So he basically said, replace all "ifs" with "when".
Such a simple but powerful message.

I'm sure he's touched a whole lot of individuals while being incarcerated but would most definitely be way more valuable in the community as a free man. I pray that the next time he's up for parole they see the good this brotha could do outside those walls and they grant this man his freedom. In Jesus name, Amen.

Dean Layman....If you were trying to be facetious then just know this guy here is a good one. What he said was true. Prior to Dwight being murdered, Maurice (as I know him) was on his way to greatness. Yes, you can use the typical all Blacks are good at sports but Maurice was an exceptional student. Better student then ball player. Had that incident not happened (and it was gruesome to say the least) with Dwight brain matter splattered all over the ground, Maurice could've easily been a Scientist, Physicist or Engineer. He taught me math so I know first hand how talented this man is. People don't know what affects murder/death has on the psyche. It affects everyone differently. Our friend Patrick lost his mother at an early age. She died of an aneurism when we were about 9 or 10. Now mind you Maurice is a quite a few years older then us. However, Patrick lost it after his mom passed. He too grew into what you call a criminal. Yet, Patrick was another smart dude. It happens. I've had friends whose families were devout Christians. In church every Sunday. They too got pulled into this lifestyle. This doesn't mean people like these are good people at heart but circumstances beyond their control changed their trajectory. As far as Maurice is concerned. He tried keeping dudes away from the lifestyle he was living. I know. I'm one of those kids who he saw something in. Who he thought had potential to be great like himself. To some extent he was successful. Had he not showed me math, I can honestly say, I would be one of those statistics and not a businessman. So, yes! criminals are great!

Great to see how ' Toast masters international ' has helped so many guys/gals incarcerated. Both cmc & SQ offer a lot of self help programs...probably has a lot to do with the demographics of where the correctional facilities are located. I must say...the CDC offers "positive programming " for inmates.
