- I take one CRT TV from the 90s and connect a modern PlayStation 5 to it. An interesting fact is that both devices are Sony branded. These are pure Japanese devices. The only difference is that Sony CRT TV was made in the 90s, and Sony Playstation 5 is from 2020.
What will come of this and is it worth connecting Playshen 5 to a CRT TV? You will find out in this video. I did this because I was interested in what it would look like!

I do really enjoy this kind of things. Old and gold classy CRT showing some modern stuff. I do play Dreamcast with VGA on a CRT Compaq monitor. The joy of listening the buzzing when it turns on, the colors, the memories, are undescriptible. Big fan already 📺✨

The same can be said about PS3 and PS4. . The 7th generation of gaming is when I had to get my first HDTV because some games starting to be unplayable on CRT TV at that point.

I love hooking up systems to my crt. I just love the scanlines and the look of it.
I work with electronics and you shouldn't wiggle the A/C cord around like that, or any cord for that matter. It can break the port off the motherboard. Insert the cord as straight as possible. You also shouldn't connect the power cord to the ps5 or display until all other cords are plugged into their respective ports. You can damage the HDMI or other ports if the system or television/monitor has power going to it.

I had a feeling smaller text will be a lot harder to read on newer consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so I usually have a Series X connected to an HDMI-to-VGA adapter and a CRT VGA monitor. VGA used to have the best picture quality until DVI and HDMI came along, and my only existing CRT computer monitor uses VGA anyways. At least it's big enough to display such small text on these newer console games.
Nice experiment, Natalie. Who would have thought that you can hook up a ps5 to an old school tv. Very retro like experimentation right there. I can imagine playing a Nintendo Switch with that crt tv. This is quite fascinating right there. Keep it retro, sister😎 🎮

1:05 This terminal is used for displaying the currently-selected channel or input to another TV or capture card. The top terminals are the one to go for, since the TV has one Video input.

Yo tengo una trinitron de 21" todo bien, los negros perfectos, y su clara inclinación hacia la izquierda que les pasan a todas las crts sony. El problema de usar una con un ps4 e incluso con un 360 (que es mas viejo) es que las letras, indicaciones y demás notificaciones dinámicas se ven de manera miniatura. Eso obliga a cambiar a una tv en hd si o si. Y yo me rehuso :)
Lo puedes hacer con un reescalador mejor que el del video, para pasar la señal a video por componentes, y de ahí a una tele con esos conectores. Se ve mejor que acá, perfectamente escalado.

I mean what were people really expecting to happen? It’s just showing the same image in lower resolution, and being projected off old hardware. But all you’d need is an adapter of sorts so you can plug HDMI into an old TV set as shown in the video.

I can't believe the input was mono. There were so many stereo CRTs around back in the day.
I couldn't find a compact CRT TV with stereo
One, the image is a bit overscan, but that's expected with a solution like this. Two, this TV only accepts mono audio, which means the player can't hear half of what's happening.
Some CRT can also have widescreen and even stereo. Which i kinda prefer more when you use CRT with 16:9 aspect ratio for modern consoles.
Not sure if this converter will cause any delay, or maybe its only the case plugging old console to HDMI conversion.

@@zsombor_99 not sure if this is common. I remember having stereo. Beside if TV had headphone jack, you could theoretically use an Adapter for stereo audio.
@@MisterYeko But if there's only one RCA beside the video input, that indicates the TV is mono. The headphone output probably combines the left and right side of the connected headphone to mono.
Smaller TV's are often mono but larger TV's usually have stereo.
I don't recommend any CRT *TV* for bad focus. If you have any CRT monitor-computer (but the horizontal frequency of 70kHz or higher required for work 1080p@60Hz, you need to buy a HDMI to VGA adapter. 🙂
if you actually find a good crt you could have an experience on par with a modern oled 2k 100hz display!! Some top of the line crt's were nuts!
I looked at reviews of good CRT TV models, but as it turned out, such TVs weigh 60 kg. I can’t lift such a heavy device and I have nowhere to store it. But I hope I can come up with something.
@@NatalieRetroStuff One of the best models is the Viewsonic G220FB, it can reach up to an impressive 2048x1536 resolution at 68 hertz, while going all the way up to 180hz with lower resolutions. It weighs around 27kgs and it's a really cool crt overall. The only 2 issues are the price and possibly how to get the max quality when connecting it to a ps5 instead of a pc.
Last time I ever used a crt was when I got my PS3 super slim, it didn't belong to anyone it was left by the previous tenants who lived there. Got an HDTV when I had to move because of covid. I wish I ran back and picked the crt up before it was too late because eventually I got a Super Famicom and an N64.

I'd totally be careful that you don't get a bad, round neck when playing games or watching movies inside these fluffy, pillow-like things.
There are some really comfortable swinger chairs with headrests called POÄNG from IKEA, created by the Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura, where you can really lean back with the whole body in an ergonomic way and where you can also swing back and forth a little bit.
For around 110 bucks it's one of the most comfortable chairs for console gaming, watching movies or simply listening to music. ))

these tv's introduced television into out lives dont mock them they were a must in any house. and they live on.
It's better to use hd source via downscale converter in order to get better video quality. The most popular one is ossc pro with analog output

Graphics like in PS2 or PS1 but more heat generation. Old consoles are superior today at some points.

When you shoot in the leg, he starts jumping to the other. There are a lot of moments like this that surprise us now.
@@NatalieRetroStuff I was rather a PC gamer. I started playing GameCube like 2 years ago and I was impressed by its shaders which were far better than those from PC in early 2000s. Also textures are often better than in Wii games because they were made with other technique which bases on reusing the same texture for UV maps for different models and use one high quality texture few times instead of few with poor quality.

Do you know those small black and white portable TVs with a radio? You should try plugging the PS5 into those. It worked with my PS2, and it was a funny experience (courtesy of its tiny screen).
I connected my PS1 to this portable TV and it works! Next time I'll try to connect the PS5.

There are no pixel in the CRT TV they work differently - but - it is ok
Why would anyone want to use the old TVs ever again I have them at home but their only for the old consoles that I no longer play on I love earning achievements and trophies 🏆 and playing on powerful consoles when these old consoles were here I was shopping for arcade machines what sucked they only came with one game they costed around $500-$3,000 I dealt ripped off now with arcade 1 up you get 14 games not just 1 game
They have better refresh rate and retro games look better on them.

that exactly how some pc gamers play. got the cash, bought a beast of pc but lack the knowledge to upgrade to a proper-spec monitor, change the frequency of the monitor, tune graphics settings per pc specs. even worse plug into the motherboard hdmi. It is so sad i know them personally lmao.

I really love this TV. And I hope it doesn't break. It sometimes turns off due to overheating. I think it's worth cleaning it from dust.
