    Just a quick summary:
    1. Doing the method wrong
    fix: use an easier method like MILD
    2. Not being in REM-sleep.
    fix: Use an mantra or alarm to wake up during a dream.
    3. Certain medications which lower the changes of dreaming
    fix: look up the effects from your meds online about dreaming
    4. Having poor dream recall
    fix: Start a dream journal so you are more aware in your dreams.
    If I messed up somewhere please tell me.

It works for me everytime, first I lay on my back and thats when i close my eyes and keep my mind awake, I begin to talk in my head and start seeing patterns and shapes swirling around. Wow I am actually kind of mind blown right now. I was searching for videos why can't I lucid dream and you really gave amazing tips. Last night I tried to use the mantra to wake up during the REM and also to wake up at a specific time and I just sort of set the intention and repeated it in my head for a few times and I was literally amazed when I woke up right in the middle of the dream. It's so amazing how powerful our minds are. I still have kind of bad dream recall, but I started to have a little more clear and first-person dreams, so I am working on it and I will hopefully lucid dream soon too! Thank you!

    • @Tipharot
      @Tipharot  7 років тому +2

      Lucid dreaming is really made up of 4 components: Lucidity, Clarity/Stability, Recall, and Control
      So just learning how to induce a lucid dream is only a small part of the picture. So by using a dream journal you're already improving your lucid dreaming skills without even entering one yet. So don't worry about how quickly or slowly you're progressing with actually inducing one yet - if you're doing things like using a dream journal, performing reality checks, meditating etc, you're already setting the stage so that when you do get lucid you can have longer, more stable, more vivid, and better lucid dreams overall. :) Keep it up!

    I had my first LD like 2 monyhs ago and I didn't have one since. I got really frustrated.
    Thanks to you I had my second LD last night.
    I never used autosuggestion to wake me up before and it worked on the first time.
    I stayed awake for like 10 minutes, went back to bed and attempted MILD.
    It was already 7 AM and I thought that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep again. At one point I decided to just imagine diving straight into a dream.
    I never thought that it would work, but I did it. I didn't even do a reality check. I knew that I was dreaming right away.
    At first I started flying. At some point I wanted to ask some important questions to my subconsciousness. I didn't get an answer.
    Tried it again by asking the same questions to dream characters and one said that it is best for me to not know the answer for these questions yet.
    I woke up after that. The LD was very short, but it was great.

    Hey, Tipharot. I don’t expect you to read this considering you have 28k subs and I’m sure the notifications are overwhelming, but I’m just not getting any results. Whenever I was young I was having a recurring nightmare and one day, my dad told me that I could control my dreams and that night I conjured a Gatling fun and took care of business. I now know that that was MILD, I guess. But I haven’t been able to have a lucid dream since then..I’ve been trying on and off for the last 5 years or so but I haven’t really committed to it until the last four months or so. I’ve tried all of the techniques and committed to them weeks at a time. I’ve been keeping a pretty detailed dream journal and thusly have been recalling more dreams but I just can’t have that first one. I even bought dreamleaf, with your code of course 😉 but it hasn’t been reaping me any results. I want to say I’ve watched almost all of your videos but nothing seems to be helping. I’ve watched a few other UA-camrs but I don’t care for them. If you can offer any more advice or even made it through this comment, let me know. Thanks a lot!

    • @Tipharot
      @Tipharot  6 років тому

      In these situations where someone has struggled to get lucid, but HAS been lucid before, I usually suggest going back to what worked. In the case of your previous lucid dream, it sounds less like MILD, and more like a dream induced lucid dream caused simply by you understanding that you can in fact control your dreams. What you described is actually how many people get their first lucid dreams. If you watch peoples first lucid dreaming stories on UA-cam, it's a reoccurring theme: Someone was having nightmares as a kid, they told their parents, and their parents told them to realise it's just a dream in future, or to do something about it in the nightmare. Lo and behold, it works and they become in control when they next have a nightmare.
      So perhaps you can focus on this. Take some time to recall that lucid dream you had before, and take a similar approach. Remind yourself that you are in control of your dreams, and that you can do whatever you want in them, and focus on that rather than on the traditional techniques. Sometimes that can be enough to make you realise you're dreaming.
      Since you have a detailed dream journal, I think that should be another area for you to focus on. Read through your entries and look for any reoccuring themes. You can link this to what I just suggested to you. Tell yourself that any time you encounter any of these themes, you'll know that you're probably dreaming, and you'll be in complete control. You can also add in reality checks to this process if you really want to increase your chances.
      Next up, don't worry! Sometimes trying *too* hard to lucid dream can have the opposite effect, because you want it so badly that you get in your own way. Take a break for a week or two from trying anything (still maintain your dream journal, but otherwise pay no attention to it), do some things you enjoy during that time. Then come back to it with a fresh mind. This time, rather than taking it so seriously, just say: Hey I'll give it a try, I'll see what happens. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, I'm not worried about that, I'll just give it a go. When you take a really laid back approach to it, lucidity comes a LOT easier in my experience.
      Good luck!

    I can't lucid dream because almost all my dreams are realistic. Of course most times a weird event occurs, but like i said it is realistic so me and people I know act the same, the plot is something that happens in the real world, the settings are mainly in places that I have been to regularly or in a number of occasions. So I think it would be hard for me to realise that I'm dreaming if there is nothing that shows itself that the dream isn't reality.

    In reference to the alarm, have you ever tried the "sleep" app? It's an alarm that is designed to monitor your sleep patterns based on movement so that it wakes you up at the right place in your sleep cycle. The monitoring is recorded so you can keep a log of your sleep quality.

    • @Tipharot
      @Tipharot  7 років тому +1

      I've just tried experimenting with the "Sleep as Android" app but it seemed to wake me up during the wrong stages of sleep. The first time the alarm went off I hadn't even fallen asleep yet! The second time it seemed like it was deep sleep that it woke me up in. I intend to experiment further but I think the accelerometer on my cheap phone might just not be that great so I might have to get a new phone first.

    • @perfectlyadaptable
      @perfectlyadaptable 7 років тому

      Oh yeah, the one I use, Sleep Cycle, uses the microphone instead of the accelerometer. I've found it to be quite effective. I'll still probably try to train myself to wake up without an alarm. Great videos by the way. Subscribed.

    Lately I've been aware of things that aren't right, which I like to call "dream logic" and sometimes I'm even aware that I'm dreaming, but it just doesn't seem to click. I just continue with the dream as normal. I'm thinking of maybe watching a bunch of lucid dreaming videos in order to more easily remember that I can do that when I become aware. I almost lucid dreamed one time but that was maybe a few years ago. I became aware and realized I could lucid dream, probably because I was doing a bit of research on it at the time. But I guess I got too excited because the world faded to black and I floated away. And then next thing I know it's night time and I'm in the middle of a gravel road with a gas station in the distance. Then I woke up. Hopefully this time I'm able to do it successfully.

    Hi tipharot, I just started following your channel and I liked this video and thought it would be great to ask my question here. I'm pretty knowledgeable in lucid dreaming and I've had 5 recorded lucid dreams since I started my endeavors. I've read a good chunk of literature about lucid dreaming, including Stephen LaBerge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming," and Evan Thompson's "Waking, Dreaming, Being," which both cover lucid dreaming extensively. Although I have experienced full lucidity, my last LD wasn't as intense as my other 4, and the last truly vivid and lucid experience I had was in October 2016. I started meditating on a daily basis in 2017 and have felt that this helps my dream recall as well as numerous other waking activities, however I still haven't been able to move past this "dry spell," as you called it in your recent video. I also vaporize cannabis on a daily basis as well, mainly in the evenings. I have been doing this long before I really got into lucid dreaming, and all 5 of my LDs have occurred during times where I was smoking. Some of them happened during "tolerance breaks," but others have happened after nights of heavy smoking. I know marijuana can cause reduction of REM sleep, but have noticed that I am still able to remember my dreams if I wake up before my day starts and then go back to bed. The dreams before this initial waking are usually spotty, and I can tell my brain is still under the influence of marijuana because my sleep is much deeper, but my dream recall has been developed enough to the point where I can still remember dreams even if I ingest cannabis before bed. Do you think my inability to become lucid is solely due to the cannabis? Thanks for the video.

    • @Tipharot
      @Tipharot  7 років тому +1

      It'll definitely contribute. If you're using cannabis regularly you more or less have to accept that you won't be able to get lucid as frequently as if you weren't. There are things you can do to minimise that though. Namely: take a couple of days off each week and go the extra mile to practice during those days, try to avoid vaping any before bed, and reduce the amount you vape after midday or so.

    My problem is that I’m kind of in a loop. I periodically have lucid dreams but they’re not deep enough. I can’t remember much except for my main goal so I don’t use methods to extend the dream. It’s also completely by luck so nothing helps. I do a dream journal, I do MILD, I do WILD, I do WBTB, I have even tried meditations and hypnosis, but none of it works, I just end up giving up and sleeping normally.

    my brain is weird. I remember my dreams constantly without a dream journal and when I do I remember them through out my life! I still remember my first remembered dream when I was 3 or 4 years old: Me and my mom were going hiking and there was a HUGE hole on the side of the mountain. I had my 2nd favorite plush with me (a black and white cat) and I accidentally dropped it down the hole. I was so sad... then there was a guy that peeked out from the bottom and caught it. He was small and was wearing a very scary skeleton mask. When he went back in the cave he teleported up to the top and appeared right next to me and my mom. Right then we knew we had to run so we sprinted to the car but the mountain was falling apart and we almost lost our balance. when we got to the car I woke up. pretty scary for a 3-4 year old. :/

      I don't think this is because you have ADHD. It's normal for a normal dreamer to see weird things and not become lucid. Just do reality checks. If you see yourself in 3rd person very often, then use that as a reality check. And if you can, you could get Lucidesc which is a lucid dreaming supplement.

    I've been trying it for months and even saw this video quite a while ago, but I just can't get to my first lucid dream. I've tried fild, mild, meditation, guided meditation, binaural beats, taking a cold shower before going to bed, reality checks and even wild about 1 ½ weeks, but nothing seems to work for me. Before I started this journey I binged many videos, but the excitement starts to fade now.
    I've trained my dream recall to the point where my dreams are really vivid and I can recall 1 - 4 dreams each morning and I still haven't done a single check inside a dream. The closest I got was dreaming about having a lucid dream, bet you can imagine how disappointed I was after waking up and realizing this lol

    So, I tried the *WILD* technique from your other video, "How to Have a Lucid Dream Tonight." I got scenes playing out that I could see, and I was able to feel around, and almost get myself into those scenes, but every single time I came close to actually dreaming, I got too excited, then became aware of my reality again, thus completely pulling me out of the *almost dream*, and forcing me to start over again. It got so annoying. I didn't end up completely falling back to sleep, I just got so annoyed after about 45 minutes, that I gave up, and now I'm here, writing this comment. What can I change for next time to prevent this from happening

      If you wake up when you're lucid, then that's a good sign. What you need to improve is that you need to reduce your excitement. This is what most beginners face. So don't worry if this happens to you. Once you become lucid, take some breathing exercises before doing thing in your lucid dream. Heck even Tipharot had a similar experience when he was a beginner.

    I know when I dream, I'm always in third person view. This is why I can't become Lucid and lack of dream recall (I remember nothing most of the time when I wake up). Once I go into First person view, I'll know it is a dream from the one time I experienced with Pikachu in my bedroom accidently then I accidently went back to sleep, LOL. So, I know it is possible for me to Lucid dream. But how and steps is the question. How can I fix this issue?
    *I know what doesn't help is that I don't like sleep* which makes it even harder to dream itself. I can remember my dream when I do but never in first person view. Maybe I'm lacking REM. Or is there another issue besides my dislike of sleep. I am on the autism spectrum with OCD. I also know my eating habits isn't that great 🤔. But I do have an interest in Lucid dreaming even with the dislike of sleep. 😎🤣🤦‍♂

      You can actually try out LucidEsc (vividream.com/#Tipharot). It's not necessarily going to make you lucid every time, but it increases the time you spend in REM so it significantly increases your chances of getting lucid. I personally on average get lucid ~2 times each time I take it (once the night I take it, and once the next night), but even people who don't get as good results as mine from it tend to get lucid at least a few times before they go through the bottle.

    i have a question if you wake up in rem and you stay awake for 10 minutes does the time of the rem still count forward example i wake up in a rem state and i remind the dream i myself find it hard to get back asleep and it can take 30 minutes if you wake up in the beginning of the rem state and fall asleep 30 minutes later did the rem state stay active and count when you were awake and for how long does a rem state stay active

    • @Tipharot
      @Tipharot  7 років тому

      No it doesn't count forward unless you're asleep. However if you're up for too long then it'll reset. i.e. if you're up for say 6 hours, then the chances are when you start your sleep it'll start the cycles all over again vs if you are up for 10-30 minutes then you'll be right back into REM where you left off.

      I do, check out the lucid dreaming playlist on my channel. I have guides for almost every method. The only one I don't have an individual guide for is WILD because I feel like it's very hard to describe accurately in a way that the other person will understand - for me most of the WILD guides out there were very unhelpful, and I only learned to do it by accident by myself. So I don't want to make one until I'm certain I'll be able to describe it in a more helpful way than the usual guides.
      That said, I do still explain the gist of WILD as step 3 of my "How to Lucid Dream Tonight" video: ua-cam.com/video/_cBOejGs30A/v-deo.html

      Prior to night meditation my lucid dreams varied in length. Many were a mere 15-30 seconds and fizzled out. Many were 2-5 minutes. Some were 10-15. Some 20+ minutes.
      After meditation I barely had any under 5 minutes. A lot of them were 15-20+ minutes long. Sometimes several in a night that were all 20+ minutes.

    Well, Day 21 with dream journal and nothing. Haven’t gotten a lucid dream. I do reality checks every hour. Tried WILD method. Still nothing. Lucid Dreaming is just isn’t meant for my body.

    yesterday i went to sleep at 12pm and i woke up with no alarm at 4 am and the reason why is that i watched a video before i went to bed where the guy said that the best time to do the wake up back to bed was at 4 am so my mind woke me up at 4 am xd but i felt that i was not ready to do the wild technique so i woke up toke some water and went to bed the sad thing was that i woke up 3 times and i had 1 nomal dream ;(((

    I was able to really easily get wild on my first try but now I’m catching myself out when trying it because I can’t quite replicate the feeling
