Superba, suprema, tecnicamente perfetta.

Buenos Aires 1949 a rare treasure in descent sound displaying Callas's early majestic years with unmistakable shear resonance of power in her voice..Amazing.
In ginocchio, in adorazione❤️.
Riccardo Orlando when it came to effort, performing on the stage, combined with voice variety and reputation, Callas at her hight arguably had the best package.
@@rorlando1976 Callas never said that. And she certainly wasn't. Listening to her singing the same pieces as Callas, it's obvious that Callas took much more care with her phrasing and that her technique was vastly superior.
These early Callas recordings are exquisite. It's really sad that you can't find them in any streaming platforms, the only thing you can find are those remastered recordings of her late years which don't do justice to what she once was. What a blessing it is we can still listen to her early recordings, the true Callas, La Divina.
What a miracle the audience in Teatro Colón was witnessing and hearing! Even Callas could never equal the authority of her younger self, no matter how much further she probed into Norma's inner conflict. Her Norma became more refined over the years, but the overwhelming power of this performance was never equaled (at least in the recordings we have) by her--and certainly not by anyone else. This may be a sad fact, but it is also a moment to give thanks for the gift we have of hearing her, even in this less-than-perfect sound.
Even more examples of Callas‘ artistry & special vocal beauty prior to 1952 or so would be treasures indeed. Thanks for posting & many other representations of her early work are gratefully welcome. I still revere her NORMA recording from 1960 despite her decreasing vocal powers but it is great to hear her beautifully musical & steady vocalism here. A brief mention of her Mexico City AIDA from 1951. What Callas & Oralia Dominguez, both only in their mid/late 20‘s, achieve in their respective roles will not be equaled, much less surpassed, by any singers of their age these days. IMO!
Quite a recording! Such a find will satisfy many for the years. This is a gem for the archives of Callas in her Olympian vocal skill and at only 26 years singing of all operas, Bellini's Norma. Because she was a prodigy vocal athlete and opened the way for a Bel Canto's return of a stunning level, her musical perfection almost betrays Norma, as the flawed Druid goddess, who loved the flawed Roman. Bellini, I suspect, would have had a kick out of such irony. 🌹
Beautiful legato highlighting her amazing passaggio. Mentioning this because it's the first time it strikes my attention like that. Exquisite performance, but that strikes me always. Brava Callas💎
