This movie is so underrated. Sure the camera work is wack, but the action, the cars, and the set are so badass. They didn't even force a half assed love plot with Case in, which I appreciate. One of my favorite Statham movies
I love the first 3 movies but i don't like the movie that they made in the future where there's no guns and everyone are just idiots
@@scatchnanathx3761 the one where people stand in the road to get killed by their favorite driver right? if so that movie is dumb af.

*Hey guys I made an interesting vlog in Russian school if you Don't mind appreciate plz)*
This is like an alternate reality *Fast and the Furious*. Even has some of the same actors and cars. Mix in a little Vin Diesel and a dash of The Rock and you got a movie franchise that can go on for upwards of 10 movies!!
But there’s a plot hole nearly all prisons in the us are run privately and are just for profit
Yes. This was my first thought.i commented it already; fast & furious, mad max abd triple xXx - Mix! Bombastic!
@@gamingsu-sauer3530 it is not a plothole. It is a logic-hole. But as it is a MOVIE and being in an alternate universe or in the future...it doesn't matter. Like with ALL MOVIES!
You missed the most important part: Family!!
Please don’t give them any ideas
The ending is so nice, and I always love it when the bad guy or antagonist is actually a good guy instead of an a**hole.
well the black driver wasn’t the antagonist, i guess the driver who killed protagonists wife and this hennessy woman are the antagonist and they seem to be really big assholes to me
You, my friend, might enjoy Hardboiled.
I was like “Those cars look familiar.” But then I realized that the GTA Arena War Vehicles are based off the cars from Death Race movies!
Is it odd that the title reminded me of the gulag
You mean mad max?
@@Crzitxal Well yes, but the first car that dropped the back shield was what made me first think it, then seeing the Cerberus (Gta Name) I was like “This is where they got inspiration!”
Rocket League, also? I believe there is a car model in there, too, that resembles these cars strikingly.
@Magic Five frankly speaking, I don't fucking care
My favorite part is the enormous leap of logic Hennessy had, like "Ah yes, let's hide a bomb in a car that is nearly religiously scrutinized around the clock by some of the best mechanics around. Fuck it, let's strap it to the bottom. They'd never look there!"
Plot convenient. Yes but it is also realistic. She told the guard to put the bomb in the car, she never said where or how so the guard being an amateur on motor vehicle just straps it to the bottom. Leaving the fact that it could get knocked off during the race and left in the middle of the road when they wanted to blow it.
She left the job to an amateur and got the result for it
yeah good point not to mention the bomb is huge and has flashing lights all on it.
Glad she and ulrich are dead the the end
Most people would immediatly think to put it under the car, that's not a leap in logic, It's just a huge calculated risk.
@@ItsSupercat94 so you're telling me that you would also put it under the car and not in the trunk or some shit?
The most unrealistic part of this to me is that he got his daughter out of the foster home
nah the most unrealistic is the bomb. Like did the warden seriously think Jensen's crew wouldn't check the car before the race and not find the bomb?
@@hugar3499 I guess the idea was that because they had spent all day preparing the car the day before, they probably wouldn't give it a full body inspection the day of the race because it would be too much. However, his crew knew they wouldn't let Frank win, so they had to double check the car.
@Magic Five shut up bot
Pretty sure if he’s able to survive and escape a deadly prison, he is well capable of snatching his daughter from a foster home
@@pjsun2000 Agreed, he probably did just that. After all, there's likely no legal way for him to regain his daughter, not in a world that corrupt.
2:00 don't you just hate it when you time travel so far forward you go from a terminator to a prison guard

Death Race is considered a modern classic if you ask me. Jason Statham and Tyrese Gibson did absolute justice for this movie, and frankly im happy I could see them both in a different franchise of movies about cars. I think tv shows like Squid Game took a lot of inspiration from this one. What people will go through to earn their true freedom knowing they got nothing to loose except their lives. The cars themselves in the movie were also really bad-ass, they got Mad-Max written all over it. I love it.

What movie is this
well this movie was partially right in that unemployment would hit an all-time high and prisons would be run by private companies for profit but it wasnt 2012, it was 2020
Good, private companies always run shit better than the government. Example: UPS vs USPS
@@alexkyte4093 yes but you also have to take into account that private prisons can bribe authority so that their prisons become more crowded which results in more money. Just look at america. They have one of the worst incarceration rates in the world despite being considered as one of the most developed nations of the first world.

“Black Machine Gun Kelly doesn’t exist he can’t hurt you”
Joe:
I think Death race 3 is the backstory of the former Frankenstein. You can see why he rather just die when you know the twist.
2 is the backstory, I think.
2 and 3 are both prequels
Death Race 2 is actually how Frankenstein was created
There was a very old movie with the same name that featured the same actor as the one in this one who was the first frankenstein. That was the prequel.
Yup it makes sense watching 3 2 1 in that order but only difference is 3rd is technologically superior than previous so that's a paradox
This movie literally popped into my head a few minutes before I jumped online.
Nice.
I remember seeing this in the theater as it was right after I had turned 17 and could finally watch R rated movies. It was so damn good I had a piece of flair with a pic of Death Race on it on my FB page.
I really like how they both finally joined forces and outsmarted LITERALLY everyone and escaped
Honestly this is one movie that is worth watching in the entirety. Cars, action, acting all of it is pretty dang good and like others have said, it’s almost like a more violent Fast and Furious lol Really good overall though
This shit is close to a twisted metal replica
Hell of a freaking movie, we need more movies like this, reminds me of twisted metal combined with Fast and furious
I've always enjoyed this movie. The prequel sort of stunk. The original _Death Race_ (1975) was the one that kinda sucked probably because it sounded better on paper ~ kit car racers run over various people in a cross-country(?) drive across the country. It didn't make any sense because each person had a different route and the scoring system seemed to be at total random and based on some honor system. Here, we had a fucking Dreadnought! That scene has always been my favorite. It'd kick ass through rush hour traffic irl...
Death Race always felt like a unofficial Fast and the Furious spin off
This is honestly one of my favorite movies ever, underrated gem
i remember watching action movies on tv as a kid and teenager and since then realized... any movies starred by sir jason statham are ALWAYS fun. he even appeared in my dreams and made them more thrilling. 😂😂

The only possible correction I would have is I think the gas tank he dropped during the escape scene was actually the normal gas tank given it's size. The reserve tank would have been there to let them continue the escape plan.

I'm confused. This movie implies that prisons are only sold out to private corporations after an economic crisis.
They filmmakers do realize that this is already the case, right? Many prisons or prison services are for-profit private contractors.
its set in 2012 when that probably started happening
@@Rufproductionz oh no, the US has been doing that for decades.

Are u just joking or is prisons in America really run by for profit corporation I mean if it's the latter wouldn't more people be imprisoned and prisons always wanting more and more inmates?
It's scary hope no innocent people are pushed into it like the movie showed
@@rahule.s7456 I wish I were. Around 8% of the US american prison population is incarcerated in private prisons, and yes, while the research isn't entirely conclusive, it has been found that states with private prisons tend to have a larger incarceration rate.
The companies doing this are also looking to expand in all other aspects of prison management like mental health care etc. which is currently still mostly being done by non-profits. The Obama administration tried to stop new contracts going out to private prisons but the DOJ under Trump reversed the decision.
Biden has issued an executive order not to renew existing contracts though. But an executive order can always be overturned in the next presidency again.

I know it's a movie but how does an escaped convict get his daughter back? Is it because he had release papers already?

This was a rollercoaster! Fun as heck!
One of my favorite set of movies
The framing scene in the beginning was a turn off for me. There’s a saying in forensics for every crime scene. The criminal always take something with them and leaves something behind. Very broad, and I will say they did a good job with the criminal wearing gloves so he wouldn’t leave any fingerprints. However, there’s no remnants of the spray on the guy’s face? Really? Guy passed out next to his dead wife with the murder weapon. I mean can it be any more obvious that he was framed, the evidence that he was sprayed would have been his golden ticket out. But no, let’s just have the audience forget that little detail so the story can go forward. I doubt many people has taken forensics class but this was just a turn off. Either, the producers are oblivious to how forensics really works, or it was terrible writing to further the story.
I thought the whole vibe was that they live in a not-so-distant dystopia where the cops simply wouldn't care enough to investigate something like that.
@@at0mic_cyb0rg But wouldn’t they want to investigate? If the prison system is near the breaking points and they have that death race to reduce the amount. New inmates will fill in gaps and they’re back where they started. So they’re just making it worse if they won’t even try to investigate to see if a man is innocent. That would help with reducing the amount of new inmates if the cops investigate crime scenes and find the accused innocent for the crime. But in this, you just get thrown into jail. It looks like you don’t even get a trial to defend yourself of the crime either. I just don’t like that aspect and it ruins the immersion.
Maybe they’ll believe that Jensen had a low blood sugar
So basically twisted metal the movie?
O remember this movie, I haven't watched it in years. Keep up with the movie recaps.
