It’s even worse than most people think it will be. The only person I have seen be sufficiently alarmist on the Chevron thing is Sam Seder and Majority Report. This decision will directly impact hundreds of millions of people, even worse than the overturning of Roe did, in terms of overall damage. It’s bad, man.

I have an anecdote about how governments (and specifically liberals) value the lives of the poor.
Here in Australia, we instituted a policy called Robodebt which was supported by both of the major parties at the time. The policy used an algorithm to determine when welfare recipients were overpaid, and owed debt to the government.
After the institution of robodebt, thousands of people were falsely flagged as having been overpaid by thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. This lead to over 2000 people sewersliding based on debt they didn't actually owe, but the government was threatening to ruin their lives if they didn't pay up. Many weren't in good financial positions to begin with.
The policy was gotten rid of, and a commission was put together to find out how this happened and to stop it from happening again. Well, that's what was said anyway, in reality it was toothless. They found no wrongdoing and that nobody could be prosecuted, not even the politicians who knew people were dying because of false debt and continued the policy.
Politicians in both major parties have started to float the idea of bringing robodebt back. Some are calling it a "common sense" policy. The answer is... they don't care if you're destitute, or homeless, or if you die. They hate you and want to wring you out for as much labour and money as you're worth, and the moment you're no longer able to provide value, from their perspective you might as well die. They'll call it a tragedy after the fact, but they don't care and will continue to socially murder people like you because they think you're dirt.
EDIT: I'd also like to add that the narrative has also shifted to denying that robodebt caused those deaths, but the logic they're using is that there is no DEFINITIVE proof that the people who were fasely told "you owe $X0,000" sewerslided because of the financial pressure, it could have been anything! If you think about it, they could have just been subject to mass hysteria or something! Again, they hate us, all of us.

Basically they hope to pass the buck onto the next town/city.
What happens is a place will crack down harder and harder until homeless people somehow get a ride somewhere else, and then the cycle starts all over.

If y'all need some hope-ium, I've been talking with dozens of people across the spectrum irl in my daily life about the debate, and all of them are literally clowning on both of them for their performance. Nobody actually takes anything in these debates seriously, they just view it as entertainment and very few minds are actually being changed. But that's the people who watched the debate; most people I know saw and heard nothing of it. It's still June, y'all. This is far from Joever.
