    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

The advice is found inbetween the lines.
So this guy here, a producer, got pitched a great story up until the screenwriter said "...but I direct." Our producer admits directing/writing is a nonstarter for him yet he almost got hooked anyway and then turns and says "Dont do what he did to me because I would have never listened!" It almost worked and more importantly the guy got you to hear out his whole pitch.
Second point, so what about the actual shooting of the script. Who cares? The script is already sold by this point. Screenwriter job accomplished. Our producer is missing the plot. He produces and writes yet so much irony.
Leads me to my third point, and what you get from alot of these uploads: When asked a question about the letter B, person responds with anecdotes about the number 5.

I pitched a script. I spoke as if I was talking about a close friend of mine who has a crazy life.

Never pitched, but the biggest mistake I see is telling the events of the story from beginning to end. No one cares. You get them to care by talking about the character. So talk about the character, and how the story affects them. Also, a pitch should be 1-2 minutes tops. You should have a script already written, in case they want to read it. Don't ask anyone to read your script. If you pitch it well, and they're interested, they'll ask you. That's all there is to it.

I've always figured that without a script to pitch, what's the point???
That said, even a work that's "done but not quite polished" is better than no product at all...
Might also consider reference to things like the "plot summary" entries in sites like Wiki-pedia... Like the video said, "If it's not on the page, it's not part of the pitch"... SO a reasonable summary is the hard thing to define. Taking the time to scour through the various old TV episodes, movies, plays, whatever and by what category you find interesting can substantially display what kind of written work probably should be involved in the sales-ish portion of a "hand out"... and let's just face it, most of the time, it seems there's going to be a brief sort of explanation of what you want to pitch, and then interest entirely falls to the hand-out material, even for "later reference" or "perusal".
As you point out, if they're interested in the short "hand-out" version, they can always ask for the script... Then depending on your confidence in the product as it is "in hand" you can follow-up with whatever exposition you feel appropriate...
It's worth mention that sales and "pitching" go hand in hand, and come from very much the same sort of performance place. Communication skills are a must, BUT the part they don't tell you is that those skills ALSO involve being able to "read" people for body language, attention, or that glassy-eyed expression they suddenly don after asking, "How's it going?" and you respond with a deep ragged sigh, and "Well... god... Let me tell you..." ;o)

I've been asking myself on wheather do you have to approach a production while you already completed a script or not?If not then how could you have delt with a copyright of incomplete script?do you have to register and copyright your idea and script even if you're not sure if wheather would it sell or be accepted by a particular production?

Any advice on how public to make a script without losing certain rights to it?

    • @tonywatkins586

Hi Michael. Copyright your script. Then don't be precious about it. You have to get it out there, for people to find it. Think of it like this .... Why would you wear a condom/rubber if you're alone? Copyright it and get it our there. Good luck.

@@tonywatkins586 There was a website that claimed they would distribute your script to hundreds of industry people, agents etc. for a few. Worth the money or is there a list somewhere that I could do it myself?

@@michaeljude yeh don't pay for those. Scam. The way in... Is a lot of networking. It's so frustrating, but that's the way the industry is setup. Try and meet people in the industry. Cold calling wont work.

Again this producer admits that the screenplay was brought to him by someone. Without that someone to literally introduced the script to someone who can make the movie it will never be read confirming that screenwriters might as well pitch their screenplay to a brick wall without insider representation.

Was the title changed? If you want advice, maybe begin with subject/verb agreement.
