While looking for Tighnari in Pardis Dhyai, you come across Nahida once again and update each other's situation. In the gardens, the group finds Haypasia who this time around, claims to have reached divine wisdom. She offered you divination of the Irminsul, which you accepted. What you saw was shockingly The Balladeer's Memories (part of Scaramouche's consciousness) embedded somewhere in the Akasha Terminal. In there, he talked about becoming a god himself by absorbing a Gnosis. This cutscene is part of the full Sumeru Archon Quest Chapter 3: Act 3 titled "Dreams, Emptiness, Deception" under the subquest "The Gaze From a Certain God".

His backstory reminds a lot of Albedo.
Both are artificial humans.
Both were left behind by their creators, and mothers.
Both posses a hidden power.
And yet, Scaramouche is doing the same thing Ei did after losing her friends and family --- throwing all emotions aside, isolating himself and willing to do anything achieve his goal.

The most heartbreaking part about this for me is seeing how he used to be so _happy_ . How, at one point, he smiled with genuine joy, not malice and cunning. I wish we get to see that smile again someday.
Happy good people can become monsters, particularly if they are as emotionally vunerable as this guy is. As much as I feel sorry for him, it is kind of hard to overlook all the shit he has done and all the people he has treated like dirt. The guy has been a grade A asshole for a long time now. That doesn't feel like the type of thing that just gets washed away with a 'sorry guys, I was just really emotionally upset and sad'. Many horrible people both in fiction and reality have terrible and tragic histories.
@@brynphillips9957 I completely agree; that’s why I’m so enthralled by how Mihoyo would build his “redemption arc”, or if there’ll be one at all. Hopefully, they’ll be able to create something that truly serves the purpose in a way that won’t feel out of character for anyone involved(especially Scara).
That will make scaramuche lost his evil personality and the reason why we want him, I hope he still being pure evil and malicious

This just feels absolutely heartbreaking. Scara just gave up entirely because of how many times people have betrayed him.

It all dottore plan, you think scaramouche would made a giant mech, also dottore hinted that he will make his move after conquering the divine gaze I wouldn't say he betrayed them more likely he's still being used.

Ei simply wanted him to find his own path but it seems Scaramouche did not see that and saw it as abandonment. Sadly he went through many loses such as a betrayal and a loss of friend through death.
His backstory have several elements of Fu Hua and Sakura (Previous and Current era) in Honkai. Even his appearance resembles Raiden Mei Dazai Spectramancer battlesuit, which fits the lore.
We have to save both Nahida and Scaramouche in 3.2, but we gotta wait til its out.
scara has the rights to see it as abandonment though. Ei's first intent was to seal him in a domain and make him sleep for eternity which she did that but only let him go once she realizes he was woken up by someone. It is still abandonment even if ei had good intentions, he was a child with no knowledge whatsoever wandering around

Scaramouche is not void of all human emotions, in fact, he's full of it - hatred/anger/fury.

Uh just to clarify to someone who may not know what actually happened, when Ei created scara, she found that the puppet has childlike emotions and was very innocent. She needed a puppet who could take harsh decisions, so she didn't want to taint Scaramouche's innocence. So she decided to not use him, and instead let him live as he wished. But yes, just abandoning a gentle person like that, was definitely not a good idea. Ei has made a lot of mistakes. But that comes entirely from her history as a warrior. Ei is practically nothing but a warrior. She doesn't have what it takes to govern or do anything non combat related. She spent all her life being the shadow to her sister, move as she was instructed...and when it all fell upon her to make those decisions, coupled with the grief of losing so many of her friends and her sister, she just couldn't handle the responsibility and literally doomed inazuma. And now that Scara is a villain and has power of electro gnosis(the purpose of his existence), Ei ended up raising one more enemy for humanity, and not an easy one at that.

The way his voice almost cracked while calling Ei his mother made me burst into tears help
In the beginning, *I thought Scaramouche was just like Carnage from Marvel;* he was just evil simply because for him it was fun causing others to suffer and to watch the world around him burn.
Now, knowing what life was like for him after he was created and knowing he was *"abandoned"* (it was actually Ei simply wanting him to find his own path in the world) and losing 2 human friends, his nature is actually justifiable.
Also, the way he said *"Mother"* is just heartbreaking. Scaramouche's ENG VA can nail both the role of sinister maniacal villain and tragic lonely individual.
I wouldn't call it justifiable. Understandable perhaps but having a bad past doesnt make acting like a monster justifiable, particularly when most of the people you hurt are completely innocent of the harm done to you. Many horrible and monsterous people have tragic histories.
Plus, personally, hating on the sick kid for dying on him and calling it a betrayal was kind of messed up to my mind. I mean it is hardly like the kid did it on purpose.
Genshin fans see someone commiting genocide on innocent people and tryna become a divinity and be like "thats valid af"

I think this is because Katsuragi was apart of the Niwa clan. Kazuha’s great grandfather was also a part of Niwa, so essentially, they might be related.

kids take the last name from paternal line, so if niwa was female, in normal circumtance his kids would't take his name....
so by context there's layered reason why he's obviously a guy... idk how u conclude he's a woman tho

GODDAMN IT! As someone who LOVED the lore of the Husk of Opulent Dreams, and a lore freak, this fed me sooooo much! Scara's motivations are real af!
I know Ei didn't mean anything bad, but she really needs to be scolded for this.
She thought that just leaving him alone meant giving him free will to choose whatever path he wanted, but she never thought to consider if that was what he wanted or how he would see it.

Dude Patrick did an amazing job at voice acting, the way he says some words so softly and sorrowful is crazy and toward the end his voice becomes more assertive.. he's amazing
I hated scara as a person (he’s a good character, but not a good person) but this definitely helps me understand his motivations on a whole new lvl. Also the voice acting is amazing as usual for scara’s eng dub.

I'm so surprised that everywhere I've looked has next to nobody discussing this aspect of the Cutscene. Regarding Scaramouche's redesign, the leaker ZiaoBi previously said "He covers the left side of his chest with his Anemo Vision. I assume from a design standpoint this is to symbolize the heart which he so desperately craves."
Now take a look at 00:41-00:54 in the Cutscene 😊
Wait was that his own heart?! And if so does that mean after he gets his anemo vision he will get it back? Or wait...was THAT the vision?
I rather think he has no vision at that moment. He most likely gets it after getting defeated by the traveler and getting confronted with Ei's misunderstanding. From there on hes gonna wander around the world to seek answers without or less violence.
I'll be honest. I busted out crying when he said "my mother". I was just sitting and eating peacefully when he said it and i couldnt even keep eating. This was more emotional that i expected. Hearing him so broken in the voice. Damn.

If you read the Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact set, Katsuragikiri Nagamasa weapon, Tatarasuna Aged-Notes & Ei’s voiceline abt Scara prior to this quest, you’ll see that the betrayals are all just a misunderstanding from his perspective.
Well, Ei did thought that Scara’s emotions was more “fragile” than a human.

That’s the Plume Luxury feather that Shogun gave him as a gift b4 he was set to slumber in Shakkei Pavilion. As a sign that she pitied him & wanted him to be free.

Don't know how much it would help. Honestly, I am not sure Ei can really be what Scara wants and frankly, he doesn't seem suitable for handling the burdens divinity brings. For all his loss, the crap the Archons have generally had to go through shits all over it.

Ei has dialog about him in her Profile now, but it is mainly about how she feels a owes him freedom because his existance was part of what lead to the creation of the Raiden Shogun and so she doesn't control him. That implies that she could if she wished to.

He's been through so much. I actually feel sorry for him. But it's a shame all those things drived him to go to the dark. I do hope someday, since he's going to be playable, he might change his views? Lol. But anyway, I can't wait to see him in action.

He will almost certainly be playable. That said, he isn't a kid and has done a lot of bad things to people who didn't deserve it. Hell, he apparently even treated his own people really badly. As sad has his history is, at this point he would need something of a redemption arc. He has a lot of blood and suffering on his hands at this point and no matter how said his past is, that really isn't something that should be just dismissed.

he’s a puppet created by Ei as a prototype, she didn’t have any duty or reason to let him live even tho he’s basically that first burnt pancake yet she spared him and gave him a chance at life while she was also at her lowest herself, she didn’t betray him when she doesn’t even care or really mind him at all and when they weren’t even close in the first place
then about the lil guy, he died of his illness, that’s not betraying someone at all, he didn’t wanna go either most likely, that’s not how nature in itself works💀

@@ma.angelikatongio7060 she created a sentient *puppet* with the sole role of baring the gnosis and taking responsability of her country, she did not have any duty towards her toy, she was even supposed to discard it (kill him) and move on with her process but she was kind enought to give him a chance at life. most others would’ve simply gotten rid of him

Well, considering what Ei had gone through, seeing Scara as her son was probably the last thing she had in mind. At that time, letting him go was, for her, the best course of action.
If Present Ei saw Scara now, she'd probably react differently to Past Ei. Considering that Ei and Scara haven't personally met again, hope we see some more development between these two.
