+xpertgamerable He looks likes kinda like Abe (from Oddword) + Raziel (from Legacy of Kain). Weapon, clothes and body reminds me of this 2 characters, and also moving style. When he climbs, it strongly reminds me of Abe Exodus first cinematic.
***** Well considering that the original cerebrates were gelatinous masses of twisted organs, I doubt a human like bipedal form is attractive to the zerg. I suspect what makes her attractive is her passion and confidence.
Peter St I don't think you understand the Zerg. The cerebrates were created by the overmind to extend his influence. Kerrigan functions like a cerebrate, but unlike the cerebrates, Kerrigan can move around. Moron? Whats with the animus?
I think the best villain i've ever seen from a video game was Sovereign from Mass Effect 1. When you finally have a conversation with it, it was pretty damn scary to have some hard truths laid out on you, and it genuinely felt like this ominous threat. No humor, no jokes, no silliness, just cold, calculated genocide.
TheDrexxus ... I think within ME itself the best was TIM. A complex character and one could agree with some of his motivations. MCEU Thanos reminded me of TIM. BioWare greatly misused TIM in ME3
It’s an interesting case. It surely was awesome villain, but in-universe... even without Starcraft II plot I don’t think human Sarah Kerrigan would’ve been happy to become such a creature.
+cfb sdg No thanks to Wings of Liberty. She sucked in that game. No character depth whatsoever, just some two-dimensional evil alien overlord with no real personality. She was way better in Brood War, and became way better again in Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
+UnitDCCXXXI I agree with your opinion . She appears wery little in WoL but when she dose is powerfull (for me) . I like her coolnes and dignity . Wish there are more characters like her , today i found only shallow characters in games or movies . As for Legacy of the Void i think they could do better for story and for Kerrigan it just feel incomplete that story feels like someones dream
cfb sdg The only thing about Kerrigan's appearance in the Protoss campaign in LotV that bothers me is Artanis just decides to work with her. Assuming he knew about her deinfestation and reinfestation, there's still a loose end to tie up. No mention is made of the Protoss colony she butchered AFTER being de-infested. I'd be willing to let this one slide and write it off as "He just didn't know," but apparently Selendis in the opening cinematic knew Zeratul had helped her, since she referred to him as a traitor and it likely wasn't because of mercy-killing Razsagal. Plus she KNEW he didn't intentionally give away Aiur's location in SC1. This SUGGESTS he is aware of what happened on Kaldir. If they'd just mentioned the incident, and then handwaved it off, it wouldn't have been perfect, but it would've still been an improvement on what we got. Don't get me wrong, I was SATISFIED with Legacy of the Void, I just don't think it was perfect.
cfb sdg Yeah. There are ways to improve on the story, but what we got is enough to keep the franchise alive, although I really think Legacy is the end of the line. They wrapped up almost everything. Which I actually respect: It's very tempting to leave some hole to fill in so they could cash-whore out a StarCraft III, but nope, they even killed off the supposedly unkillable Amon. The biggest threat left that I can think of is the UED, but really even that will simply be an excuse plot if it's employed.
I love how Kerrigan's feet are now just organic high heels. Like, the implication there being that zerg super evolution and amplifying the best traits and adding new ones where needed, somehow decided having permanent high heels was genetically superior. Like, what?
Maybe its just that human part of Kerrigan that still wants to look good while being a badass. Ofc the real reasons are cuz BOOBA but lets pretend there's an ingame one.
Emperors wore high heels because they wanted to look tall not because they feel good to wear on your feet. In the long run some heels will turn into foot problems and in the short term can actually be dangerous to wear because of their instability. Kerrigan wears them probably as a piercing weapon and because she does not need much to try to balance. And Blizzard decided to give her that feature to impress others.
Because it sounded ultra badass and yet at the same time foreboding, it made you feel scared of the Xel'Naga. The fact that Kerrigan, a very powerful being in her own right, says it so matter-of-factly: when they come, its over. Nothing can be done about this, you cant stop or change it, you can merely accept it. When these gods arrive, our entire "big" war between Protoss, Zerg and Terrans will matter no more than a fight between 3 ant colonies would, while an atomic bomb is dropped on the forest. Sadly, HotS and LotV shat all over that, by revealing that all Xel'naga are dead-dead and its only Amon, and then even turning Amon into a generic shit-talking idiot who archieved literally nothing.
"Do you hear them, Zeratul? Whispering from the stars . . . the galaxy will *burn* with their coming..." I absolutely love her the delivery of these lines, especially the end where the destruction she's describing is said in a harsh whisper. I believe a different female voice actress should have gotten that award for best female VA, but this was still well deserved. Good job, Tricia Helfer.
I know nothing about Starcraft. Seriously, nothing whatsoever. Now, after watching this video, I have no idea what else I've been doing with my life. This is AMAZING!!! And now I have to learn EVERYTHING about it, including all the different characters. That woman. Her face, the tone of her voice, they way she's designed... perfection. Bravo, whoever decided to create her!!!
It is confirmed that as long as she is within the hive range she is still immortal. She will be playable in almost every campaign missions in HotS, and if she dies she'll just respawn back at home. This makes her a really crucial unit throughout the whole game.
Zeratul has to get up close and personal, and when he finally is, he is jumping away after doing some very minor damage and without finishing the job. Also, he is uncloaking BEFORE he attacks Kerrigan. One has to wonder if he has a secret agenda, is just plain dumb or if this scene was written for the sake of drama alone. Awesome 3D work and animation, though.
+Master Bruce kerrigan can see/sense him even when he is cloaked anyway. why he isnt using his blink ability to get into attack range to dodge her energyball is a whole different question tho.
Did not know she could, did not play the campaign. Still, it makes not much sense, he even cloaks again after hitting only what he should have known was not any vital point. Which is a still standing argument. But whatever, it's just a cinematic with the purpose of drama, we got more than enough data and logic in the game mechanics.
Well, to be honest, that was not a cloacking ability (zeratul is permanently cloacked on sc2, no matter he takes damage or attack or use abilities), and the dark cloud spell is a blink, that he uses also on sc2
As awesome as Zerry's smoke/cloak effect thing is - I never really pictured it that way in SC1. Seems a little more magicky/warcrafty (and less sci-fi/starcrafty) to have him cloak in a cloud of smoke...anyone else feel that way?
We made probably the greatest video game villian of all time. The fans love her. All hail the Queen of Blades - Old Blizzard Let's make her human again and turn it into some twisted love story with a guy she only knew for like 15 minutes. - New Blizzard
Why is the Zergs are all depicted with Hydralisks ? This one, Betrayal and the HoTS opening cinematics there are all close shots to Hydralisks, I wonder why.
@chris347270 : Are you sure you're not talking about Stim pack? It is a Terran Marine upgrade which makes them take 10 life damage but fire and move around faster for a short period of time.
Blizzard was always at the forefront of cinematic graphics. Hard to believe WoL came out 11 years ago and still looks this good. Also RIP one of the coolest characters in the StarCraft universe. Zeratul was always one of my favorites.
TheMuffinDoctor He was always saying that Kerrigan had a part to play in whatever comes. After Heart of the Swarm I believe it. Still, he could have easily taken her head off here instead of a wing. I think by the look on her face, she realized that.
marrier9999 Could have, but he missed. Kerrigan has always been incredibly powerful, but still mortal. That's why Zeratul ends up having to work so hard to keep her alive, without his intervention she'd end up dead and the galaxy would fall.
timemonkey Emphasis on 'incredibly powerful'. Protoss are much larger and heavier than humans, yet Zeratul's leap off of her doesn't even tip her over. Never mind the psionic powers; she could take on most enemies with her bare hands.
3:03 I'm not entirely sure if that's just the shadows but it looks a lot like Kerry checks the other wing when Zeratul is retreating like "oh mf did he cut both of them? No? No. Ok. Back at looking calm and badass."
Correction: The voice actor that voices Tychus did in fact NOT voice the Optimus Prime we all know, because the would be Peter Cullen (Voiced OP in the Movies and the original cartoon). Tychus only voiced Optimus Prime in a different cartoon show from 2000 or something, called Armada.
If I'm not mistaken, the anatomy of Protoss hand is different from what it was shown first time all those years ago. They usedto have four fingers, yes, but with two thumbs, one at each side of the palm.
@FoxLostInLove that's the first thing I noticed. I'm like Isn't that the same chick who voices Sylvannas once she's resurrected as that ranger who leads the banshees?
@tsdisee you obviously are a 40k fan or something.. seeings how starcraft has about 8 books alone not counting WC's 11 and Diablos already 6 books.. they wouldnt have any problem with the storyline..
Having only played Black Ops and the original Modern Warfare, the only disparity I can see is how the campaign of the former has the story unfold with or without you; the first mission can be completed without even firing your gun. Also, whilst the repeat buyers like the similarity between iterations, the fact that other shooters on the market (especially on PC) always have something new & shiny in each instalment makes the paper guns of CoD feel, well, lightweight. Black Ops 2 though? Curious.
Notice how whenever Zeratul blinks, its in a dark place. He even bothers to turn off the lights when he blinks to Raynor. Maybe as a dark templar, he can't blink into the light?
That one where Kerrigan was so bad ass that she didn't need to use her claws at all because she could go cloak and could actually use lightening? Yea, I do.
Goddamit man, this is just one fight scene in WoL to feature a Protoss character. Just imagine how fight scenes in the Protoss campaign would be like. O_O
I heard Helfer's voice in this cinematic before I heard Campbell's, and I reckon Helfer in this situation actually sounded more like the infested Kerrigan of the first game. I don't know if it was the lack of voice effects added to Campbell's voice in the very original reveal of the cinematic, but she sounded even more high pitched than ever before, and the voice was less fitting with the body I was seeing. A lot of it probably did have to do with the lack of voice effects, but I don't know... I love Campbell as regular human Kerrigan, but I was never a big fan of her infested voice. It was fine, but I reckon that the Queen of Blades' voice in Wings of Liberty at least (maybe not Heart of the Swarm) has grown on me and is more preferable in my opinion. Helfer's fine as human Kerrigan, but I miss the cuteness in Kerrigan's original voice. The only real reason why I wish Glynnis was kept is because of consistency. It bothers me when one character has two different voices depending on the product. I really wonder why she wasn't kept. If you didn't know, Glynnis Talken Campbell (the original voice of Sarah Kerrigan) did voice Kerrigan in Kerrigan's very first reveal for StarCraft II. There were no voice effects to make her sound Zergy though. Of course afterwards Tricia Helfer was casted and ultimately used instead. For what reason? I don't know, but some people assume it's because Helfer is a more popular person, or because of money, or...I don't care because I don't know for sure.
@tsdisee survival is always a good story line. Of course they could turn into a much more interesting script for a film changing a few things, but the background is all there....
@nintram The voice is just similar, however, even though this voice actor seems like the one that did Optimus prime, it is not, the actor that voices Tychus findlay however, Is the one that voiced Optimus.

I like how Kerrigan's Zerg mutation gave her high heels
The pinnacle of evolution
Its not mutation or zerg evolution. Kerrigan is basically a mobile zerg cerebrate, and as such she can manipulate her form.
***** Well considering that the original cerebrates were gelatinous masses of twisted organs, I doubt a human like bipedal form is attractive to the zerg. I suspect what makes her attractive is her passion and confidence.
rsbrock20 She's not a cerebrate moron

Zeratul is so badass
legolasegb agree
Oh, that laugh, sends shivers down my spine.
Spooky, Scary, Skeletons. Send shivers down my spine...
3:18 damn she's a ZILF
Lmao
🤣
I love how the roles have changed later, and Zeratul became the one who was all about uniting factions against the common foe
Kerrigan's voice is amazing.
its so gripping and beautiful in a way. it's almost as amazing as Fran's from FF12.

given Warcraft had some flaws in the story and the budget for sci fi is much more it wont be at least 5 years before they start making one.
When you can kill a Hydralisk in one hit, you know you're badass.
You mean like Warfield in Char who just one punched a Hydra?
If you can kill a hydralisk close combat, even if it would take hours, you're still a badass
Well, he does deal 100 (109) damage per swing, In SC1 this was the second highest stat in the game, below Dukes Siege mode attack of 150 (165)
after all cinematics, i thinks this one is on the tops of all starcraft 2expansions

@Trybut3 They are weapons, kind of like claws/whip, you can see it in the original Starcraft

@BlackThunder9274 I think the Zergs are connected into a hive mind, so if Sarah can see Zeratul, his stealth is compromised to the rest anyway..
fck! i never get tired of watching this over and over for already a few years
@YuTe3712
I noticed that too, except I labeled the protoss as the Elites specifically.
This cutscene is cool still has a bit of that dark energy from SC1
Having only played Black Ops and the original Modern Warfare, the only disparity I can see is how the campaign of the former has the story unfold with or without you; the first mission can be completed without even firing your gun. Also, whilst the repeat buyers like the similarity between iterations, the fact that other shooters on the market (especially on PC) always have something new & shiny in each instalment makes the paper guns of CoD feel, well, lightweight. Black Ops 2 though? Curious.
the Best video i have ever seen in my life.
@Sirlancelot555 maybe he can teleport however he wants to, but it makes him tired. so he cant do it so often...like a cooldown :D
Yea, I do.
2:49 , her wing seems still attached, and gets knocked back with her.
Goddamit man, this is just one fight scene in WoL to feature a Protoss character. Just imagine how fight scenes in the Protoss campaign would be like. O_O
God! Their new voices take all the emotion out of the characters..
The best cinematic of that game episode!
@tsdisee
survival is always a good story line. Of course they could turn into a much more interesting script for a film changing a few things, but the background is all there....
That ghost outfit in HoTS... I appreciate.
"The storm is coming that can not be stopped! Fitting, that we should face oblivion together."
The powers I draw from the void can only allow me to do so much.
@nintram The voice is just similar, however, even though this voice actor seems like the one that did Optimus prime, it is not, the actor that voices Tychus findlay however, Is the one that voiced Optimus.
“Fitting that we will face oblivion together “
“NEVER!!”
I was 18 years old when this came out . Now im 32
