- Potato harvest in Belgium. The potatoes were harvested with the farmer's Grimme Varitron 470 Terra Trac. A New Holland T8.435 Smarttrax with Dezeure 3-axle high discharge trailer and Turbocleaner loaded the potatoes in trucks trailers that are pulled by tractors with a dolly that were used to transport the potatoes directly to the storage.

You're probably right, yes! But on the other hand, trucks can only drive on roads with smooth tyres, while tractors are better suited to off-road use. 😁
Ah, I think it's a way of getting around gross weight limits on trucks, a tractor and trailer can haul more weight but at lower speeds
Tractors run red diesel in Belgium, so without added tax, tractors can be operated by 16yrs old so the cost of operating is significantly lower. Pretty that will offset the 2 hrs drive. If there is no highway on this route a truck wouldn't be much faster anyway.
@@sparqqling you’re right tractors in Belgium are running on red diesel, so in this way it could be cheaper. But 16 yr old people are not allowed to drive this combination on the Belgian roads, because this is higher than 20 tons MTM

Guessing its just a choice of the designers. There are potato harvesters that unload to the left too.

Sweet potatos cant be harvested with heavy machinery, so they get picked up by hand.
