Finding Fatwood for Fire Starting: Learn how to locate and utilize fatwood, nature's perfect fire starter, to ignite flames even in the harshest winter conditions. Discover where to find this resin-rich wood and how to effectively incorporate it into your fire-starting arsenal.
Using Snow to Drink Water: In winter landscapes, snow can be a valuable resource for obtaining hydration. However, drinking snow directly can lower body temperature and lead to hypothermia. Hey friends! What state or country is everyone watching from today?
From the soon to be communist state of Michigan United States of Insanity
Minnesota
East TN
Sweden
My comment is gone
Watching from Finland! We in southern Finland have really wet winters living on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Freeze, snow, thaw, rain and freeze again. Your video speaks really well to us. Thanks.
Greatings from Herzogenrath, NRW, Germany. I really enjoy your channel. You are doing great work. Chris
Aloha I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. I just got back from help leading a wilderness leadership team building event that we run a few times a year. Teaching young folks to embrace the suck is a very cool thing
Awesome work!!
It's amazing to see what sort of ideas we can come up with.
Great video brother. You tube decided not to notify me when you drop a on 3 video. So im going back and watching the last 4. Thabks again for the info.
Great point Jason. Having the tools is great, knowing how to use them is greater. 😂 You know what state I’m in, only 20 minutes or so north. 😂
Great info, thank you brother.
Any time!
I'm watching from Indiana
Excellent Information, thanks for Sharing
Smashing I believe is more fun .nice trick with the snow ball
Thanks. Agreed
Looking like some fun times in Georgia. I've always been lucky with fire. I've never had an incident where I couldn't get one going. Although I smoke, so I always have a lighter on me. I have one of those rubber lighter protective cases. But I'm a fan of the lighter leash. And for the serious smokers out there like myself, I have a cheap peanut lighter on my keys. I appreciate your video.
Watching from Illinois where t was 81 degrees yesterday and winchill of 8 degrees this morning. You never know! Thanks for the video and info!
North Central PA. Same here cold one day warm the next. I prefer the thinsulate insulated rubber boots, but as with all rubber boots, they have their downside. What type of boot I wear depends on my plans for the day, lots of choices.
I like the snowball drip!
Winter is your playtime.❄️+🔥=👍🏻
Northern Minnesota.
Southern Illinois. Just like another guy said, it's warm one day freezing the next. This time of year it's a roller coaster ride, but every warm day is one less cold day lol
Yep. Was in a tee shirt two days ago.
Ohio. I learned the hard way not to use pine in a wood stove - to be fair I was only 24 but I had a really CLEAN chimney!😮 great video!
Austria Europe best wishes to you and your's .
Thanks. Right back at you. I’d love to visit Austria one day!
Arkansas
Boston, MA
I have been to Boston once. So crowded! Not sure how you do it.
Fun video. I am in middle TN. I prefer building to destroying.
Tie off the end of your buff and fill it with snow it will filter the debris and the dark cloth will absorb more heat melting the snow faster. I use a gear bag I made from the shin part of a pair of cut off jeans. I sew the top at an angle then add a piece of cotton tape or webbing to tie the bag closed and use it to hang by the fire. You can tie up snow in a handkerchief too.
Good Evening ! Watching from Idaho. Where's Maggie ? SMASH . LOL TAKE CARE..
Good video thanks for sharing YAH bless brother !
Southern Indiana
Great content. For me, a fire is not always possible. Clothing is essential, and you covered that well. Proper shoes or boots can be equally important. The reason constant movement such as walking, hiking, can be used to main core temperature in freezing conditions. Improper footwear can reveal or can create issues in the feet that can easily surprise you, especially if you are on the move. If you lose the ability to be mobile, of course, survival becomes more of a challenge. Another thing to think about is to have some high calorie food (energy bars, or equivalent) because of the energy that is required to maintain movement. It is easy to throw a couple of bars in your pocket, or pack.
It maybe nessisary to move at night to stay warm and sleep during the day when it is warmer. Night travel has its own challenges, but one very serious one is eye protection. It is easy to walk into a dead branch even in day time, night time is even problematic. Having a basic set of clear no tint glasses is really not only smart but really nessisary. Just my two cents. Thanks for sharing.
Utah here
I love Utah. It's one of my favorite states.
Beautiful day in California, rain and 50 mph wind by dawn, snow on Friday 🙄
That branch bridge at 4:44 was a great trick. I have read about the snowball trick in a survival book from Alaska but I have not tried it because I live in middle GA. I had enough snow while stationed in Alaska. How would you suggest someone practice winter skills without the snow? I have a few ideas but I would like to know your thoughts. And smashing a snowman is way more fun. Thank you kind sir.
It is difficult to practice winter skills in a place that doesn’t have much of a winter. Road trip??
@@ONThree If your paying, You know what I do for a living and it doesn't pay much.
smash a snowman for sure !
Agreed!!
N.w. Indiana...22min drive to the Chicago loop
Central Colorado
I love Colorado! How is the weather over there?
@@ONThree very nice for this time of year. Mountain snow pack is right where it needs to be. Just neet to be very careful around the creek, streams,n rivers. I'm near Castlewood Canyon just outside of Castle Rock.
Grippy rubber texture . Exotac is where it's at ! ! !
Ruff, those pine needles up before you steep your tea way better taste.
Thanks for the tip
What axe is that
Always remember when using the snowball stick method, just like marshmallows rotate for even heat distribution or one side will burn and the other will still be raw. !!!!
Hahahaha! Nobody likes a raw snowball.
East Tennessee
👍👍
ExoTac, if you're watching, make something for Zippo.
I like the classic zippo. It’s just hard to beat the cheap bic for convenience and reliability.
I’ve got your lighter in my pocket right now. 😊
Thief!!
Ohio, what is the coat you are wearing?
It's a wool coat from New Zealand. I can't find anyone that makes them in America. A Kiwi friend of mine got it from me.
Smash
See ya on the next one
👍
I carry the same fire sleeve bic in my pocket everyday
Awesome!
Just in the woods or for everywhere?
Every day, every where the true spec pants I wear have a little pocket perfect fit for the Bic with a fire sleeve and on the other side, I carry a small CR 123 USB rechargeable battery flashlight Also I used some of that para cord that has the tinder inside it to attach the lid of the fire sleeve to the body so that it flops off in one piece and I don’t have to worry about losing it or holding onto it, just tied a knot in the appropriate place on the fire cord to hold it in place when it’s loose plus I have that I did tinder if needed in an emergency.
@@xderiwx if I get a chance, I’ll try and post a video about it on my page
@@THENEWWRANGLER Awesome, I'll look out for it! 👍🏻
The last time I saw a snowman, I hit it on my 4 wheeler, and the snowman hit back. Don't try this at home kids. I'm just kidding, run all over the snowman.
My other comment is gone as well
??
@@ONThree I replied to where I'm listening from, and either I didn't hit send or it's gone....?? Same with my comment on the main page about melting ice instead of snow due to the higher % of water from ice, and that comment I know was submitted because I seen it appear
@@natsirttrebor1425 I saw your comment about from where you're watching. It was the first one, I think.
@Markus_321go yes, 4 minutes after he asked, it must have flew the coup...

Never! She is mean.
