should be at least a single laser can on the nose of the ship, other than that it’s awesome.
I’m also a huge fan of the Kom’rk, with my only real issue with it being those massively tall wings, can you imagine trying to fit them into most hangers, either on a planet or a ship? I mean it needs more weaponry also, but it has plenty of room for that, and I’ve always thought it should come in 3 versions, 1 being the current transport and maybe add a concussion missile launcher but only a few missiles (so as no decrease it’s carry capacity,) #2 being a heavy fighter with a pair of medium/heavy lasers, and a missile launcher and as many missiles as can be fit in the body, and #3 a bomber version, add a missile launcher, with a small defensive stock of missile for defense, and 1-2 torpedo launchers and just stuff it to overflowing with torpedoes, and finally as heavy an ion cannon or pair of them, that the ship can handle.
Due to it’s large size, it should be able to hold a considerable number of missiles and/or torpedoes, even if some of the space was used for increased power generation. Hell, if you swapped out the cockpit for one like the fang fighter, that you climbed up on the body to enter the cockpit, you could literally probably increase power generation, add a second shield generator and still have room for well over a dozen torpedoes and/or missiles, considering how many smaller ships, such as the Y wing, X wing, etc…, can carry.
Love this ship! The wings and the main fuselage are beautiful!
0:29 My God, the most beautiful scene I've ever seen in my life.
@Chewbacca ;)
I designed my own TIE fighter with a similar wing configuration to this ship, I call it the TIE Saber.
I've always loved Fang fighters. They kinda remind me of Tie Defenders.
Tie defender with a touch of B-wing, lol
Just considerably slower
Easily the best starfighter EVER
Not gonna lie, this is my favorite ship from the SW universe. In the X-Wing miniatures table top game, the Fang Fighter's stats and maneuver dial are almost identical to a Tie Interceptor. They both perform very similar in the game. Like the Interceptor, it can go "pop" very easily, but it's fast, maneuverable, and can be quite deadly. It's the type of ship that can punish you for flying poorly, but reward you for flying well.
It's my favorite starfighter! The design is so cool
I'd always been interested in some stats on this ship, thanks for making a video on it and great video as always.
Also used by the Rebel Alliance which obtained some from Mandalore...very cool, and one of the most underappreciated star fighters in Star Wars.
I love it, along with all the other Mandalorian equipment.
Love this ship
Hands down most underrated star fighter that was used by the Rebel Alliance and also most underrepresented. Amazing overall fighter and should have and hopefully will be seen again perhaps in live action!
Love the design

Try that wing spinning in atmosphere.
Basically the wing maneuvers independently in atmosphere and the body stays stable.

Good design, great design, BEST design!!
The spin attack might be sort of useful in a head on stafe (I guess, honestly that's the dumbest use of the feature), there's a couple tactics that weren't highlighted, which to me are the main features of the cockpit rotation.
1. It allows you to ALWAYS present the smallest edge on profile to your opponent regardless of orientation to hostile ships.
2. You can ALWAYS angle your cockpit into a turn, meaning you are always able to pull max g regardless of facing. I don't think I can stress how important and how much of an edge this would afford a pilot over nearly any hostile fighter. This would allow you to not only fake out a hostile that's chasing you (as they are unable to see the orientation of the cockpit while you can see theirs), but that you can always out-turn and stay on top of a hostile that you're chasing.
I do like that it was mentioned that you can rotate the hull to provide better turning radius, but coupled with the other design traits, this is a monster of a close combat superiority fighter. The only draw back is the amount of time I think it would take to get used to and take advantage of these features. This is definitely more of a picket fighter, compared to the rebels longer range, multi role mission requirements of the x-wing, which fully makes sense as the home planet isn't exactly mobile.
I like this ship. Thanks for bringing semi obscure ships to life for us!! I always look forward to your new videos.
I just love this ship, and mostly everything that the Mandalorians have and are
This is honestly one of my favorite ships to come out of the new Canon along with it's big brother. If I could have any ship from star wars it'd be one of them
I love this ship, and that was a great video. Thanks.
The "official" speed on this is WAY off base. It makes me wonder if whoever came up with those numbers got it confused with the larger Kom'rk fighter. Regardless, a little bit of research on their part would be nice, there's no way a small, lightweight, extremely low profile fighter like this, with three large engines, only clocks in at 900 kph. For reference, the P-51 Mustang has a top speed of 700 kph, and the Supermarine Spiteful at 778 kph. We're to believe this advanced space fighter is barely faster than a couple of WWII prop planes?
According to the same source, here are some other top speeds of Star Wars vehicles for comparison:
Rebel Snowspeeder - 1100 kph
Zam's Airspeeder - 800 kph (also listed at 1200 kph by some sources)
Y-wing - 1000 kph
ARC170 - 1050 kph
T-70 X-wing 1050 kph
Millennium Falcon - 1050 kph
TIE Striker - 1500 kph
T-16 Skyhopper - 1200 kph
TIE Reaper - 950 kph
Anakin's podracer - 947 kph
Those are just a few quick examples I found. When it comes to "official" speed there's clearly a severe lack of consistency. In reality the Fang Fighter should be about equal to a TIE Interceptor's speed, maybe just a hair slower. The X-Wing miniatures game by FFG reflects this well with how the two ships' stats are setup.
1:25 "Now THIS is pod racing!"
(is dragged off and never seen again)
The spinning wings is a cool trick and making the cone of fire to prevent escape is impressive but it would also make it high maintenance as they have to make sure the rotating assembly is in top working order. Even then, what would happen if the assembly gets damaged in the middle of a battle?
I wonder how much cheaper these fighters would be to produce without the rotating wings?
This is why I love the Fang fighter it is just that awesome 👏
I think the Fang fighter is cool and it’s characteristics make it one of the best smalls ships for its time
I like the overall design of these ships
1:50 Plot armor is stronger than veskar armor (I think I spelled it worng)
i noticed how the Fang fighter's lasers are yellow, which is supposed to mean it used high quality tibanna gas, just like the mandalorian pistols on another metanerdz video.
I love these videos dude!
For Mandalore!!

FOR MANDALORE
. . . I need one...
It's a masterpiece of war.
I wish we could fly this ship in Star Wars: Battlefront II.
I think it really cool and deadly
Awesome having the mandalorians having a small starfighter especially since the Lego one isn’t exactly canonical
Insert Heavy weapons guy:" People think they can outsmart me. Maybe... But I have yet to meet the one who can outsmart bullet!" same principle, different area. In Addition, the proton torpedo launcher would've lain waste on the phoenix cell
Aye vod.
This is great!
Would you please do a video on Kihraxz & Vaksai fighters?
Amazing Ship Mandalorians Rule
I like the spinning wing design,if I were piloting this “Fuck-Off” machine,I keep the wings vertical when flying. To me,it has imposing profile like that.
1:55 poor hera 😂😢
It's silly. All those things you described could be achieved with turrets and vectored thrust. The slim profile is nice but only works facing into the target. As soon as you veer off the large wings and wide central fuselage make it just as easy to hit as any other fighter. As for passing through squadrons of fighters there are two far simpler options. Roll sideways, or...don't fly through them. Space is big. Go around. With all the internal space that mechanism eats up you could put something more useful in there, like a stronger reactor or shield emitters or something. If you want a ship that is hard to hit from any angle, you need a tapered cylinder. You get the smallest profile from the most angles of approach, the most internal volume for your machinery, weapons, sensors etc, and the least storage space needed to hold it so more fighters in your bays as a bonus.
It’s one of my favorites
This is my favorite fighter in starwars
Good vid
thank I'll keep em coming!
Anikan would have LOVED to pilot one of these.
The reason the fang fighter was so successful is, that the A-Wings was lead by Hera, she ALWAYS get most of her team killed, as long as it isn´t the Core Crew. #notgoodleader #worsethenredshirtunderkirk ;)
Love that ship
Well, it is only a good trick if your opponent have wing mounted guns. If the guns a centermounted, you are still stuck in the middle of their crosshair.
Lol yeah that's true
This is the way !
Idk if the speed stat is correct. I remember seeing a stat somewhere on par with the A-wing
It should be about the same as a TIE Interceptor. I don't know who wrote the stats for it but it's definitely not right. According to Wookiepedia it's barely faster than a P51 Mustang
My Selonians would use these, some of them literally combined with B-wings
I'd think that'd be quite scary in battle, morbidly obese Selonian pilots attacking.....................................................................
..........................................a rival fast-food chain
I've always thought these were Kom'rk Fighters
Similar design, but the Kom'rk is far larger and spikier, at around 50m long compared to the 6-16m Fang. Also can double as a troop transport.
The Kom'rk is a larger multi-crew ship. This is a single seat starfighter. The difference is like the Millennium Falcon and an X-wing.
I believe one of the Star Wars mobile games had the Kom'rk mislabeled as a Fang Fighter when it first came out. In the X-wing miniatures game the smaller Fang Fighter was originally called the Protectorate Starfighter, so that may have lead to the confusion
@@craven1927 The Kom'rk is really a gunship/troop carrier. It's the "big brother" to the Fang.
@@kennethdawson7774 yes, I was referring to a size difference. Although I believe the Kom'rk is actually bigger than the Falcon, but my point was that they are still two different ships.
Anakin Skywalker, Ben Solo and the Mandalorian Protectors:
Spinning starfighter veterans.
I wonder how the Fang Fighter would look in Lego form? Wild guess it would look pretty good.
Looks like a cool ship.
You can look up LEGO fang fighter and find some custom ones. That would give you an idea of how it would look in LEGO.
LEGO, you’ve managed to build the Kom’rk-class Gauntlet Fighter,
so let’s see if you still have the *instert Joker CAHONES here* to make the Fang Fighter.
I love the design, aggressive and adaptable, in other words very Mandalorian. But I wonder how a pilot actually controls it. For instance if I turn right will the wings adjust virtically for a turn or is there a seperate control for the wings🤔
Carlos Banegas I guess it depends, of course in atmosphere you will need to spin the wings in order to turn since it doesn’t seem to have ailerons
On board AI
Been with you since you had 5k can you do Zygerrians my birthday tomorrow
hey that's awesome! but idk if it'll be tomorrow
Make a new video of the gauntlet night brother for your viewers please
It looks like a mini Kom'rk-class mixed with the angular front end and cockpit of an A-wing.
I love it!
I wonder how they send control signals to the portions of the ship behind the pivot point. It might be a severe weak point - and it also might make it very susceptible to Ion cannon hits effecting the controls too.
Can you do the gauntlet fighter, the one used by death watch
He already did I think. The Kom'rk. Maybe it was Eckgartsladder or Spacedock though...
“I’ll try spinning, that’s a good trick!”
I love the fighter, but I never get why it doesn't have a shield. I like to think that it did have them in the clone wars, but the Empire made the Protectors remove them. I'd love to see a video about how ships like this, the TIE Defender and regular TIE and X-Wing would do against the ships from the time of The Last Jedi. Would they hold their own?
Spin to win!
I don’t know what it is, but I actually really hate the way the wings spin around. Maybe it’s because it the connection from the body to the wing seems so fragile?
Love it
Wait a second... 2:07 . 185,000 credits and the cockpit is a cardboard box with crayon drawn on it?
Gonk!
Honestly, I don't like the rotating wing design. It adds too much mechanical complexity. Usually that's bad simply because more parts are there and prone to breaking, but in this case it's magnified - if the wings break and stick in position covering the cockpit, not only does it look like it'd be next to impossible to land properly, but it looks like it also prevents the cockpit from opening, which essentially traps and possibly dooms the pilot if they can't rotate the wings back.
Yeah as visually cool as it is, I definitely agree with your point
I've suspected that the every Mon Calamari ship is copied from other ships with great reputations. I suspect Bwings are mods of this ship. Except as bombers.
I want a gyroscopic cockpit on the Millenium Falcon!
Modify this to accept an astromech & up it’s speed a bit & it would be my standard star-fighter if I was putting together a navy.
Palleon class pls?
Who they want to caught offguard with that hidden protton launcher if your ship already spins madly
Lol you just give up then
perreterecon that’s just so they can kill anything
Well it is mandolorian, and they are no strangers to weaponry, so who does it hurt to put a little bit of unnecessary weaponry on your ship that’s already fully capable of massive destruction.
I loved this star fighter design. It felt weird watching the Mandalorians build this thing when they were the pacifists in Clone Wars. Technically with more and more Mandalorians helping out the Rebels this thing would end up becoming a Rebel star fighter. Would it be called an F-Wing?
M-Wing, for Mandalorian Wing, as well as that it kinda looks like an M, or a W depending on your point of view =P , from above or below
I’ve always wanted the LEGO one from 2012ish. Well, I’m probably gonna spend about $150 bucks on a sealed one of these.
I think you mean the kom’rk. Similar design, same manufacture, just different ship. Still really cool tho, I’d grab it.
What with all that spinning they're more like Fun Fighters!
More like a fidget fighter
@@Kakarot64. that's even better
Which would be better in your opinion this ship a wing or lancer pursuit class
To be fair, their victory over a squadron of A-Wings is more to do with the show drastically nerfing the A-Wing to make it an expendable purpose ship for hero red shirts rather than the legendary interceptor it is. Now if the Rebels were using Z-95's or other Clone Wars era ships, this fight would make a lot more sense.
TBF the A wings used at that point aren't the later ledgendary model
@@eps200 Not according to the Diseny Canon information we are given.
starwars.fandom.com/wiki/RZ-1_A-wing_interceptor
"Based on the original R-22 prototype, the early rebel movement adopted the fighter against the Galactic Empire, letting these so-called RZ-1s see action during the Age of the Empire and the Galactic Civil War. The updated RZ-2 variant would replace the RZ-1 after the Battle of Endor, and would see use thirty years later during the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order."
So no, the A-Wing that we get in Endor, that Legends made out to be a badass interceptor that was better than even their TIE counterpart, is the same model the Rebels use early on in the war and is constantly being shredded like some common redshirt.
@@eps200 Additionally, in Legends it's described that the A-Wing was a personal design of General Dodanna made after the Battle of Yavin, due to the need of dedicated anti-starfighter craft (a similar conclusion the Empire would make as well, coming out with the Interceptor a few years before the A-Wing).
Now, this is Disney Canon once again making illogical story decisions due to the need to cash-in the nostalgia check every chance they get, such as introducing the A and B-Wings years before they were supposed to.
@@Tracer_Krieg Actually there is nothing wrong with them being Imperial rejects and seeing them in rebels as they were still early designs. Also the B-wing only showed up one time and it was the prototype.
The fang fighter is the very little spinny boi cusion or brother of the Kom'rk class fighter.
I'm trying to think if its better than an X-Wing and a A-Wing. Anyone have the answer?
It's better than your average TIE, having good maneuverability and firepower, as well as independence with a hyperdrive, but the X-wing is better in general in having greater durability, firepower, and the addition of an astromech droid
