Bioware: Representation! Also Bioware: No big butts and boobs and bulges. Sorry people with big butts and boobs and bulges, but we don"t want to represent you, even tho we added sliders for butts, boobs and bulges.
100% .. They intentionally limited them. Meanwhile you can literally make a female with no boobs, top surgery scars, small bulge .. but NO BIG BUTTS YOU SEXIST DOGS! lol
It might be because of technical reasons. The longer hairstyles might have glitched with bigger boobs and butts. I have that issue when I mod in longer hairstyles in games.
@@malinforsman3481 Yes, if the body collision isnt by default tweaked for that, you get clipping with mods. But that doesnt mean the devs cant adjust those collision physics. Because they can. Sorry, but thats just an excuse. Other games also have those options. So in no way am I gonna believe thats the reason...
I definitely have an elven Mage in mind for my first playthrough that’s gonna be part of the Crows. then to make a grey warden to pay homage to my DA. O character
I only briefly played… I think it was Inquisition? But I’m a sucker for games with neat customization, and this definitely fits that description quite aptly!
You definitely did a better job showcasing this than anyone else I’ve seen so far. That said, Im definitely disappointed with how masculine the women’s bodies and even faces seem to be by default. Looks uncanny to be frank. You have to try so hard to make a good looking character
My first character is going to be a female Dwarf with bubblegum pink hair in the two braided pigtails. She is gonna be a member of the Lords of Fortune because she is after treasure due to her mother being forced up to the surface and dying due to the darkspawn and no one willing to help them because they were just some poor peasant dwarfs. She is going to be a duelist so she will have duel swords, because I love that.
My main concern about the creator is whether I can create a cute Qunari like Qwydion from Absolute. It's an unpopular opinion, but I'd like to see more cute female Qunari (like the tieflings from Baldur's Gate), rather than masculine ones.
Both the character creator and actual gameplay looks good. It’s a bit similar to both Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon's Dogma 2, but it does have some unique features on its own in terms of hairstyle, factions, costume design and tattoos. As for the gameplay, the combat is a bit similar to God of War Ragnarok and the exploration is almost like Tales of Arise. And all four of these games I’ve mentioned are some of my favorites in my library of PS5 Games.
Skin tones, tints and text fields (he/him, male/female) are incredibly cheap to implement. Every different body shape increases complexity as all costumes need to be made to work with them. As the fidelity of graphics increase customization systems get more and more expensive to make. Now I'm not saying what they did is good or bad, I'm just trying to say that not everything is about politics or pushing agendas.
@joshs7160 Having more diversity in games does not negatively affect anyone. On the contrary, it is beneficial for minorities who tend to be enormously underrepresented in gaming culture.
I'm surprised to see and hear in this video that their isn't any long hair for the female Qunari? When I’ve seen a bunch of female Qunari with long hair in the pictures and videos out there.
Oh there are, just fewer options for the long layered hairstyles that we see on some of the other races! The standard straight long hair is still available on Qunari don’t worry ❤
Could you please tell, if we can we create an elf with puffy cheeks? I tend to play characters with softer faces and sadly all other people previews show very strong and angular face shapes:((
I really liked the simplicity but still a lot of room for customization in Dragon Age Origins. Every single video game with character creation sliders now it’s so difficult to make a nice looking character. It always turns out looking like a freaky wax sculpture for me 😭😭
I wanted to say your presentation of the subject was excellent. I'm so tired of all the negativity and silly factional politics. I feel like you nailed it with "be kind to each other". Good luck with the channel and I hope you love the game.
thank you for this video! 10/10 it really covered a lot of the things i was interested in! the qunari rook looks really cool, but its a similar issue to dai i feel. dai it was sorta difficult to make a good looking qunari character (masculine at least) and it didnt really look like any other qunari in game, this time around it seems like you can make a good looking Qunari, but it doesnt really look like other qunari. Regardless i am absolutely looking forward to dumping countless hours of my life into this creator. And thank GODS that after 15 years they finally gave long hair options!
yay thank you! is there a hornless option for qunari? and on the main screen there is an "import" function - are we able to build characters and save them for later use?
In the last developer Q&A I listened to, they mentioned you could save the appearance of a Rook as a preset if you wanted to use it for another playthrough. They noticed how Inquisition players would take screenshots for all the sliders of their Inquisitor to be able to make them again. So now they've added an import system.
You can save presets I believe! And for the horns, I did notice one preset where you sort of have nubbins on the head without the end of the horn (option 48!) I think that's as close as you can get to hornless.
You cant really blame game makers for steering clear of issues which divide the fan base. They want people to focus on the game not silly factional politics
@@eastbow6053i think they mean how huge the heads are, someone on reddit made an edit warping the proportions to be smaller and it looked so much better.
Ah, yes. Very normal people love to talk about "proportions." Hey, at least you didn't complain about "feminine curves" or surgical scarring like some of the weirdos spamming on every video about this game.
It's quite painful to see with every video that content creators release that a lot of the marketing campaign could have been better and some criticism could have been avoided. For example I've seen way better combat showcases from youtubers than everything I've seen from bioware till now and you just showed everyone some Qunaries that are quite decent looking. Thanks for the video and I hope you'll have fun playing the game!
As much as the hair looks great, I can't shake the feeling that it feels like a mobile game or a bit too cartoony. The female body build seemed off and disproportionate and the models just don't look right. I guess it's just the style they have gone for though, but I am with the majority on the qunari.. not a fan haha.
There were a few thick curly hairstyles that went down to the mid chest! I'd recommend Kala Elizabeth's videos if you want to see all the options in detail.
I really hope they add a slider before launch for the head size or offer modding tools on day one. I don't mean to insult the devs work or choice of art style but this honestly ruins the visuals of the game for me. Instead of a gritty dark fantasy. It's like a bright, colorful world with big head mode on. Again, not trying to bully the devs. I just really hope we get like day 1 or week 1 mods to alter this choice. I guess my issue is that even if the character creator lets me adjust the head size to the way I like. Then everyone else and all enemies in the game will look even more odd.
Look this question is gonna sound weird but what the hell. How were the bust sizes for female models? I ask because for my second playthrough i wanna make a busty pirate queen from the lords of fortune.
Not possible the characters all share the same base body even the butt slider doesnt increase bum size, as for the bust slider it makes double A cups only.
Love it, busty pirate is giving Isabela vibes too! Got to say I was confused why the slider didn't seem to do much to my character here. Now I'm looking back, I think the slider might be influenced more by where you choose to place the pointer in the body triangle earlier? In general, the bustier characters I've seen that people were able to make were curvier in all the places, with more pronounced bellies and waists too.
@@Dawnwhisper so basically i won't be able to make the character i want without her looking chubby then? Thats kinda dissapointing honestly. With how much the CAC has been hyped i'd thought we could do it no problem.
Looks like a very strange character creator where a lot of options don't really amount to a notable degree of customization especially in the body shape area. The females look so strange ... I can't really describe it. Average? Slightly masculine? Broad? Stumpy? The faces are mostly strange as well.
They're buff and have large shoulders. The shoulder frame might be throwing you off, but considering that rook is by default a very skilled and athletic character, it doesn't surprise me.
the female bodies look male, with no variations in breast, hip, stomach or thigh area, and all of the races look short and compressed like they're on the wrong screen solution
@Iominia Well that's a limiting perspective. Sounds sad. So far as I see it, it's a game. Fictional. There's always illusion. Who cares if there's warrior women are buff or not? And illusion either way

You can make the smallest Qunari possible with the height slider! One thing I wish is that you could see it next to other race heights as you're selecting it for scale. So it's difficult to get an idea of how tall you are compared to the others.
I love how they’re being “all inclusive” but you can’t even make a larger character? Where’s the love for big people? Bodybuilders? Double cheeked up men and women? 😅
Don’t understand why they all look like dwarves. I myself look like an elf, and i think it’s impossible for me to properly represent myself with this cc. Weird. The art style is cartoonish with the big heads, and i’m not a fan.
The heads are actually proportional. Someone did a comparison chart with anatomy and such. Everyone just Is used to hero proportions where the head is smaller.
It's hard to take your comment about not being shy on criticisms when you don't mention at all how strict the glute and breast sliders are, one of the most contentious issue here after all the talk of representation. In fact we're not seeing much criticism from the reviewers at all, which is peculiar.
I was surprised that I couldn't get the chest and glutes bigger with the frame I chose, but I've seen very curvy characters that other creators made. So it's definitely possible to have larger chests and booties, you might just have to lean more towards the curvier side on the body build triangle. BIOWARE! DROP EARLY CC AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!
Placing my candles and praying to the Maker!
The adjusting hairstyles to keep them from clipping is insane.
Man hair physics look so good.
I still want to know did you see choices from Origins and II in the Veilguard Keep.
It's a tricky one as they specifically asked us not to show that section. I will say you input your Inquisitor, as well as your story and romance choices!
I have to say this... This is my first video I am watching from you and I am absolutely falling in love with your voice 😂😂
Thank you for this very thorough video! Very helpful to see some of the finer points, sliders, etc. that get kinda glossed over in other videos. I'm so excited about this game 🥰
@@Bebadocritico Better than your moldy mannequin profile picture
@@Bebadocritico It'll be okay dude. They're just some horizontal colors, they can't hurt you.
Can you please share your presets for the nose? Super struggling with this in game! 😂
Hairstyle 51 is my favorite looking one!!! I can't wait to finally make a character that has just about the same style of hair as me. This game looks great so far. thank you for showing us.
Yesss love the curly layers!
Bioware: Representation!
Also Bioware: No big butts and boobs and bulges. Sorry people with big butts and boobs and bulges, but we don"t want to represent you, even tho we added sliders for butts, boobs and bulges.
no masculine lookin dwarf or anything really minus the jaw of females.
Bioware at its finest
O character
literally every face preset look's like giga chad
...and thus became the very thing they have sought to destroy...
Why is this getting me emotional?? Wtf?? I'm gonna be here for HOURS. Days even.
Can you be a heavy muscled skinhead male ?
I only briefly played… I think it was Inquisition? But I’m a sucker for games with neat customization, and this definitely fits that description quite aptly!
I'm sure it can be tweaked further in the character creator, but the heads all look slightly too large on body presets.
I'll be doing a Self-insert Shadow Dragon evoker mage! First time doing a Self-insert in the series!
I definitely feel the influence of God of War for sure. Which makes sense given the time when this game was in development!
Im so excited to make a Monochrome-Karlach Qunari for my Warrior Rook.
Baffling character creation, there's a hundred diversity options, but making a feminine body type is like pulling teeth.
I think the diversity options are nice, though the body proportions could definitely use some more options.
@@RobertFletcherOBE I think politics are probably very relevant when we look at the lead developer, though...
@joshs7160 Having more diversity in games does not negatively affect anyone. On the contrary, it is beneficial for minorities who tend to be enormously underrepresented in gaming culture.
@@albedougnut It does affect people, in the form of shitty games.
Don't you mean Body Type B, bigot
I heard that the preorders are waay down on this game. I wonder why? 🤔
2 hours? Try 20.
Could you please tell, if we can we create an elf with puffy cheeks? I tend to play characters with softer faces and sadly all other people previews show very strong and angular face shapes:((
I've just been watching you Baldur's gate 3 playthrough and I cant wait to watch your Dragon age the veilguard playthrough 😊❤
Thanks so much!
@@Dawnwhisper have you decided on what your going to play as yet in veilguard I'm thinking about going shadow dragon human mage 😂
I really liked the simplicity but still a lot of room for customization in Dragon Age Origins. Every single video game with character creation sliders now it’s so difficult to make a nice looking character. It always turns out looking like a freaky wax sculpture for me 😭😭
So very excited for this. Dragon Age has needed this since like the first game. 💓
It's been a long time coming!
I wanted to say your presentation of the subject was excellent. I'm so tired of all the negativity and silly factional politics. I feel like you nailed it with "be kind to each other".
Good luck with the channel and I hope you love the game.
Do they have an option with qunaris without horns?
Can you create a womam with male traits: YES.
Can you create a woman with feminine traits: NO.
thank you for this video!
Can you have a widows peak in the game? Also, can you have an hourglass shape?
If your definition of "hourglass shape" is what a trans woman looks like on HRT, then yes!
Great video, it's wonderful to know that no mods are needed anymore to look nice and have longer hair!
Thanks for watching! Ikr, the days of shiny Lego hair are gone (no offense, Inquisitor, we love you really)
Wouldn't it be funny if community make mods for "classic blocky haircuts"?
...But now you need mods if you want your character to have curves.
Why are the necks short and the heads big?
that was a problem in Mass Effect Andromeda too. Not sure if it is a design decision but it makes all people look like having not adolescent bodies.
yay thank you! is there a hornless option for qunari? and on the main screen there is an "import" function - are we able to build characters and save them for later use?
i really, really, REALLY hope this mean they will release the character creator BEFORE the game, like capcom did with Dragon Dogma 2
In the last developer Q&A I listened to, they mentioned you could save the appearance of a Rook as a preset if you wanted to use it for another playthrough. They noticed how Inquisition players would take screenshots for all the sliders of their Inquisitor to be able to make them again. So now they've added an import system.
@@wardenshepard6229 woot!
You can save presets I believe!
And for the horns, I did notice one preset where you sort of have nubbins on the head without the end of the horn (option 48!) I think that's as close as you can get to hornless.
@@Dawnwhisper bummer. i had a qunari concept left over from DAI that i wanted try. but yay saved presets!
Oof, These presets look like inquisition all over again, gotta spend 2 hours minimum to create something decent xD
You got my attention; I am definitely looking forward to playing around with this! :D
I think the bravest thing I've seen so far was an actual gender select instead of 'Body type A / Body type B'
when you say brave do you mean mentally ill?
You cant really blame game makers for steering clear of issues which divide the fan base. They want people to focus on the game not silly factional politics
@@RobertFletcherOBE Well I mean they've already failed in that regard.
the proportions in this game is fucked
the faces also look like 40 year olds, i dont think you can make a young looking character
all by design by self insert bioware devs
@@eastbow6053i think they mean how huge the heads are, someone on reddit made an edit warping the proportions to be smaller and it looked so much better.
@@wasabilover1293 i have no hope for this game and i am tired of paying a game with my hard earned money and downloading s..t tones of mods to fix it
Ah, yes. Very normal people love to talk about "proportions." Hey, at least you didn't complain about "feminine curves" or surgical scarring like some of the weirdos spamming on every video about this game.
@@SunniestAutumn those are both valid criticism. Why can't women with big curves be represented in this game but trans can? How is that fair?
Finally long fuckn viking hair like mine in real life
It's quite painful to see with every video that content creators release that a lot of the marketing campaign could have been better and some criticism could have been avoided. For example I've seen way better combat showcases from youtubers than everything I've seen from bioware till now and you just showed everyone some Qunaries that are quite decent looking.
Thanks for the video and I hope you'll have fun playing the game!
Yeah I most people agree that the first trailers they released gave a different vibe for the game completely. Thanks for watching!
As much as the hair looks great, I can't shake the feeling that it feels like a mobile game or a bit too cartoony. The female body build seemed off and disproportionate and the models just don't look right. I guess it's just the style they have gone for though, but I am with the majority on the qunari.. not a fan haha.
They should’ve allowed the female dwarves to have beards based on some lore.
Female dwarves can have beards! It's just the same selection of beards as the males, that's why I didn't show it.
Was there curly long/medium hair?
There were a few thick curly hairstyles that went down to the mid chest! I'd recommend Kala Elizabeth's videos if you want to see all the options in detail.
@@Dawnwhisper they all look great. I got a few ideas since I am basing my character as myself.
nice video! good job really!
Hair ✅✅✅
Qunari foreheads/horns ❌❌❌
I really hope they add a slider before launch for the head size or offer modding tools on day one.
I don't mean to insult the devs work or choice of art style but this honestly ruins the visuals of the game for me. Instead of a gritty dark fantasy. It's like a bright, colorful world with big head mode on. Again, not trying to bully the devs. I just really hope we get like day 1 or week 1 mods to alter this choice.
I guess my issue is that even if the character creator lets me adjust the head size to the way I like. Then everyone else and all enemies in the game will look even more odd.
I headcanon that my Rook is an escaped slave that joined the rebellion against slavery and corruption in Tevinter.
Daring today aren't we?
@@Keram-io8hvexactly my thought 😂
Look this question is gonna sound weird but what the hell. How were the bust sizes for female models? I ask because for my second playthrough i wanna make a busty pirate queen from the lords of fortune.
Not possible the characters all share the same base body even the butt slider doesnt increase bum size, as for the bust slider it makes double A cups only.
Wrong game unfortunately.
I'm definitely playing an Antivan Crow
Looks like a very strange character creator where a lot of options don't really amount to a notable degree of customization especially in the body shape area.
The females look so strange ... I can't really describe it. Average? Slightly masculine? Broad? Stumpy?
The faces are mostly strange as well.
They're buff and have large shoulders. The shoulder frame might be throwing you off, but considering that rook is by default a very skilled and athletic character, it doesn't surprise me.
Look at 4:30, you can create characters who are not buff and are more lean.
@@theelderworm9134 so we aren't allowed to choose then? cool.
I love the illusion of choice.
the female bodies look male, with no variations in breast, hip, stomach or thigh area, and all of the races look short and compressed like they're on the wrong screen solution
@Iominia Well that's a limiting perspective. Sounds sad. So far as I see it, it's a game. Fictional. There's always illusion. Who cares if there's warrior women are buff or not? And illusion either way
Oooh I hope I can make a delicate pretty princess character😊 I am only seeing burly bulky chicks tbh😅
you’ll probably have to sit in the creator for a while to do that 😂
im a small girl myself with not a lot of muscles so im a little disappointed.
At least the hair styles are much better. Hope my gaming laptop can play this 🙏
Since it's verified on the Steam Deck, fingers crossed it'd play on something like a game laptop. Fingers crossed for you!
@@Dawnwhisper just looked at requirements for it and it’s looking promising. I’m thinking if my laptop can play cyberpunk I’m in with a chance 😅

@@evarjantz222 sorry, you're right. at least the people on twt who complain about the inclusivity of the game actually earn money by grifting. the people who comment in yt videos are worse bc there's not even a monetary benefit from their whining 😔
@@praiselinnyThe difference between the griftees and the grifters. They talk the same nonsense, but only one of them is benefitting from it.

Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy character creation when you get your hands on it.
Crazy how there's basically 0 feminine curves. Seems kinda exclusive.
Jfc dude, "feminine curves"? We can all tell the website your concept of womanhood comes from. Be less obvious.
@@SunniestAutumn Your concept of womanhood comes with an asterisk attached. Be less obvious.
@RealTylerDurden not really. Billions of women have curves.
@@c.karnstein3299 I know, I was responding to a user who was giving the OP crap for wanting to create a curvy woman

You clearly don't know Brazilian women and other Latinas.
They are not being represented in this game, because they HAVE curves.
Also Africans have lots of curves as well.
More purple please. Not enough to get blind yet
i hope we get the creator before the game
Can you make a small male quanari with the hight slider I’ve always wanted a elf size one
You can make the smallest Qunari possible with the height slider! One thing I wish is that you could see it next to other race heights as you're selecting it for scale. So it's difficult to get an idea of how tall you are compared to the others.
@@Dawnwhisper thank you I can’t wait to see
Qunari hair style just need to go further down the forehead, the ones that does make them look way better.
its like everyone had 150cm
But is there Narly scars?! 🥺
There's a lot of choices and stuff like burns as well. You can also customize the colour of the scars and how clearly they show up on your skin.
Awesome. The body art options are also astounding. I just hope there are many opportunities to see it.
I love how they’re being “all inclusive” but you can’t even make a larger character? Where’s the love for big people? Bodybuilders? Double cheeked up men and women? 😅
You already know why you can't make a female character that is actually feminine, but having a massive character would be an issue with the models.
It's a pity that there are no piercings. There are no earrings on my ears
Can you not change the size of your eyes?
There is a scale slider for eyes too
@@Dawnwhisper Oh, that’s good to hear, thanks!
Jade Valkyrie's beautiful curvy Rook that I've been seeing screenshots of on Twitter came to mind, see her video here: ua-cam.com/video/yi4-62qgxd0/v-deo.html
@@Dawnwhisper Fair enough
i have enjoyed everything ive seen about da:v BUT the qunaris😭😭 i rlly hope they do something about it bc i play on console so no mods
I think they're listening, and this first reaction to character creator gives them an idea of how people feel. What we played might not necessarily be the final look.
