So I make it a point to NEVER hire a pawn that I can’t see it’s eyes, nor if the eyes are already colored kinda red or similar color. Yellow, dark, or blue only… and then each pawn I hire, I interact with them so it zooms in on their face a little and watch the eyes. One time I hired 3 DP back to back!!!
And also when the dragon picks them up and looks in their eyes making them go hostile to you… any of those I see happen to, once the fight is over they get the brine. But, when you dismiss a pawn regularly it asks you to give a gift to their master, but if you brine them, you don’t get that prompt, however, if you put some stuff in their inventory and then brine them, those items will go to their master. Vs. regular dismissal, where those items would all bounce back to your storage.
So I usually try to put something nice in their before brining them.

I'll have to test the whole inventory goes to other player of you Brine them.
Best way to tell a pawn is infected is to listen to them, I don't want to miss out on a pawn I like because I cant see their eyes, and its been working for me pretty good.

@@JLG35X pawns are easily replaceable though! The game gives you SO MUCH RC it’s hard to even try to use it all. I’m on 4th playthrough now and like if I’m lv. 60 I rent lv. 65 pawns, when I hit 65 I rent lv. 70. Etc. And those only cost me around 500RC or so, and I’ve still got 12,000 RC left at the moment(lv. 80).
Also if you do advanced search in the rift you can pick exactly what lv. And vocation you want(like choose the parameters of the one you like) and it will bring out like 20 or so of just ones that fit those parameters, and then you just need to find whichever out of those, has the right weapon/skills you’re looking for!
Knock on wood I’ve not yet had dragon plague screw me over, but I certainly don’t wanna deal with it if I don’t have to! Hahaha

@@JLG35X so listening to them is a great way to tell, but they don’t start out with audio. Like once they get infected it takes a little bit to “show”. So like my main pawn will get infected and I’ll see it happen. But he will first get a faint reddish glow to his eyes and it will get stronger over time, THEN he will start saying the rude comments. So it’s possible you could sleep without knowing he’s infected yet. And in the later stages of infection they’ll start grabbing their head like they’ve got a headache and stuff. And yeah as far as the brine goes, I saw a video on here where somebody already did the testing of it, so that’s why I said that.
Also, I’ve had it happen where… I sleep and when I wake it says “your pawn has returned from the rift” and right then I go and talk with the pawn and because he “just came back” he has Dragon’s Plague. So be aware of that, he can contract it in another world and then when you “get him back” he will come back positive. So definitely gotta check them every time it says that.
Now an interesting thing I haven’t yet seen anybody talk about is… it SAYS that they will kill the whole town IF YOU SLEEP AT AN INN, but does that mean only if you sleep at an inn? Or is it okay to sleep at a campsite or a personally owned house and it won’t trigger?
Another thing I’ve not yet seen anybody discuss is like if you lose your “whole town” like vernworth for instance, does that also include NPCs in melve since that’s also considered “in vermund?” Or will it only be the NPCs in the direct vicinity of that town. Like if you infected melve, would that also kill everybody in the soldier’s outpost nearby it too or not? Cause the melve bodies go to the vernworth cemetery (and as far as I’ve seen there are only two cemeteries, one in Vern one in battahl) so I assume all dead people to the east or to the west/south of checkpoint rest town would default to just one of those two locations…
Maybe I’ll intentionally contract to make a video on it cause I’ve got 4 eternal wakestones to use so it’s not a big deal to fix it…

@@bowley4 Ok I didn't read your whole post because it was really long , but glancing at it, here are a couple of answers. Campsites dont trigger it, but you also dont get a hard save. Your house does trigger it. Only the people of the town or outpost u slept at.

Did any of the other pawns gave you attitude at all? It spreads around and can end up activating on a pawn that didn't show symptoms.

  • @JLG35X

In my experience reviving the innkeepers and shop owners is a waste of wakestones, they come back on their own, most of the town will. I think the exception are npc's necessary for side quests. If you need an NPC to complete a quest or to progress the story, the oracle or the fortune teller will tell you.
