  • Kargil Food Processing Unit Launches Ladakh’s First Natural Karkitchoo Apple Juice
In Ladakh, the Kargil Food Processing Unit has launched Ladakh' first-ever Natural Karkitchoo Apple Juice, a 100% pure product made exclusively from apple juice without any preservatives or added water. This groundbreaking initiative follows the successful export of Karkitchoo apples and highlights the potential of Ladakh's agro-industry.
Speaking to Akashvani News, Haji Mohd Mirza, the owner of the processing unit, emphasized the product's authenticity, saying, "Our Natural Karkitchoo Apple Juice is pure and free from any additives, ensuring a completely natural and healthy experience for consumers."
The processing unit has been a pioneer in manufacturing a wide range of products, including apricot, halman apricot and seabuckthorn Jam and juices, tomato purée, and pickles. Since Ladakh became a Union Territory, the agro-processing sector has seen significant growth with active government support, enabling units like this to flourish.
Haji Mirza highlighted the unit's contribution to the local economy by providing direct employment to seven individuals and supporting numerous farmers through raw material procurement. He also noted that while the primary market is Kargil and Kashmir, there is growing demand from outside Ladakh. However, he stressed the need for a robust marketing platform to expand further.
With initiatives like the Natural Karkitchoo Apple Juice, the Kargil Food Processing Unit is setting an example of how local resources can be utilized to reduce wastage, generate employment, and boost the region's economy. The product has already gained attention at exhibitions, thanks to the support of the Industries Department, which helps promote and market local products.
This pure and preservative-free apple juice represents a significant step forward for Ladakh's food processing sector, offering consumers a taste of the region's natural bounty.
