new song out now: “mirror”
ua-cam.com/video/l0Jo-9aqhYc/v-deo.html
wow, porter, you actually came back to this video!
Legend ❤️
Mirror might have to be one of my favorite songs you’ve done. I never thought I’d like an album more than Worlds, but we’re only four singles in and you’re improving dramatically (if even possible). Keep up the great work man!
Wow, I was going through my playlist and found this. Didnt expect you to comment on this one!
lol
Respect this. It's old and disowned. But if this is what Porter is capable of, and worlds is what he's doing. This guy is- going to be legendary.
Can you count?
You were very right my friend.

"look at the sky". no, really. now look at this. legends can take many forms
10 years ago, he was making this, "banger", "dumb" music, that is somehow some of the best of this genre (I'm only hearing these now). This and Easy and Language. He was making very very electronic "hits", dubstep, house, and they still sounded amazing. You can hear his true artistic self coming out even in these, but there's a huge amount of him trying to conform to normal EDM (though, VERY creatively and well.)
6 years ago, he created the greatest album, the masterpiece that is WORLDS. I don't even have words for this album, if you've heard it you know. But it's like he completely stopped caring about music making tropes and just, MADE music. And, what we got is something that is more standout than any other music out there.
4 years ago, he worked on Shelter. It's beautiful. What can I say? Every note is intentional and beautiful.
3 years ago, he decided to create and alias named Virtual Self, where he could just experiment and run with the lack of inspiration he was experiencing. (again, just hearing this now, but wow.) He mixed early 2000's EDM music that was just becoming existent, and made it his own. It sounds so old school, while being nicely familiar. what we got was, well, unique. It's nothing like Worlds, but it's so creative and very free, as his only constraints were "be weird". If you wanna go DEEP into Porter's music or Electronic Music in general, go listen. Such a beautiful genre we have.
Finally, the sequel to Worlds, his second album ever, NURTURE, came to be, and was released earlier this year (for you people in the future, 2021).
He flipped edm on it's head.
The album is beautiful, emotional, and really just let's Porter release his soul in audio form. It's creative and 10/10 production, while...hardly being what normal people would consider electronic. There are no dubstep wobbles, no 808's, no house drops, just pure, unhindered, creative, beautiful MUSIC. And it's so connected to the story it's telling. An artist who finally sees the world for it's beauty. Where Worlds escapes, Nurture embraces reality. And it's beautiful.
Every song this man makes is art.
This EP shows so much artist potential, that we soon get to see. If you don't settle for just doing what's easy or popular, you might create "something good, oh, something good". (btw, this EP is insanely cool)
WORLDS shows us where music (not just electronic music) can go. It's the closest to heaven music has ever taken me in of itself, and wow, everything about it is the best, EVER. I can't really praise it in just one paragraph, but it's just showing how you can use a genre as a filter for whatever you are to create.
Virtual self shows how to be experimental. Not a lot to talk about, but it's very interesting and I like it. Go listen.
Nurture shows healing. It lets go of its genre and just soars on its composition. It's transforming.
It started with dubstep.
it ended, with the masterpiece that is Nurture. The healing music that we love.
Thanks Porter.
Underrated comment 💯
my dude just directed me to virtual self. That's very nice

Very educational for the uninitiated.
Porter is still Porter !! Here after new album nurture is announced !!!
Yea same
Here after nurture released. Listening to "old Porter" for the first time. Crazy how his style changed and he produced fire every time.
I swear to God, this tune has one of the most amazing melodies I've ever heard.
One of the best dubstep tracks ever...just have to say this.A total masterpiece.
I remember this song from my childhood where I was en route to an Asian Dub Foundation concert really late at night (11PM) in some deep outskirts of France and this song would play in the car of my mom's friend.
from this to nurture, and now smile. i love this guy
Dubstep will always be in my heart
Man, I cant NOT jam to this absolute banger!
10 years and still just as awesome!
'language' Porter's last track i was really in to. It was like has transitioning in to the whole worlds era.
+Houston George agreed'
I agree with your feelings..
Go listen to Shepherdess, song's a monster, seems like a combination between Worlds era and Spitfire era, ik u won't regret it
@@GodSmacK5181 Yeah dude, I actually saw it first time on the Huntronix remakes of all the live visuals + the live version of songs.. And I was like, wth I just saw, it's freaking awesome.. So many of us fell in love with this sound and then to see it being bashed in the commentary on the Worlds album saddened me. We love this sound. This sound made you who you are. We want more of this!!
This always gives me goosebumps, without fail. Such a great track, and despite being the main track of an EP, it's one of his least viewed.
Even this is great to hear... I love his music and style.
This phase in music was really just a natural evolution of really nice, affordable headphones with great bass.
It is actually insane than from this good dubstep we got "Worlds" which is a totally different style, and not stoping there along with Shelter he did go to another way of expressing music with "Nurture". Porter's insane, one of the best Musician ever
I remember seeing porter live over a year ago. The whole time I noticed he was progressing backwards through his discography and said to my friends that I hoped he played spitfire, cuz that's how I discovered porter.
Then he played it and asked how many people in the crowd have been listening since spitfire. There were lots of cheers, but I highly doubt that many people in Minneapolis have actually been listening that long.
Also made me realize that I've been listening to porter since the beginning. He's come a long way.
Say My Name is a classic, he should play that one every set
I never realized how long I have been listening to Porter until I checked his remix of Speak of no Americano--the first song I ever heard of his--is 13 years old now. That means, now that I am 24, I have been listening to his music since I was 11. It is insane that he still makes music till this day.
Really gets to me how so much trash gets on the radio. Then there is all the freaking amazing edm producers that dont get that sort of exposure. Its a shame with the amount of trash on radio and the amount of good tracks that lots of people have not even heard. This song and all of porters songs give me amazing vibes. You're truly amazing.
Porter actually has a pretty good deal of publicity, he's on the top 100 DJ's list, but there certainly are a LOT of EDM producers who deserve way more attention than they get. This guy, for example: soundcloud.com/au5
Totally agree.
I can agree that Porter makes lovely music, but what is really considered "good" is based more on perspective than anything. I myself think that the tracks on the radio are not necessarily as good as any EDM or house track, but most of the population enjoy things like pop music. Hence the name. Essentially the only reason things like hip hop and pop are on the radio (Other than artist endorsement) is that more people enjoy them rather than electronic. Whenever I turn on the radio I can't help but cringe at some of the things that are played, but sometimes I do hear tracks with more electronic influence. There IS hope.
Agreed
I promise you, porter isn't hurting for money nor exposure lol.
Gotta love that atmospheric buildup, still absolute 🔥
still a masterpiece in 2022, porter made a statement with this song holy shit. forgot how epic this was.
this guy is only 19 and already one of the best dj's of the world !!! (DJ Mag)
i love this guy 'cause is style is so original and so beautiful...every time is listen to it i begin thinking about love, the problems, the pain, the hope, and about life,..
I personally prefer the sound that Worlds has to this, But this is good too.
+Legend Of The Throne I hated worlds.
Well good for you.
just started listening to this song again like a week ago. hadn't heard it in years but it's still lit af
This EP became 10 years old 10 days ago, It's amazing how far Porter has gone, although he might not like it, this song, like many of his early works are memorable and show growth.
Spitfire wasn't the first work I remember listening from Porter, I think it was "Easy" but I never knew who made it, I just knew the melody and vocals, but Worlds will always be my favourite from him, literally changed my view on electronic music as a whole
I think Porter didn't do anything to celebrate this album after 10 years but it's still a cool gem.
Also, how fast does time fly, I dunno lol.
Worlds in about 3 more years will also be 10 years old.
That will be even more unbelievable.
Hoping to be here in August 12th, 2024 c:
I really love the plucks though ngl. I instantly fell in love with the plucks
I still love porter.. I remembered when he just started out… first time in south Florida.. shit was so wild… that the next night we ended up driving str8 to Orlando for his next show.. shyt was so wild .. back then..
A lot of ppl here are forgetting how eons ahead of its time this EP was. So many ppl after this used these same samples and packs it's mind blowing. This music should be appreciated for its place in time just as Worlds should. They are both groundbreaking.
Porter Robinson has some of the most epic synth breakdowns of all time, OF ALL TIME.
Saw Porter Robinson live in Seattle last night and was secretly hoping he'd break this one out even though I of course knew he wouldn't. His current music is amazing and special and beautiful, but just imagine seeing this one live

I love the classical influences in the beginning and throughout parts of the track.
I love the trance keys in this, it's like a little massage up and down your back but with sounds!!
I searched "Porter Robinson Dubstep" for a joke.
But when i found this track and search more about this "Spitfire EP", I amazed by Porter's talent over again.
And now, I became to love this track as much as "Worlds".

+Elias CS:GO & More IM NOT SURE, but i think porter robenson doesn't like his old stuff, because it has a lot of dubstep in it. If you look on his youtube, only his new stuff is there which is only like pop edm and no dubstep.
I mean it's back now so that's cool because this is my favourite song of all time.

Have you reached space yet?
WOW! Just wow! From the beginning to the end! My favorite part is the intro (the beginning)! That's awesome!
so... smile :D world tour has a "career spanning" setlist... does that mean what i think it means?
elegant,gorgeous what a beautiful masterpiece
The first 2 minutes is my favourite part. Especially 0:35 to 1:37. Middle part is also alright, but I never really appealed to the step-genre with attention-grabbing harsh noises, so I wish that first part was made into a full track with something else. All the remixes I've found just remove my favourite parts and add more step and randomness.
+Muskar if I were to make a remix I'd base it of the intro
Listen to his Worlds album, it's all melodic and beautiful.
Turtle Cake It's pretty meh
Durrant miller Everyone has their opinion, I really love it :)
I think a few tracks in Worlds are okay.
But my favorite Porter Robinson is still the first section right here in this track :)
love the cover art. If you flip the middle diamond it's a missle I think. very ominous, yet fierce music.

Oh lol
Waoo su musica es muy original😮
Porter I figured out your secret. The intro of this song is based off of Pachelbel's Canon in D I tested this song and Pachelbel's Canon in D and they matched.
Absolutely not. You are 100% incorrect.
Firstly, Pachelbel's canon in D is, as it states, D. Additionally it's in and Ionian mode aka D major, where as this is clearly in aeolian (minor). Porter's song is in F sharp minor.
Secondly, Pachelbel's piece revolves around the "four chords of pop," the progression is I, V, vi, iii, IV, I, IV, V. Porter's song's progression is i, VII, VII, v, VI, IV, C#sus, V. Those chords are completely unrelated, with Pachelbel pertaining to the use of the "perfect" chords defined by baroque rules, versus Porter's use of chord repetition and suspensions.
And before anyone can say that there is no way that an EDM producer used more complicated music theory than a legendary baroque composer, sorry, but it happened. Not often though. Pachelbel uses very primitive music theory and has written a wide number of extremely sloppy fugues. He was the first "one hit wonder," but that one hit could easily have been written by anybody.
wampanon2 Fucking marry me.
Dude just play Canon in D and this song at once and you'll see.
Brenden_Playz I'm playing them both but I'm not hearing it. They are not even remotely similar.
***** They are from differing genres of music but the tempo and beat are essentially the same.
I love his old sounds and his new sounds. But very different contrast lol
producers like PR deserve to be at the spot where Skrillex is, can you image the next level shit he would have dished out. Could have changed the game
Even for a guy whose intention was to never even make EDM, this album is some of the best I've heard.
