I just priced these on Amazon and was shocked to see that they were $20 each. I decided to hop on here and search it. Thank you so much for posting this. This is genius!!
Great idea! I had bought the plastic deflector and it didn't work very well. All it did was run the air across the floor... I decided I wanted my air up higher. I actually had a tall box that was the pergfect size of my vent. I removed the grate and then put the (opened both ends) box on top of, in the vent. Then I fit the deflector on top. This sent the air up and out into the room. Much better! After I had it perfectly fit together, I disassembled it and spray-painted it a color that almost matches my walls. The temperature of the room is much better now.
Thank you for your idea! now i'm going to try cutting an aluminum casserole pan in half (your great idea!) then i'm going to duct tape it to the floor vent opening (under a queen bed of a young woman renting a room in my house), use the rest of the pan to shape around an insulated 4" ducting hose and with duct and aluminum face tape to seal them together. Then i'm going to run the insulated hose out the foot of her bed, taping it to the underside of the bedframe so the air can rise some. i'm hoping that will not only shoot the air out but prevent mold and other stagnant air issues. even using a plastic vent extender from stores and online, they didn't extend far enough. plus your idea helped me realize how i can TURN the extender (using the insulated ducting hose) to go out the foot of her bed. thank you again!
I love this! I spent like $5 at home depot for one (just to see if it works), now I wanna put deflectors on practically ALL my vents ( I have 12). this is gonna save me a ton!. btw, as an extra hack for vents in the off season; instead of spending a lot on magnetic covers, just get vinyl shelf liners and cut to fit. They're decorative too!
Well this is fascinating. Nicely done! I've got this project where a wall vent is right where I want to hang a giant painting. Looks like I would need a more shallow depth pan to redirect the air below the painting. Maybe, maybe not. But worth an investigation.
Great idea! I assume the cut edge is sharp, so I'd put duct tape over the edge. But that's because I have children who are likely to stick their hands in there! Thanks!
8.00 pm That’s perfect! Thank-you so much . I just bought 3 last wk. good time to get my refund! And go to the dollar store ! However, one of my vents in the back porch . Half of the vent is in the tiny laundry room the other half of vent is in the small porch . Any ideas what I can do in that area ? ?? It’s so hard to get at ! My porch is like an ice box due to the vent is placed wrong !!! Grrrrrrr
Hello Rachel at The Ponds Farmhouse. I was showing my husband this video because he has been complaining about the vent in his Computer Room....forget the vent! Where did you get the dresser? I absolutely LOVE it....A.W.
It was a thrift store find and then I transformed it. You can see the details here - www.thepondsfarmhouse.com/amazing-furniture-transformation-before-after/
Thank you so much that is way cool and it's way way cheaper and with the president we have at the present time, NO ONE can even afford a vent extender or a vent cover!😂 You're a life saver!
Thank you. I need to make mine to go out sideways. The vents are in inconvenient places because women weren't a part of building the structure. Sorry, men, I love you but you know I'm right😊

How effective is this when it comes to heat?
Yes it works great with heat.
any way to take this plan and adjust it to a wall vent?
I’ve not attempted that. If it’s beside furniture, I think you might could direct the airflow upward.
There are 8 usd a piece in Mexico them aliminium tin pans
Can be fire hazard if covered by furniture
Yes that’s why it’s important to use an air vent deflector.
Thank you so much that is way cool and it's way way cheaper and with the president we have at the present time, NO ONE can even afford a vent extender or a vent cover!😂 You're a life saver!

Yeah I’m gonna save my money on air ducts so I can buy a hat from my favorite politician so he can pay his legal fees 😅 get a grip
