I wanted the Sky-One Touch OR the Body Color 3-Piece hard top. What are you debating between?
Best review I've seen on the soft top. Straightforward points, and some really great shots and angles. How is it with rain? Does it absorb water and dry slowly (e.g. poor drainage and sitting water)? Have you heard of or considered using water protective applicants to use on the fabric?
@@christopherhamilton697 Appreciate it! So, the day I drove off of the lot there was an absolute Florida downpour. It held up great. No leaks so far and I don't think there will be any. The canvas does not soak up the water either, it has been very repellant. That being said, I haven't looked into water protective applicants. I have even used goo-gone on it to remove sap that dripped on it and it is holding up great.
I like this option the most. But where I’m at we have snowy, cold winters. I’m concerned with the heavy snow or ice sitting on top of it. Would you say go with hard top in this scenario?

@@igortimofeyev9885 Good Q, I had the same concern. If you have a garage I wouldn’t worry about it but if you don’t have access to a garage I would get a same body color hard top. I was also worried about snow stacking up and ruining it.
Just bought a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S last week with a Sky One Touch top and it's been great so far.
Love my one touch. I'm a first time jeep owner and it was a must have!

When I first heard of this, I wouldn't even consider it...then saw one in action on the dealer lot. Now it's a MUST HAVE! Too bad that my [hardtop] JL is only 3 years old (and only half paid for..)

You can take everything off, it's kinda a pain, but it's able to be done, even the back. You also should treat your soft top with a water resistant spray on a fairly regular basis. It's no different than other jeeps, just easier to open it up quickly. The only con I have found is what could happen to the roof as time goes by. Failing mechanicals, tracks that possibly crack, other every day use issues, we just don't know because it's so new...

I considered the Sky One Touch, but decided to go with the 3 piece color matched hardtop and a Bestop Sunrider. I get the benefit of a full hard top or a easy to open soft top over the front row for less money.

1- Can the sky one touch stop at front passenger or does it need to go all the way back? 2- How is the sound when your driving with the top closed? 3- Does the insurance company charger you more for having a soft convertible top?
1. Yes it can. You can stop it at ANY point
2. It's loud but not much louder than the normal hard top...
3. My insurance did not
I love the look of white Wranglers with black tops (including the pillars and roof frames). If I buy the Sky-One touch, do the pillars and roof frame have to be color-matched to the body?
I think the pillars and roof frames will be body color. I don't think there is an option to get that part blacked out from the dealer

I’d love the sky top too but I only like the classic 2 doors Jeep Wrangler...Well...3 pieces hardtop is a good option so I went to buy the Bestop Sunrider! Fresh air in 1 min...see...Wranglers are so versátil in many ways!
Question. I live in Canada and it gets ridiculously cold. How much more dp you have to crank the heater up in the winter because of the soft top.
I have the cold weather package so between a heated seat and heated steering wheel I haven’t noticed that I need to run the heat excessively.
It may not retain heat perfectly but it is not significant enough to matter. I live in NYC and it is also very cold here. 🥶
@@product_parade_ thanks for the reply man. Currently speaking with a dealership looking into trading my car in for a 2021 unlimited sahara. Didnt notice till just a few mins ago it had the 1 touch top. So i googled to see what the pros and cons were. Your vid was really helpful.
@@antonioenrico check out Hot Head headliners too. They offer an insulating headliner that is compatible with the One Touch
$4k isn't cheap no matter the ease or feature.... That said, we bought it and I have to say it is pretty damn sweet, still not worth $4k, but pretty sweet.
I see I lot of questions about how it holds up with cold weather, snow, etc. which I understand. I, for one, live in the desert with summers that reach temps of 110's. Does anyone have experience with this top in high heat?
I live in Texas and it has been 110 for weeks now....stays cold inside, not as cold as my ford, but that's a jeep issue, not a top issue. It's nice to open it up, then quickly close it when the sun becomes too unbearable
Looked at a '21 Rubicon that had the power top. The drawback I see is the rear glass can never come off so that open feel is negated. Yes the rear side panels come off but that true necked jeep, I call baha mode can't happen. Any way around that ?
It can happen, when I made this video I thought that it couldn’t. It is just more work to take off and out back on.
Can you put any kind of roof rack on this top? Probably only looking to put a couple of bikes up there???
No you can not
There are racks that you can put on top. I haven’t looked into that as much yet.

Lots of pros especially the ability to take out back side panels. Biggest con is that rear widow can not be removed. If only Jeep could have a rear window that could retract into tailgate like Toyota Sequoyah does. Other than the rear window it’s a no brainer.
Ya, the roll down window on Toyotas is awesome. Some people just leave the window open but I don’t like the look of that.

For your roof rack system, you need # RL210S2 Rhino-Rack Legs and # RRVA150B-2 (or # RRVA150S-2 for silver bars) 59" Aero Crossbars. I also like this Rhino-Rack roof rack since it's a bit more popular among Jeep owners with the Sky One Touch Top.
Gobi Racks makes a compatible rack for the one touch
Expensive to repair or replace when dirt and debris collect on the tracks (rails) that the roof slide back and forth on. Also it’s quite expensive for a minor convenience.
I love my sky one-touch but another con is it’s not operable if you’re going faster than 50 mph.

Not that I know of. I don’t think it is much worse than a 3 piece hard top. Definitely not the quietest vehicles overall
Can you get this on the base wrangler the sport
For what I know this top is only for unlimited Rubicon, Moab & Sahara trims...What I did with my Sport S 2 doors is storage the 2 front panels with the Best top Sunrider...I recommended to you in case you got the Sport one!

I have the new sky roof and when I go through the automatic car wash when I get to the blower/dryer at the end, feels like the roof is going to come off. Thoughts?
It is loud but I am not sure I remember mine feeling like it was going to blow off. I will have to watch it closer.

So you're telling the price difference between a 3-piece hardtop and the Sky One-Touch Wrangler at the dealer (in your area) is actually $8995,00. Talk about pushing the boundaries 😂. Doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Separating the men from the boys. The Sky one-Touch to my opinion is for fancy pants city slickers. Not to mention the horrible drag effect while driving open on higher speeds, because you can't remove the rear window. This whole set-up looks ridiculous anyway with no doors/rear quarter windows. To my taste nothing looks better than a hardtop Jeep with the roof removed adding a set of half doors. And yeah, I am fortunate to live in a place with 300+ sunny days. Non-negotiable.
Will water get through it when it rains?
Not a chance -- I have been in some crazy downpours and it holds up perfectly so far
Speaking from experience, I hope the Sky Touch long range ends up holding together better than the Sky Slider.
Roof noise can be ignored after playing good music 🎶 🎵 😂😂
And when your jeep parked in the sun 🌞 and you come back to your jeep simply open the sky roof and get cooler very fast- moving the heat quickly out opening the sky Roof. 😎 😂😂

CORRECTION: You *can* take the top off completely. It's just a bit more work than most people would take on.

Yes, that is true and putting it back on is supposed to be pretty tough as well
how about the sky top material fading, hard to comment I know as know one has owned for long enough, but I can guarantee this top will look faded in time
Coming up on a year of owning the jeep and no fade yet. But obviously too short term.
I went into this knowing that I may have to replace the top in 5-10 years based on fade so that it continues to look good.But that is something I am willing to invest in if quality and look doesn't hold up.
Check out the Jeep Liberty's with the Sky One Touch Roof from 2007ish. No fading there...
No fading. These are pretty durable and many products on the market to restore its original color if it does fade.
Great video, BUT if you don't think the Bronco will be competition - think again. Amazing new vehicle and they'll force jeep to up their game even more than this sky-one touch :) (And I'm a Jeep Fan)

Expensive sunroof. This is good for people who never go topless or doorless. I doubt that it will be the future of Jeeping.
Given the Scratches across the top of my hardtop I’m quite sure that this would be shredded on my first off-road adventure through the forest. Off-road I drive primarily on forest service roads and dedicated jeep / off-road vehicle trails... not maintained dirt roads
Non-issue.
I have driven a 98 TJ soft top since new and have NEVER scratched or torn a hole in the top from branches and branches and sticks scrape it ALL the time.
Now I have a JL and do the same, still NON ISSUE. In fact, the new top material is thicker and more robust that what the TJ came with.
Any soft top isn't permitted for the car wash when thinking about washing the car. Plus, you can't install any roof racks to pack items on the roof for any camping outings.
Goto a different car wash. When i'm lazy I wash mine with at the car wash no issues whatsoever.

The research I've done tells me hard core off road jeep wrangler enthusiasts want a soft top and look at hard tops as junk. This top may cater to the shrinking urbanite population but not the off roadies. as the urbanite population shrinks, the offroad, rock crawling, american icon that is jeep (wrangler) will not be able to accomodate both groups the one touch is a very cool "urban" option, but not something the serious off roader or weekend warriors will flock to. I think they will continue to want the ultimate in customizability of their rigs. Cage racks, doors-off, light bars, rooftop tents, awnings, tool carriers, extra fuel tanks, and traction boards, bulky gaudy stuff that just doesn't have that urbanite look.

Well, thieves got smarter these days...They break your windows, get in & grab whatever is in display!
That could happen with any soft top convertible car. I would be more worried about a thief popping open your hood and stealing stufff out of there.
I thought about thia scenario and then realized that it might be less conspicious to break a window, open the car doors and then steall stuff compared to climbing on the roof of a Jeep, cutting a hole on the top, then dropping down into the Jeep like you were entering a tank, then going out the doors with your stolen goods.
