Thanks for sharing the video of Gwynne Shotwell. She is a big part of SpaceX success but does not appear very often.
I would go further. Without her very early presence SpaceX would not exist. She sold SpaceX to NASA and other agencies BEFORE the first successful Falcon 1 flight. Her extraordinary leadership of the company has allowed Elon to focus on what he likes and does best: Engineer!
Starlink lasers will be the equivalent of Tesla NACS in space. Every satellite in ship will be able to use fast internet.

The plugin will be revolutionary for satellites. Eventually, there will be no need for a ground TTC system, further reducing costs and complexity of satellite operations. Satellite manufacturing will skyrocket

For interplanetary flight and control in thin atmospheres like Mars, an air independent attitude control system is required, preferably without jet thrusters. These are Control moment gyros, like used on Skylab and the ISS. They require very low power to operate. It is only a matter of time before the fins used on Starship will be replaced, because the reentry attitude can be controlled and maintained with precission, and are not heavier than those fins and they might make thrust vectoring unnecessary .

Gwen's comment about "probably not" for attempting a satellite deployment on the next flight isn't surprising to me.
They will want to figure out why the "pez dispenser" door didn't work properly.
Was it a mechanical shortcoming? Affected by g-forces from that high rate of spin? A combination of the two? Just the wrong way to go about it?

Shotwell addled absolutely no new info in that clip at the end. She just repeated the Starlink mantra we already know.
SpaceX has done a lot in very little time compared to its competitors but they have a very High Margin on their to do list still to go and get all those Checks off that list.

orbital re-entry is tough with the heat shields working properly but catching the booster and the starship is going to be a bitch, I am amazed they are putting tower 2 that close to tower 1. A RUD while they are trying to catch could cost both towers and the tank farm. Would it not be easier just to have landing legs. If they can catch the booster and starship out of mid air though, the wow factor is like 1,000 x. You will inspire a whole new generation to go into space. I say Carpe diem....
They are aiming for rapid reuse. The rocket is not actually being captured, but it's landing on the arms.

I will for sure watch when they start launching Starship from FL.
Weather permitting we can see all KSC launches from home and it's only a 90 minute drive to my favorite spot for taking long time exposures (so hoping they will do night launches as well)
but I'll also go closer than that 43-ish miles to hear/FEEL the RUMBLE 😜
Early Ship 29 engine testing suggests that it only needs software modifications to fix the attitude control issues that Ship 28 had during re-entry.

Queen Shotwell, happy talk! IFT three did not achieve any of its goals fully. I would call that a failure not a success. Why is Gwen engaging in happy talk like this? Starship is not gonna get better if SpaceX hides behind happy talk. The worst thing about IFT three was the happy talk of the announcers, who cheered every failing aspect of the launch. What happened to the real engineers who oversaw falcon nine launches? Have they all been fired because Elon‘s ego was hurt?

I'm curious, has anyone looked at the fuel burn on Starship and accounted for expected payload? It looks like they were very low on propellent when they reentered the atmosphere without even achieving orbit and I don't think they had a mass simulator on board?

My guess or bet is that after a few soft touchdowns in the ocean, catching booster and starship will be abandoned in favour of landing legs. Too many variables and too much risk to stage zero to even attempt it. 😮

I like the failsafe planning where an elliptical orbit was chosen such that whether or not the engines restarted, the spacecraft would still de-orbit and splash down safely into the Indian Ocean.
SpaceX is catering for all possibilities even as it progresses the rocket design with its successive test flights. 😊❤

I have noticed a little more attention being given to propulsion systems other than liquid. Perhaps NASA now has reason to think interplanetary due to commercial interest and success at SpaceX. History will focus on the ultimate success, so influencers such as yourself need to keep the details recorded of how it was achieved.
To go interplanetary, there are only two propulsion options available. Electrik- or ion- thrusters are fast, but still too weak. They need far too long to accellerate. This may be feasable for missions to Pluto, only that we are far from even wanting to go there. They are perfect for robot missions.
The 2nd option is *not* with chemical propulsion. The achievable speeds are to low to get us beyond the moon. Nuclear thrusters are under active developement by a joint NASA/DARPA cooperation. This utilizes a more effective propellant usage, providing thrust for the entire mission duration. This equals on board gravity, plus short transfer time. It is with current tech our only option for manned interplanetary travel. First orbital tests are scheduled for 2027. England has its own solution, which should premier in the same year.
I definitely hope that SpaceX are allowed production of these nuke motors, and that they are installed into Starship, interplanetary version. It is the only vessel that can be seen as a space ship. All other manufacturers will continue to stuff astronauts into tincans!
