It makes me shiver every time. It gets to me. Ryan Adams gets to me, in all his heartbreaking and beautiful honesty. No one compares to him, and no one gets close to his musical genius, so why bother arguing about which version is better? Ryan'll always win in the end!
i have to admit that the first time i heard this song was on "one tree hill", but once i youtubed the original by ryan adams, there is no other version for me. this is definitely one of the best songs of the 2000s and no tim mcgraw or bono can do it better than the songwriter himself.
Not one second of this could've been any better. To the eleven thumbs down, I would never play music with you and I just don't want to know you, PERIOD.
my, Now, wife chose to walk down the isles to this song. But, it HAD TO BE the Adams Casal version. This Song captured every essence of the of the moment. Hands Down, this version of "When The Stars Go Blue" is the absolute best. An Adams/Casal duet at its finest. Thanks for the Memories Guys.
Best songwriter I've heard. I've heard versions, of this song & liked them, but after picking one after another of his, discovering the most original songwriter & musician I've heard, well a devoted Ryan Adams fan was just born tonite. By the way I've seen and heard a lot great musicians but this Ryan guy just jumped ahead of artists I love & at 62 yrs. alive & 50 yes as a guitar player that loves music & performers with that class & style & soul & to be that complete at 40, mr. Adams you are something, I can't find a song yet that doesn't impress me or style, I'm a guy that didn't get stuck in the 60's or any other decade's music too, I like it all, I had an slogan for a Radio station I dreamed of having that their motto: ALL THE HITS, NONE OF THE TIME would get listeners that really likes music, the songs between the hits, so I'm glad that I met your songs tonight, I am flat knocked out how good & how many songs that won't let new or old fans down , I love your music & want to hear it all.
been to this church in this gorgeous lil harbour town on a magnifient peninsula, dingle. it's so extraordinary. and this song is so the equal of it. thank you, once again, ryan adams.
Seriously, to the person that shared this video with the rest of us- thank you. Of all the vids on you tube I've seen over the years- I'm sure I've watched this, by far the most.
Ryan Adams got robbed. This is without a doubt the very best version of this song." Let it ride" also is another sign of his tallent. The man has a gift!!!
Greatest singer/songwriter of our time and sadly reminds me of what Gram Parsons might have accomplished if he had respected his gift and was dedicated to his craft in the way that Ryan is. And just to imagine what a Gram Parsons' rendition of this beautiful song might've sounded like is enough to put a smile on your face all day, (or night.)
My Dad just passed this song reminds me of him-oxox-By the way he was from Couny Kerry-PERFECT-Gave me chills to find out this was performed there-2007
With gratitude to Michael Jewell Haley who pointed me in the direction of the original version of the song...I now give you this little gift. Am I wrong or does his voice just float like a bird. Love this acoustic version and now I'm a fan of Ryan Adams who I'd never heard of before.
Awesome version, such a full sound with such a simple arrangement. I have to admit I am offended that Tim McGraw covered this song in techno-country... when Ryan wrote it and nailed it... but I suppose it bring Ryan royalties, so that's good.
This song is utterly beautiful, Ryan Adams' voice is just stunning; perfect for falling alseep to. Though I must say that the cover by The Burden of Paradise with extra saxophone (!) is a bit nifty too. :)
@Jaxton98 this is Ryan Adams original that Tim covered. theres a funny bit on a Yahoo performance where after the band finished playing the song, Ryan says, "I wrote that song. ME! It made a ton o' cash and paid for my pool made of Unicorn bones." Gotta love him. But yes, Ryan did write the song, and yes he made a shit ton of money letting other artists cover it (Tim, the Corrs, etc...).
How can ten people not like this. They must really have problems if they go to the effort of pressing the dislike button. For God's sake, if you don't like it don't listen to it. press the backspace key and go back to Justin Bieber or Sepultura. Anyone who appreciates music will see quality in all styles of music. Anyway, that's my ramble over :0
who’s here for Neal?
For sure. RIP NC
RIP!😢
This is so sad. He was a great musician. I hope you are happy now out there in the stars.
What difference does it make why we're here?
@@TheVeek192 people are hurting over the loss of Neal
And the award for best backing vocal and instrumental accompaniment goes to: Neal Casal.

Neals playing was always so gorgeous.
Now Neal is with the stars...

I Wrote these lyrics: I’m extremely flattered by the sentiments here as well as these two’s rendering
However…well, you should wonder why not even credit is afforded by now: I wrote his entire career..
Neil’s harmony is always chord on..
And so many who covered this would wonder as well
A song of rare beauty and perfection! Great pairing!
LOVE these two artists together. At a loss for words really. Whoa. Just surfing UA-cam tonight, and fell upon this. Stunning. Simply stunning.

Couldn't agree more! amazing performance, but how sad the input level has been screwed up!! Would love to find a clean audio version of this gig.
The only word that comes to mind when I watch this is "magic".. that's it
This song is utterly beautiful, Ryan Adams' voice is just stunning; perfect for falling alseep to. Though I must say that the cover by The Burden of Paradise with extra saxophone (!) is a bit nifty too. :)
Rest In Peace Neal
@jaqiithebest This song was composed and written by Ryan Adams, the song in OTH (Tyler Hilton and Bethany Joy Lenz) is just a version of this one
first time i heard this was Tim McGraw as im a pop country fan.....but this version is the best i've ever heard
For those curious, Ryan is playing a Harmony Sovereign..same oddball guitar that stairway to heaven was recorded with ;)
Por que eu tô ouvindo essa música cara !?!?! ❤❤❤❤❤
Weee I love the marionette and the wooden shoes!
sorry, I know it skips. Trying to see if I can reupload a HQ version now. Thanks for the comments, TDTD.
I love that Harmony Soverign.
Man, they've really improved this song since Gold.
If you add Neil Casals on guitar and vocals to most anything, it will get better.
Maravilhoso!
bela canção
I can't stop listening to this video...is there any way to find the version that doesn't skip??
Wow, Neal.......I was a fan.
Magic......
Can't believe the news that Neal Casal has passed away :'(
Shocking and deeply sad. What a talent. And gone MUCH to soon.
sehr schön!!!
i love this version with neal casal. i wish i could find the mp3.
@Jaxton98 Ryan Adams is the original writing artist of this song, all others including Tim, covered it from him.
I need some R A today.....
Just throwing it out there-- Drugstore(band)...Never Come Down(song). Sick. also hear El President(Thom Yorke guest vox). Thanks fer reading.
Good song 🙂
AGREED!!!
@Jaxton98 it's all good natured. Thanks for listening!
@Jaxton98 this is Ryan Adams original that Tim covered. theres a funny bit on a Yahoo performance where after the band finished playing the song, Ryan says, "I wrote that song. ME!
