This reminds me of the tv show Dukes of Hazard when the original actors went on strike so they hired some other actors that kinda looked like them and made them wear the same clothes.
I agrizzle with drums bass but Jeff is badass Billy found a guy he can go to to figure out how to do something he wants to as awesome as Billy is like a gunslinger there's always someone as good or better and he found him.
One of the best Pumpkins song Ever. I don't give a shit who's on drums or bass or any of that. As long as Billy's strumming his guitar and singing with his beautiful voice all is right with the world❤️🤘
He's a brilliant singer because no one else could provide the emotional interpretation his incredible lyrics demand. Much like Bob Dylan. God forbid Corgan's lyrics succumbed to the syrupy vocal stylings of "really good singer" Paul McCartney or even the late Chris Cornell who was too much in control of his great voice to do the originality and quirkiness of Pumpkins music and lyrics even the slightest favor. Billy Corgan is already the greatest composer/interpreter of rock that America has ever produced and the legacy keeps growing. So Kymberli, all is right with you.
Haha I know it's acoustic, but so typical Billy to look towards and point to the electric guitarists at 2:18 when the solo comes in and then still play it himself. Great rendition of one of my top 5 pumpkins songs, but that just made me laugh.
I watched that part again, and I'm pretty sure his gesture was just a visual queue to the drummer to bring it down. You can see them kinda laugh about it after his solo.
Probably my favorite song by the Pumpkins, Billy never ceases to amaze me. His voice is just perfect in my eyes, and he nails it here. I hope to see them live one day, fucking sweet performance.
nicole is awesome, and of course i dont match billy's talent, but i think my bassist was way hotter! so much so that i married her! plus, like nicole shes a great bassist /watch?v=e_1V7K2nfzg and /watch?v=hnj4CqtJVac&list=UU4ka9Dy6BhD-Nh7VM_Gtwvw&index=12
I do miss the original lineup (although a reunion is likely soon), I think performance wise Jimmy is the only one the band really misses. Billy sounds really good in this particular performance aswell
I hooe this makes all realize that Billy is amazing, but you cannot replace Jimm, Darcy and James...this sounds nothing...nowhere near the beauty i heard at the double door in 91
The documentary where they were looking to replace Jimmy showed this kid's audition, so glad he got to play with them, he was too young to tour with them due to certain venues being over 21s only. Good to see this kid doing an amazing job and having fun with them
I remember back in the day, I didn't know that this song was off the Singles soundtrack and not off Saimese Dream. I hated that and also loved it because back then you had to buy that soundtrack to get the song. I did buy Saimese Dream looking forward to hearing that song tho..but Geek USA did and always has made up for that.
I'll give you Jimmy. Melissa Auf Da Mer said something similar, all Billy needs is himself and Jimmy. People do need to stop acting like Billy can't make a SP record without Iha and D'arcy, he made Siamese Dream just fine without them!
Ah... no E-Bow : ( I knew there was something missing. The other guy has an electric guitar, so he could have played it. No Billy, you didn't hit your high note on "I wish, I wish, I could LIE"! Sorry, Billy's been doing that live forever. I have this S.P. Live CD, or rather a burnt copy that's scratched up now. 1/2 of it's acoustic, and 1/2 electric. In the acoustic set Corgan fails to his the high note in "Mayonnaise". His voice cracks on "I just want to BE..., me!" He laughs it off in good humor. I thought that it was cool before I began to take singing classes, and private lessons. Corgan has a unique voice, a cool style, but he's not really versatile. In fact, If I were given the chance, by the time I'm his current age, and we're like a decade a part, I'd be doing some cool things. Getting that opportunity, that's a whole different story. Overall performance, not bad, but the drummer does speed up the tempo, something Jimmy Chamberlain would never do. Gives me bad memories of Jimmy going to jail, and having to see the real S.P. with Filter's drummer. Everything was sped up, and the songs on Mellon Collie don't sound good that way.
Complete disregard for dynamics. This song was enjoyed by the original four, if you disagree...then you don't understand band chemistry.....easy that it's a cover, w/o the other three...no way Billy could producer this song on his own. Anyone...you knew....ANYONE could play this song as a cover,,,,but it requires the Smashing Pumpkins who wrote it, to give it character,....and they're gone...just Billy left :(
it's not that Jimmy Chamberlain cannot be replaced; its just that this isnt the drummer to do it. 2:19 - 2:28 ouch; if your gonna do down, go down in flames, all guns blazing. there is no room for in-decision.
This song never gets the praise it deserved, it's one of their best ever, and Nichol Fiorentino's base is great on here, sadly better than Darcy Wretzky's.
well, I personally have MCIS at first place and Zietgiest bottom of the list of my fav Pumpkins work (didnt like Zietgiest at all) Teargarden would probably be 4th fav. When I say SP snobs Im not refering to people who prefer the old stuff or even people who flat out dont like the new stuff. Im refering to people who have actually said to me Im not even going to bother listening to the new stuff based on Zietgiest or the new line up. If I were to play said people this video with just the sound
In your opinion, what about people who can listen to and enjoy Fall Out Boy and Biebers shit but can also evaluate and asses what is complex? Do they have a middle taste? Personally I don't think taste has a superiority level. Taste is just that, taste. However I think there is a huge superior skill set in say a band like the Pumpkins compared to a Bieber or Gaga.
Do Smashing Pumkins-fans have some kind of humor? I don't find the bass-SOUND amazing. You can't hear deep frequencies on the e-bass without normal amplification. They tried in a curious way to make it sound acoustic. I'm pleased with many songs of the Pumpkins and live concerts of them. This was definitely not their best performance of this song -without being "nostalgic". You can clearly see the uncertainty and irritation between Billy and Jeff about their guitar playing performance...
Hi buddy, you've noticed the qualities of the band and why Billy is a genius! I'm not very pleased with this version of "Drown". The sound-quality of the bass guitar is lacking, Jeff behaved like James not trying a real E-guitar solo and the one from Billy on the acoustic sounded a bit peculiar. And Mike might be good for his age, but Jimmy Chamberlin (or Matt Walker) are another league... Good song, but thumb down for the playing.
@19KISStheSKY97 cannot agree with u, sorry mate...this is NOT the Smashing Pumpkins...this is Billy doing some good SP music with other guys. And D'Arcy back to the days was the hottest chick ever !!! no way,man..
and told them it was the original line up theyd no doubt say its great. Not sure about your "higher taste" and "only hipsters" comments but I guess each to their own and we all have our own indivigual tastes.
@riotdave It is Smashing Pumpkins as it says in the name. You have argued none of my points, but just stated that Im wrong. 1. No she wasn't. And 2. So what?
Yes, it is a great song. However, Mike needs to play with more emotion. The drums are a huge part of the 'original' Drown song and I didn't feel it in this version
Anyone else feel like he was a little mean towards the drummer in the end? Maybe he was over doing it and that's a no no as a drummer. Or maybe it's just me lol
They all are good but they will never be The Smashing Pumpkins, just Corgan´s new and current combo, Jimmy Chamberlin will always be THE absolute Smashing Pumpkins drummer... PERIOD!
Wrap your heads around this, Jeff Schroeder has been a member of the Smashing Pumpkins 13 years. James Iha was a member for 12 when they broke up in 2000. So for all the talk of Billy and his band, I understand that the original lineup is nostalgic, but Jeff is arguably just as seasoned a member as James was, and is also a far greater musical force than James was. He came to the Pumpkins as a virtuoso player, played the parts that James never played all that well live ( he can play the parts that Billy recorded on the albums). And he probably has his playing in considerably more recorded album tracks than James does at this point. I love the original lineup too, but Jeff actually can hang with Billy in the playing department, and he deserves a lot of credit for that. Not to mention being able to put up with Billy Corgan for 13 years lol.
thats why he didnt get rid of Jeff when they reunited with the old members! Considering pumpkins have 30ish guitar tracks in a lot of their songs its only right they have 3 guitarists..
Man i just time warped back to 1992!!! I've only heard the album version before, this tunes holds up so good acoustic.. love the acoustic and tele combo, raw bass tone, hot rods on the kit!!! DEADLY! Who's the kid on the drums?? lol
i would say 50%. jimmy chamberlain had a LOT to do with the bands sound. his drumming was amazing and he played on the albums. his replacement mike byrne is pretty killer though!
It's not acoustic. Every single instrument is plugged in, including Billy's acoustic-electric. Man, that bass player is a babe. The original band members were douche bags, so good for Billy for continuing on his own!
This looks like Billy walked into a School of Rock and said "let's jam"
I never heard such beauty in other bands.
The Smashing pumpkins are the best for sure.
Honey, I Shrunk Jimmy Chamberlin
Hahaha
in what album is this song?
My favorite smashing pumpkins song being covered by Billy Corgan and his garage band!!!
Smashing's Top 3 aka S Tier:
1. 1979
2. Drown
3. Tonight, Tonight
This reminds me of the tv show Dukes of Hazard when the original actors went on strike so they hired some other actors that kinda looked like them and made them wear the same clothes.
@ODIN Force it's a good show anyway
mini jimmy, mini darcy, and mini james are doing quite a good job!
Nahh these guys are good
Biggy Corgan
I agrizzle with drums bass but Jeff is badass Billy found a guy he can go to to figure out how to do something he wants to as awesome as Billy is like a gunslinger there's always someone as good or better and he found him.
I don't think D'arcy can play anymore.
@@marcosr666 He looks in good shape on that vid.
Their best song, and one of the greatest songs ever
Oh and Mayonnaise!
You haven't heard Mayonaise!

3. Tonight, Tonight
One of the best Pumpkins song Ever. I don't give a shit who's on drums or bass or any of that. As long as Billy's strumming his guitar and singing with his beautiful voice all is right with the world❤️🤘
This performance shows what James and Jimmy brought to the group. Would it kill the drummer to sit in the pocket just a bit? This isn’t a march.
Beautiful voice? That's a bit much. Love the pumpkins but a great singer Billy is not. Mostly sounds like a cat in a cement mixer
I miss the '90s & '80s
This song was my introduction to SP...and almost 25 years later its still my favorite song.
Smashing Pumpkins are awesome, but I honestly miss the old band.just saying!!!
Haha I know it's acoustic, but so typical Billy to look towards and point to the electric guitarists at 2:18 when the solo comes in and then still play it himself. Great rendition of one of my top 5 pumpkins songs, but that just made me laugh.
I think it would fit the song better with the acoustic while the electric holds down the rhythm.
I watched that part again, and I'm pretty sure his gesture was just a visual queue to the drummer to bring it down. You can see them kinda laugh about it after his solo.
@@HungarianMafioso yes
I thought Jeff missed his queue to play the solo, so Billy stepped in. At the end you can hear Billy say Jeff. 😆
Probably my favorite song by the Pumpkins, Billy never ceases to amaze me. His voice is just perfect in my eyes, and he nails it here. I hope to see them live one day, fucking sweet performance.

The guy on the drumms looks like he still can't believe he is playing for the Pumpkins. He looks absolutely happy.
@ODIN Force that’s a hard no. He may be good, but Jimmy Chamberlin is top 5 of all time.

I do miss the original lineup (although a reunion is likely soon), I think performance wise Jimmy is the only one the band really misses. Billy sounds really good in this particular performance aswell

AMEN! 🙏
such a fuckin good song. remembered it was featured in a 90s movie, "singles" by director cameron crowe. :)
Does Billy only hires hot bassists? lol, I'm not complaining though. Nothin wrong with a cutie playing a classic 90s anthem like this.
Nicole is what made me follow through with bass guitar!
Awww, that's awesome!
Not D'arcy? D'arcys a whole lot better than Nicole
Nicole????
@@moonontheman1657 EXACTLY! D'arcy is classically trained in 🎻 like me. She also played Oboe. D'arcy was MY reason to switch to bass in college.
The documentary where they were looking to replace Jimmy showed this kid's audition, so glad he got to play with them, he was too young to tour with them due to certain venues being over 21s only. Good to see this kid doing an amazing job and having fun with them

Totally bought the singles soundtrack for this song😂😂🤘
The Singles soundtrack was incredible. The entire album.
I'll give you Jimmy. Melissa Auf Da Mer said something similar, all Billy needs is himself and Jimmy. People do need to stop acting like Billy can't make a SP record without Iha and D'arcy, he made Siamese Dream just fine without them!
Why is a 15 year old playing drums for The Smashing Pumpkins
Hey man, he was 19!
Lol he's 26 now
Cause he's good.
I've got it frozen at 1:21. I think Billy has had the THREE hottest bassists in history in his band. The man is a genius.
You think Jack is hot?
One of my all time favourite songs, beat, lyrics & musicians, make this tune a toe tapping , try and sing along
(haha) song.
I Love This Band! Billy voice will Always be Awesome!
Smashing's Top 3 aka S Tier:

Not bad for a cover band I guess :-/
Ha! Smartass. Good comment
Billy wrote the guitar and lyrics. The rest doesn't take much, though SP drums did had a unique heavy sound... anyway, SP is Billy Corgan.
😂 that was the true
You are a genius too! Billy had FOUR female bass players in his band: D'Arcy Wretzky, Melissa auf der Maur, Ginger Reyes and Nicole Fiorentino.
Ah... no E-Bow : ( I knew there was something missing. The other guy has an electric guitar, so he could have played it. No Billy, you didn't hit your high note on "I wish, I wish, I could LIE"! I'd venture to say that Jeff and Nicole are better on their respective instruments than James and D'arcy were. On the other hand, Mike is no Jimmy.
great tune like the unplugged version considering a hole new band
This isn't the Smashing Pumpkins. It's Billy Corgan and some kids doing a Smashing Pumpkins song.
+Jennifer Morphis So in essence, what the band was in the nineties too (minus Jimmy), heh
Jennifer Morphis there's only one acoustic guitar, false advertising
billy is pumpkins he composes the songs
Gabriel Mouritsen not only him, James too.
Ha right? It looks like Billy Corgan stopped to play this song at a high school.
It's weird how he chose to replace a female bassist with a female bassist, and an asian guitarist with another asian guitarist
er i dont think he is dude,if you are a true pumpkins fan you would already know that Billy IS The Smashing Pumpkins
Nice that Billy let the kids from the rocket video play along with him

sorry but its weird to feel inspired by this band when 75% of the original crew is missing.
Nicole whoops the shit out of Darcy on the bass just sayin’
Where are the Smashing Pumpkins? I don't recognize any of these people!
But is this really the Smashing Pumpkins?
why they don't like? I think this 50 people drowned
This isnt smashing pumpkins its Billy & kids
Still great but not the same without that long note/bend.
Sorry mike. Not the best drumming
what type of taylor did corgan use ?
anyone here.. thanks
Didn`t you know...? They got replaced by their kids...

How is this acoustic?
+MJW238 billy is using an acoustic?
+Chris Hernandez r u noob mjw238?
+elise jeremy vedder are you like 8?
U noob this song no effects on sounds thats why acoustic
MJW238 compared to the original version,>it just is lol
Nice dairy cabinets on the bassist.
If they play acoustic, then Nicole should've used an acoustic bass! That's why it sounds like too much bass!
I miss the "grrr" of james yeeha guitar.
This song is soo cool ever ❤
Can someone give me the date of this show?
The hottest SP bass player.
Hes right in the front... Thats Billy Corgan.
Smashing Pumpkins is Billy Corgan...and this performance proved it.
fucking good music and band ......
miss old band...
nacionalista agora? mais que merda hein billy!
wacky bass sound!
Not the smashing pumkins.
Nicole is beyond hot
Jon Yoffa D'Arcy is like, a thousand times hotter tho
Siddhant Bakshi not these days 😬
i would say 50%. jimmy chamberlain had a LOT to do with the bands sound. his drumming was amazing and he played on the albums. his replacement mike byrne is pretty killer though!
45 year old man with 3 18 year olds
I don't know. Nicole's pretty cute.
This aint the Pumpkins, its Billy Corgan and friends!
don't forget the caucasian drummer
