You are doing an outstanding job-- nice little bit of non-obnoxious music, nice clear annunciation, and a seemingly nice fellow with a good sense of humor-- we'll be watching here in central Pennsylvania in the USA. Keep it up.
If you're prepared to except that you have to put a little work in to get the most basic amenities, you'll be ok. Since I've been living on the boat, I have noticed a lot of women doing this on their own, and they seem happy!
G'day mate and greetings from Tasmania Australia, you have done the right thing in my mind what a peaceful life we don't have them over here and it's a real pity I can't think of anything better than living one of these, I have subscribed and look forward to watching you again stay safe regards John
I’m now in your position sir! Zero experience full time carer for my little old mom. Just sold our villa in Spain as she wants to do this. I look forward to watching all your videos. Love your accent btw
I’ve just seen your vlogs and thought I’d start watching from the beginning. Have wanted to live on a narrowboat for years, but things tie you down; just thought I’d wish you well on you big move.
Just came across your channel Vince, so excited for you! Am in the process of getting house ready for putting on the market, like yourself I'm trying to sell most of my stuff and donating the rest. Fingers crossed a barge is in my very near future ❣️ although truth be told I'm a little terrified if I'm doing the right thing (I know I'll love it once I get settled in), but it is kind of scary doing it all by myself.. Can't wait to see the rest of your vlogs, stay safe 🧚
It is a bit of a steep learning curve when you get there, and a lot of work to get there. All I can say is, don't be scared of it, you'll love it. If you watch the rest of the videos, you can see how I improve every episode, Cheers Vince
Finding these vids really interesting...thinking about doing the same thing...buying a boat and touring the canals.....initially a bit further to travel to find the canals....will be coming over from Australia.......would like to figure out a way of putting a motorcycle on board too, lots to learn....have subscribed...look forward to watching more vids.
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle Thanks for the feedback.....will continue to enjoy your insights to boating life......any chance you could do a vid on how people mount motorbikes....etc to their boats...or share some images ? Cheers.
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle As a retired boatbuilder I can tell you not to worry about props singing, it is merely resonance at a particular RPM. If you just nudge the throttle up or down it will disapear. From the bit ofthe film the prop looked ok. Have fun.
Planning on doing the exact same thing Vince. The lockdown put a bit of a spanner in the works but seeing your video has got me motivated again. Best of luck, maybe see you on the cut some day?
Hi Vince, only just found this and I am looking forward to the next update, as someone who also has never been on a narrow boat I have spent a lot of time researching the pros and cons for myself if I make the leap, I have subscribed to your channel and hopefully its the right boat for you, if not then hopefully the next one is the right one, I am looking at 50 feet or more , not a pump out I want to go compost, and a side hatch,
Hi Si, sounds like you are looking for a very similar boat, I was leaning towards a Composting toilet as you are not so tied down to emptying it as much! Good luck and if you make the leap, all the best!
You sound just like me, I am just waiting for exchange on my house then will be doing what your doing. I've never even been on a narrow boat but I've spent the last 6months researching on UA-cam and buying books etc. Good luck and maybe we might crash into each other soon.
If you're like me you'll love it! You'll probably have a few doubts on whether you've done the right thing or not when you get the boat and start living on it! Once you get used to it you'll be fine!
Looks pretty good from first seeing it out of the Water, looking forward to seeing the next vlog of Aitch, and hopefully many more of your cruising adventures down the Canals 😎👍😉
Ok I am no expert on boats, but if something vibrates between certain speeds it usually means it is out of balance. In a boat that would be the prop, but there again it could be a bearing or the shaft is fractionally out of alignment at the joint where the engine output shaft meets the main shaft, or it could even be issues with the engine mount's. The only to be certain, is to be there so the vibration can be heard, felt and maybe even seen, I suppose someone could bend a prop blade but I would have thought that's very unlikely. Anyway by now I expect you have worked out what's causing the vibration.
Prop still sings at certain revs! (it doesn't vibrate) I've just learned to nudge the throttle up or down a touch! I asked around and apparently its a common problem with Narrowboats! They do seem to be thrown together a bit when built Peter!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle That's interesting, something I will remember to listen for once I start checking out boats, and I plan to start later this year, have to admit I am a bit nervous about the whole thing but the more I see here the more I am convinced it's the right thing for me to do as I learnt a great deal from chatting to boat owners here.
Vince, just came across your channel and glad I did. You certainly have big b***s to do that. Wish you well in your journeys. Have watched several of your videos and loving them. Something my Wife and I talk about a lot about doing it so watching your jouney with great interest.
At the time, I wasn't worried about entertaining people or records. I was going to make one of the biggest decisions in my life! And Would be spending a massive amount of money (for me) on something that I didn't have a clue about. It seemed more important to me to concentrate on what I was being told about the boat, so that I could make the correct decision. So hopefully you can forgive me for cutting off the best bit!

What would be a rough estimate on buying a boat (50 to 60 ")from scratch to getting out on the water. I'm seriously thinking about it.🤞👍
Around £50,000 I'd say! For an half decent Narrowboat!
Thanks for the speedy reply👍 just at starter stage but definitely going to do it.

Do you have to paint where they have scraped before you put it back In the canal
No old grunger, they only scrape off the Algae!
