These are GREAT! Can you give a word about water proofing and making ponds and fountains this way? Do you need to use some sort of a sealer? Will the oxides stay with water running over them after some drying time?
Pure oxides as shown are not permanent unless mixed with some cement as a slurry or with an acrylic bonding agent (bondcrete) mixed in with the water. At least in my experience.
I would like to use your technique with broken concrete and aging with oxides to create a waterfall for my fish pond. When I am rinsing the oxides to soften, will the runoff that goes into the pond harm the fish?
Ummm I am no expert but I think you are doing this wrong. Seriously wrong! Maybe you should change the title of this video. I don't know what R4 is. Maybe that's what throws people off? You should have millions of likes and thumbs up on this video. Its extremely helpful. Your rocks are incredible and gorgeous! I love looking at them. You make everything look so easy and beautiful. I'm telling you, it's gotta be the title. Fix it so more people can enjoy your talents! :D Love ya from the other side of the world!!!
Ive found that using a spray bottle with 1-2 teaspoons of oxide/pigment gives a more subtle and natural look and you can work in layers darkening slowly. Also sanding will bring back natural color to the high areas giving a weathered look. You can buy pigments at www.directcolors.com also seal with a solvent based satin sealer to lock in the colors. To see some of my own decorative concrete work visit facebook.com/kenscustomdesigns. Great tutorial on how to carve concrete!
Great videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Fantastic, I'll try to do it in one day. So many thanks.
love it, but where do you get the oxide from?
Thank you for this, we are just about ready to do this to one of our diy bolders
These rocks look great. Can you show us how to make a small rock wall.
Do you seal the rock when your done or just let be
What happens when it rains? Is that coloring permanent once it dries?
Amazing work!
Great tips!
You should be able to buy your oxide at the same place where you buy your cement. (local hardware or landscape supply centre?)

Does the oxides fade over time? I'm more familiar with the acid stains which is more permanent.

Hi Ken, what do you mix the oxides in? Do you use just water? Some oxides say they are insoluble in water.
Which color used for rock
Ugghhh, is that a giant prehistoric brontosaurus loaf or what?
