Recently snagged a brand new Hylux kit with morimoto 5k bulbs for $80 local and couldn’t be happier with the setup. Been letting the bulbs break in for about a month now and literally night and day difference with lightning performance on the road. Thank you for this video and the tips provided about swapping the positive & negative on the molex connector and the white shipping ring on the bulb. Install was a breeze and everything worked perfectly

Always! This is the same approach we take on any car coming into the shop.
Note, as far as standard 3M red backed tape, be VERY careful. I've found it loses adhesive properties FAST in the cold. Had rearview cameras fall off the body during normal road bumps in the frigid cold. Tape was installed correctly on cleaned surfaces, too. Mounting tape is better, or use the 3M red tape with self tapping screws as the tape will help the screws by leaving a basic tackiness but leave the majority of load bearing to the screws.
I have a 22’ HRV and did the Hilux 45w with Morimoto 6k bulb and for the fogs I ran the morimoto 4 banger hxb wide in yellow. All thx to Lightwerkz for getting all my set up completed

HID for the win as always. Just because something is modern doesn't mean it's going to work better than "old" technology and I'm shocked by how well those Morimoto bulbs perform in stock halogen projectors. The fog lights however from the angles provided, leave a little to be desired and the stock housings seemed to have way more width than the new LEDs. Great video Cesar!
Again, each application is different so results vary. I agree, this application works really well with HID inside the factory halogen projectors. I was surprised myself! Agreed on the width of the new fogs. Surprisingly did not see to be an upgrade in that department - guess the original fog design is quite good in that aspect. But the LED is much brighter and more usable with that nice crisp cutoff.

I just purchased the Hylux 35w CAN-BUS HID kit and paired it with the NHK 6500k D2S bulbs for my custom headlight build. I also added the LED projector for my high beam.
I sent you guys an e-mail detailing the complete build along with how everything turned out.. very good stuff!
What I would recommend is doing a projector replacement considering that factory projectors are prone to oxidation and pitting. Not much you can do after that point, regardless of the lighting system used.
For the fog light, the morimoto matchbox projectors with HIDs of your choice, would be a great option because of the light pattern being more solid. Of course this is my opinion obviously, but seeing how well the Hylux kit is doing, I would suggest that over any LED bulb replacement.
Thanks for sharing ! As you mentioned, Projector retrofit is the best option! However not everyone is going to want to take on a serious project. This video was geared toward the crowd that is looking for a simple upgrade on their factory projector equipped models. You do bring up a great point though. Some projectors are burned up and will require replacement to truly maximize results. It’s never a “one size fits all” approach to lighting upgrades.

Wow that is very bright. I may consider these for my 2013 Accord Coupe as I have LEDs right now that don't have the sharpest cutoff. I am wanting to eventually get the nhk bi-led retrofit since I have clear reflectors that need to be installed and want sequential switchbacks.
Install the HID system and you will notice a big boost over your LED! If you want color that matches closest to your LED you would go with 6K..5K is a bit brighter but more of a neutral white.
I've heard the LED projectors from NHK have a LOT of foreground to them. Still good cutoff and Hotspot, but the mfr is chasing the brightness ratings over best beam pattern. I'd stick to an HID solution, not to mention that if a component in the lighting circuitry in a LED projector fails, then you have to open the headlight to replace (though driver is replaceable outside the headlight in M-LEDs). Not so with bi-xenon.
So, for less crucial systems like separate high beams or the fogs, I think LED retrofit would be fine, but low beams are 100% safety crucial and need maximum serviceability so you don't have to deadline your (possibly only) car till you can find time to remove and open up your headlights. I'd only really trust LEDs if they're placed into halogen setups and properly adjusted (so, you need adjustable ones like the 2-strokes) and thus replaceable fast with halogens from auto zone or (insert common auto parts store here) should one fail on you unexpectedly, or a factory sealed unit (much higher quality and longevity than the LED retrofit projectors currently available). Otherwise, HID, baby. Serviceability AND output. All you sacrifice is instant-on, which isn't crucial for a light source you usually leave on once you turn it on, like low beams.

Fair point! I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get to a point where I can get things lined up to become an installer for you guy's... nothing here in south Georgia. Headlight Revolution and retrofit source would be my only real competition.

i seem to have an issue where only the driver side occasionally doesn't turn on, got new ballast, new wiring harness, new bulbs, and it'll still happen sometimes. when i turn it on, i hear this buzzing sound but it doesn't fire up, any ideas what could be the issue?
did you only have to plug in only one oem connector to get the lights to turn on? on my accord only the drivers side oem connector is pluged in but both headlight turn on.
Have y'all done any retrofits on Mazda 5s?
When are we getting selectable kelvin temps for variable road and weather conditions?!
Personally if I had an array option like some of the acuras - I would do a different color temp for each one

Why did you not recommend the plug-n-play Morimoto XB LEDs fog headlights?
They are really great if they are the ONLY option for full housing replacement. With options like the Elite Series, 4Banger, and SS3, those perform much better and come in more colors and power levels.
Do HID bulbs end up burning the reflective coating of the bowls slowly? How does the stock wiring hold up without a relay harness?
There are certain projectors that simply don't stand the test of time, even with stock halogen bulbs. HID bulbs will accelerate this process. Many Kia and Hyundai are this way. The answer to your question is that it varies between models. Most models we install HID kit without any concerns. Stock wiring holds up just fine with these Hylux ballasts since they draw power slowly. If you have a ballast pulling high amounts of power, then you will use a relayed wiring harness off the battery.
I just got the kit today, does the black rubber grommet get cut off? And is the ground used?
You can leave that or remove it. Ground on the ballast is optional.
Do you recommend the 5k or 6k for the si? The other video you posted a year ago with the civic si was 5k and seemed to match better? Let me know! So I can finally buy it!!
The 5k appear to match better from far away. I feel that 6k has a bluish tint
5K is a better useable color for lighting performance. The other video we did not change out the fog lights. You could do a 4K or a 5K on the stock halogen fogs or even change the fogs to yellow Elite Series LED. But I think if you want white LED fogs, the 6K is a closer match up. Cant go wrong either way!

Hi getting ready to check out. Do you think the 6k is okay if I decide to stick with the stock fogs for now. Will eventually get the fogs
My issue is getting my alignment back to how it should be after running led for 2 years. It's freezing out too. How would you recommend getting my factory lights back to stock level? I wish there was a factory leveler built in. I had to adjust them when I had led because I blinding the crap out of everyone. Funny part too is all that light and I still couldn't see as well as I can with hid. How high is the top of the beam in this video if you even know?

Are there any halogens with a cool color that could perform as good as the HID ?
Nothing. Any halogen bulb with a tinted capsule performs worse than stock.
I want to ask you, i like the NHK V plus led but i dont understand why i have to replace the whole thing if it failed!! Why they made it like this?
If they got damage withen 2-3 years! Will be pain to replace them

This is how true LED projectors are produced in the aftermarket and for OEM LED equipped models. There are no replaceable parts because they do not use bulbs.
I currently have morimoto xb hids 35w 5500k in h1 8.0 projectors. They seem dim, any recommendations for bulb replacements down the road?
You gave me another great video idea. Why are people still using the H1? There are many better units out there now. Anyhow, if it's been a few years you need to change out the bulbs. We recommend every 2-3 years for aftermarket HID bulbs. Sadly with H1 fitment, you are limited to bulbs. GO with the Morimoto's again.
@@LightwerkzGlobal thanks, it was the only retrofit that could fit in my original head light housing 2.5 inches 2015 Honda civic (or so at least I was told). I read somewhere that lower kelvin rating usually means better brightness / output?
Yes, the higher the Kelvin you reduce intensity. You can retrofit your headlights with a full size 3" unit, we have some options if you want to contact us directly. @@titanhyperionn
So can I use this same system if I have an SI civic?
Of course.
What do you prefer for fog lights? White or yellow? I have yellow film over some white led's that have a sharp cutoff.
Yellow for actual fog use. White if you keep them on all the time with your low beams and want that matching look. Yellow film over white LED produces a washed out yellow. Not as clean but on some models thats the only option you got. Morimoto produces the 2stroke 3.0 in yellow which is actually a nice golden yellow color.
@@LightwerkzGlobal I did 3 layers and got it to a golden yellow. 1 layer was too green. What’s the best temp for HID? I just picked up some Hylux 35w to try out in my Accord over the LEDs
So the problem with layers is you cut down the light intensity significantly with each layer. The best useable color temperature is usually 4K / 4300K which is what all OEM Xenon lights are spec'd at. But it's a warm white color, which isn't what some people are looking for. But it performs best in bad weather and it's easy on the eyes at night. @@Newyen6MT
@@LightwerkzGlobal Def less intense but still very bright and sharp compared to the factory Honda reflector fogs and switchbacks I had in them which glared up and was not low to the ground. I am looking for a 5500k HID and people said NHK has some but I don’t see it on the website. I am thinking 5k for a cooler white but not 6k. I have 6500k LEDs right now and it’s tough to see when raining. I had 6k before and it was def a bit better but still not the greatest LED.
You can give the 5K a try. As long as you dont mind the color change to a warm white color from 6K. Worse case scenario you are out a set of aftermarket bulbs. They aren't too pricey.
