- In this episode of Noisey’s global rap series, ‘Gangsta Rap International’, Chuckie travels to Athens to meet 21-year-old Rack, the rapper, tattoo artist, fighter, and son of notorious Greek gangster rapper Lektikos.
As Rack is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the Greek Hip Hop scene, Chuckie explores Athens with him and the rest of his ‘Barcode Crew’ to see if the apple has fallen far from the tree, and how he’s coping after losing his father and the figurehead of the scene in 2011.

I live in Greece, and I am telling you, I do not feel the fear I had when I visited my homeland. Im sorry but these kids, come from a good home and are too privileged to be the so called gangster. People who have a hard past, dont go around boasting how gangster they are. Greece has a low crime rate, so there really isnt any reason for this to happen. Guys i'm greek and things are not as they appear .... his father died years ago sadly at the age of 41 years he was a real gangster rapper but Rack is not ... he became famous because of his father and grew up on money and he lives in one of the richest neighborhoods in greece ...he has taken the power of his father who was a great MMA fighter but he does not have the same experiences as him!!!

As A Greek who lives in London the last 6 years, I can assure you that the real gangsters do not act like that. If Greeks like him came here and acted like that in specific areas, they would get robbed/shanked straight away. This is not a game people are dying because of this. So far I've read over 10 comments saying: "As a greek this is far from gangsta...". I agree that true organized crime stays silent ,but keep in mind that athens is a town big enough to have big crime rates but ,also small enough to enable criminals to know each other. Greek society doesn't have the deep scars of the US or UK like widespread fatherless youth and total collapse of reason. In Greece society mostly suffers from poverty and a slow decline of education and motivation for growth. Also from national minorities like Albanians who have been marginalized by greek society in the past and they feel & act as outkasts in society.
Most Greeks are proud and very emotional people who like to blame others for our ill fate rather than look to ourselves for self-improvement. ...But still we have very close and protective families and we re not a fucked up place where violence is the rule of law in 99% of the areas in Greece.
I'm now 40; when i was 13 yrs old the 25 year old hooligans used to fight every day and stab each other every chance they got. In the end all these guys ended up working on low paying service jobs, if at all. I see the same now with these guys. They have nothing better to do; no guidance, bad influences and just waste their time doing stupid things in front of a camera.
Usually, 1 out of 20 of these guys - the smartest one - will capitalize on his exposure and jump into some kind of legal entrepreneurial activities. The rest will be left wondering why they spent all their time and youth doing nothing...
