I bought a 2017 with 26k miles. I absolutely love it. Especially coming off a gmc, and dodge trucks, it's pulling power is amazing. We have a 5600 pound rv. And it's pulls it like nothing is there. Love your review.
Of course it does, it's 5000 pounds, like a Colorado can tow that with ease.
Came here to hear the exhaust, all I hear is your mouth. 🙉

STFU and stop with the camera movement! About to puke!
Titan 5.0 is such an underrated truck
not sure how it is underrated It does not have a block heater and will not start in the cold.. If I pay 50k plus I expect it to start in the cold.. Then has major issues in the bottom end which leads to total overhaul.. I get why Nissan dropped it too costly for repairs.
@@doserdiesel It does have a block heater but they left off the plug. You can pick them up cheap.
@@doserdiesel mine has a block heater and it starts in cold no problem. 32 degrees no block heater plugged in cause haven’t needed it yet
Yes I agree fully
@@doserdiesel that’s odd, my platinum reserve came with a block heater and plug.
Sorry to see them go. I’ve been driving one for the past 2 1/2 years and I love mine. By the way, those mirrors extend for towing.
Dodge guys everywhere: ArE yOu ChALleNgInG mE ?
Have u had any a/c problems with ur vehicle?
@@MarcosRodriguez-cg6st I'm assuming Nissan uses the same a/c in all their vehicles and if that's the case 2016 maxima a/c still works like day one.

In 10-15 years people will start claiming these motors as rare and start swapping them into rat rods and what not. Just like the 4bt Cummins
But 4bt goes buh buh bugh buh
Ya don't think so bud lol
4bt doesn’t have a glass block
If you want to see what these can really do. Come hit us up as we push the 5.0 Cummins Into 1xxxhp range!
Bullshit! Post a video of this with the Titan on the dyno. Lol
Okie Rider take a look at their page you know it all. They have a compound turbo Titan that probally is pushing close to the hp number
Okie Rider he would be pretty close. I did see numbers in the 800hp on his single turbo kit... so compounds would of been 1000hp I’m sure of just about. Regardless ... the trucks are pretty good but nothing compared to the big three
McArthur Motors ya Mabey not quite 1000 but that truck is definitely making some power and it’s a cool custom build probally one of the first to do it, I like all things diesel haha
Okie Rider we have and done it live many times lmao
Can you imagine a 5.0 Cummins in a mustang? Leave the 5.0 badges and stick a Cummins badge on as well, would be hilarious!
I only watched this video cuz I’m planning on putting it in my 2000 V6 mustang 😂
@@marcuspurciller It’s capable of 600hp with a single turbo and tune. Stock errrthing. Engine is 💪🏼. The wiring harness causes the crank and injector issues. It’s only on some trucks.

COME ON GUYS ITS MADE IN TENNESSEE!
Actually made in Canton Mississippi
@@zhongxina5595 like GM Daewoo(Kr) Buick craps???
@@ElCachorro97 gm gets most of their parts from Mexico and Canada so no not like Nissan who actually manufacture their parts in Tennessee and Mississippi
Sooooo .... it’s got no teeth and a meth habit?
These are way better than most people say, I have a 18 pro4x XD and I ain't getting rid of it tell it wont move. Also these trucks are all over the place in west texas both gas and diesel versions.
they're everywhere in south alabama and north Florida too
I picked up a 2018 XD Diesel in 2021 with 18K miles. I have owned multiple GMC/ CHEVY trucks. This is by far my favorite truck. Great power to pull 30' camper and or just cruz.
So has the crank broke yet?
You should make everyone look at the Cummins TITANS different with this being the next give away truck
Jack they dont have veins it's a compound turbo setup, and there being discontinued because they break cranks, Cummins dropped the ball on this truck not nissan
-8 year Nissan Certified Master Technician and ofcourse 5liter Cummins certified
Do the second gen gas motors still crack manifolds like the first gen?
Matthew Cordell Cummins is really good at inline stuff, V style not so much😂
Had to lemon one for transmission troubles
That is sad that Cummins messed up the motor. I know this engine was supposed to be on the dodges before the VP guy who was working on it at ram left for Nissan
Constable I believe Nissan fixed tweaked the design because it cost them a ton of money when the 1st gens had the problem but I do not know for sure.
honestly an underated truck. Great for people who don't need a three quarter ton, but want a diesel. Its a great truck.
I've owned a 16' Platinum Reserve 4x4 Cummins for a while now. It's 6800lb curb weight and feels heavy like a 3/4 ton which translates nicely for towing. I did my research before buying and knew it'd feel a bit under-powered stock and have some deadpedal, but $750 for a tune and CAI and you have a very nicely balanced truck making 400hp and 650lbs -ish torque and it's more than adequate for most for RV or medium farm duty. You can pick one up loaded in the high $30K to low $40K range with decent mileage. Throw some Bilstein 5100's on it for handling and it's as good as anything you'll need for the money. Trailer brakes and gooseneck capability are standard too
I am planning on picking up a 16 Platinum reserve this weekend. 50k miles. Why did you get rid of yours?
I installed an S&B Cool Air Intake and a #PedalCommander, completely changed the truck. I love mine.
Jack! You need to do a nissan XD for a build. Would be super interesting to see what modifications can be done. Plus would make a killer giveaway vehicle
Nice Slash 4x4. I have the same body for mine.
I hope he does that with a 2019 XD since 2019 is the last year
@@lostbetrayed Would be such a unique truck
@@MTK143x yup! If he does a build I hope he gets the 4x4 regular cab base model not just cause it would be cheap but that way he can do a lot of stuff to it and make an epic giveaway before that I hope he buys the red one first and give it away how it is now
I have 17 XD 5.0 and love It.
Man mine keeps giving me a insufficient coolant flow code. And keeps flashing low power mode and read on my dash🤦🏼♂️ any help would be nice
@@BhobsonKatie if you have EGR still on it could be leaking which causes that code. or it could be the over flow tank sensor it self.
brandon hobson have it pressure tested 18psi for a least 15 min. Also take the charge pipe boot off at the intake manifold and look for white crystals or a sooty paste. There will be soot,, but it shouldn't be wet or pasty. If so then your egr is leaking coolant into the intake. If not, then your coolant level sensor is going. Most coolant flow codes also have a coolant low code. The sensor is located under the coolant tank. To replace the sensor you have to replace the coolant tank cause you can't get just the sensor. It is easy to replace, 3 hoses, 3 10mm, 2 on the rear, one under the relay box and then the electrical connector for the level sensor. You will need a least 1 gallon of blue coolant when done. Good luck.
That Nissan 5.0 tuned Cumins Is cool looking and it sounds pretty good
Jack I'm gonna have to steal your phrase and call my 2016 Titan XD Cummins 5.0 V8 "Rowdy little girl" from now on lol
I must say that thing does sing a sweet sweet song that sounds real nice on my ears!
Jeez that little Cummins sounds good, you did a great job of giving the back story on the Titan.
I don’t think Nissan gave them enough time to catch on or marketed it well enough because I didn’t know Nissan offered a Cummins diesel powered truck until mid 2021 and I usually stay fairly up to date on newer vehicles
Then you don’t stay up to date. We knew a solid 3 years before the thing dropped in 2015 that they were going to build it. How you slept under a rock for 8 years, “keeping up to date” on vehicles, is inexplicable.
Yes, Nissan dropped the ball on advertising. They tried doing something that NO ONE has ever asked for, the whole 5/8ths market. It’s either half ton, or 3/4-1 ton. Nothing has ever existed between half and 3/4 for a reason. It was moronic.
On top of that, Nissan and Cummins marketed a woefully underpowered engine for a modern Common Rail turbo diesel; around town wasn’t too bad, was fairly torquey. But anything over about 35-40mph it was anemic at best. On paper was good, 310hp/555ft-lbs which was similar to my 2003 Ram Cummins HO (305/555). The then-13-year old Ram would still wax the new Nissan, completely stock. Not even close.
An embarrassing specimen from both Nissan and Cummins. And yet, I’ve always wanted one to tune🤷🏻♂️
@@moparproud3978 the 5.0 cummins was built for the dodge 1500 not for the nissan. i have used my stock 2017 to pulled tractor several hundred miles like it wasn't even back there. tractor weighed 4 ton.
@@jamesgriffiths7579 I’m well aware of the development of the 5.0. 2009 Ram 1500’s, many came with the radiator sticker for a 5.0 V8. That’s when it was to initially drop and Titan would debut around 2010 with it and the new Ram 1500-based platform. Never happened.
Nissan announced a full three years they planned to produce.
The foreign manufacturer but more american made than ram gm or ford lol also per the gross vehicle weight its a bottom tier 3/4 ton
5/8 ton
@@joshuastephens6385 He meant the weight should make it a 3/4 ton.
In what world is this Nissan more American made lmao?
Andrew Morgan it’s designed and made In the USA and has more American made parts then Chevy or dodge
Andrew Morgan I’m not sure about ford
I just bought one and I am really impressed with it. Never owned a Nissan before so I will see where this goes
Do you still have your t? How is it treating you? I’m thinking about buying one
That thing is rad! Actually really like the Titan XD really sad to see the diesel go. Definitely will pick one up when they depreciate a little bit more.
Built in The USA canton Mississippi to be exact. The Frontier is built there as well and the XD Will stay the diesel option will no longer be available.
If you wanna get real the Titan is a very American Truck, Cummins Diesel, built in Canton Mississippi
Facts
The Titans are also built in Texas and the Titan has always been designed, engineered and built in America by Nissan USA so that's what makes it more American but Nissan is still a Japanese brand and that pisses off a lot of truck guys but maybe they are just stuck up cucks or nationalists or both and they just let that shit get to them
Sounds really good and really not bad looking at all.. I’ve always been interested in them!
i know a guy who has a duromax and owns a titan 5.0 ,,,,he like the titan more than the duromax gmc...he told me if he had to tus between the 2 two he would take the titan ......over the gmc duromax .......think about this a real owner of both..........titan 5.0 is his pick or the duromax gmc........
I went from a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.9 Cummins and the 47re transmission, and I’ve gotta say, my Titan XD with the 5.0 Cummins feels stronger then the older 5.9.
Well you don't say!
Well it has 5 more hp and the same torque as the 03 dodge.
completely agree i also replaced my 03 Ram 2500 with the titan and very glad i did. the price of the Titan compared to any of the big 3 was a no brainer.
Hell yeah bro hunting is a incurable addiction that will bring a smile to your face
The Titan isn't a Japanese truck it's made in Mississippi.
It’s a Japanese manufacturer. Don’t matter where it was built. It’s still a damn Nissan.
Happy with my 2016 XD Cummins. No mods. I will be planning to play with it. Would like a few mods. Like the sound of their exhaust note.
So what is the mods list?
Parts list ?
Feel weird to say but that thing sounds wicked! Definitely Japanese on the inside though.
The ISV5.0 sounds and drives very much like the Nissan VH45DE. The basic head layout and intake track of the ISV also share vary similar design language with the VH45. I would bet Nissan did provide some technical assistance to the design of this engine. If you remember the early renders of it around 2007, it used a more conventional pushrod layout. The fact that it's over square also makes it rev. It's such a wonderful engine. The transmission itself is great, but the programming for the transmission is just terrible.
Sound like a Duramax and a little bit of a Cummins by sounds wicked awesome
They say there very unreliable but you can get them dirt cheap. $67K sticker. Coworker picked it up for $42l with 100k full warranty(bumper to bumper)
A tuned Nissan XD, that’s one cool truck!
This is the best truck and cool truck I ever seen
It’s better than other trucks👍🏻
The Titan is more American than the F150 and the Silverado. Designed in Cali, Manufactured in Michigan if I'm correct and Assembled in Mississippi.. So they conveyance that it's an "import" is incorrect. They're fast, powerful and the tech is top of the line.
Nice video. Do a 6.0 build. I’ve always liked 6.0’s.
Farmall Lover -said nobody ever
uhhhhh hmm okay
A Cummins Titan would be a pretty cool build on the Chanel 👂👌
This is so true the titan XD is so underrated
Very underrated indeed a lot of people still don't know that motor exists same with the 3.2 Powerstroke inline 5 in the Ford Transit lol 😑
Underrated, because Nissan essentially built a 3/4 ton truck with 1/2 ton capabilities? LOL
@@putmeincoach7663 lol
Very underrated nissan thought it was smart to over build a truck and give it piss poor numbers. Ive towed 18k with mine zero issues beside constant fill ups
@@Nissantitan1000 are the oil changes almost $200 like the ram 6.7
And best thing about a Cummins is that its easy to work on making it a v8 probably complicates that and the tractor like sound of motor
I own a 2016 Platinum Reserve and I love it.
It’s got a Cummins! Only thing better than Cummins is Caterpillar! (Engine makes the truck)..
The Titan was going to be a rebadged Dodge Ram 1500. Cummins developed the engine for Dodge because they wanted to small diesel for their half ton trucks. The engine wasn't as economical as Dodge wanted, the deal with Dodge and Nissan fell through, and Cummins gave the 5.0 to Nissan to use. Nissan continued to develop the Titan and introduced the Titan XD which made use of this engine.
Honestly it’s crazy how cheap those titans are selling for compared to other brands
Refresh coming in January
Ian Powell not a diesel though. That’s the only reason I even bought one. Now that that option is gone I wouldn’t even care to look at the brand
Whats the price difference?
Rene Hernandez in Texas I can find them fully loaded used low mileage in the 30s. Also they hold their 100,000 mile warranty. Our company has bought 5 of em new. In my opinion they are significantly slower then our ford and Chevy diesels and struggle to pull our trailers up hill at highway speeds. Also have had a bunch of computer issues on all trucks. But their cheap and covered warranty wise so I guess it’s no big deal
As u Said Jack or even more, Diesels are so popular here in europe. you have it in these BIG trucks but we have them in like everything even in small hatchbacks or limousines like Audi A8 bmw 7 or S-class. we have had years that diesel was in like 60% of new sold cars
10:41
I have the 2019 Titan XD just rolled 20,000 miles on it zero problems. Did this truck you tested have any exhaust mods? Will look into the tuning.
I LOVE the sound of a turbo diesel!!!
cant wait for a 6.oh build talk about good sound
I love nissan I think they're just as good if not better than American vehicles I've had all I like nissan
I dont think anyone hates the small diesel category or this motor. I personally hate what this cummins motor is wrapped in (Nissan). I bought a 2018 ecodiesel a few months ago with 3000 miles on it. I love it so far and I'm coming from a 2014 hemi. Call me crazy, I really like it 🤷♂️. Just today I was getting 46mpg cruising at 50mph. I tow maybe twice a year and drive alot of highway miles. Maybe it will get plugged off (egr) and I'll run into a bunch of issues down the line but for now I'm really enjoying it.
Would it be a good idea to get a 16 with 99k miles on it?
If I lived closer I would be buying that truck. Really like it!
I just thought about this image if gm and Cummins made a truck how cool would that be
I’ll take duramax over Cummins all day
Daniel Ambriz yeah so would I buy it would be really cool in they both combined a truck with a Cummins motor and the allison trans with the technology from the new rams and they combine both of the body styles of a ram like a mega cab duramax it would be fire
I want a ford body with a cummins and Allison trans
If you go with any pre-2016 model year Ford F-650, you can have your Ford-Cummins-Allison combo.

Older video but I had a 19 xd diesel and had nothing but issues. Always, always in the shop. Limp mode all the time. Very nice driving truck tho, when it runs
My co worker spent weeks looking for the perfect titan diesel, found one that had the best maintenance records, and it blew the motor 2 weeks into his ownership from a crank bearing
Congratulations on the deer jack!!! Wish you luck for the rest of the season!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I like them. For one fact alone, you will not be a dime a dozen, at every single effing light in America ford/chevy or dodge truck. Nice to see them, there very rare.

well i drive 2016 3500 dually denalli for 2 years and now titan 20019 midnight diesel is in my garage and pull the same way my ex-truck pull all depends what you pull, and NISSAN almost put no money to push TITAN diesel, like i say all depends what you pull , 5 years o 100,000 miles bumper to bumper how can you go wrong ?
Sweet truck, that diesel sounds amazing.

I love my Titan, Nissan dropped the ball on the marketing. There Re still people that don't even know this configuration exists.
Exactly! Wish I had one I want a 2019 regular cab 4x4 XD Cummins really bad I haven't seen anyone on UA-cam or Instagram with one even in the 4x2 configuration heck their really aren't any channels that have a Titan XD Cummins hopefully Jack will end up changing his mind he seemed to really like it if he gets it it probably will be for a giveaway I don't think he likes Nissan that much and he isn't too crazy about Cummins even though he is an enthusiast and loves diesel he really loves Duramax's
I loved my Isuzu 3.0L Diesel in Thailand MU7 7 passenger SUV
Those things never die.
Nissan should have just went the whole way and built a 3/4 ton. 5.0 cummins vs 3.0 ecodiesel were meant for two different things. ecodiesel prolly does 10 more mpg, exactly what a half ton diesel is meant for.
Jack,
Would you be able to list the mods that were done? I have a 2017 Titan XD that is bone stock at the moment and have been looking at mods for them.
Tune and exhaust
Drove one loved it hated the suspension and not enough power.
My biggest gripe is the throttle lag. Nissan has it tuned to where even if you stomp the gas it opens slow to reduce the black smoke going into the dpf. Got a tune on mine and it's an entirely different truck now! Nissan runs it's own tune instead of using Cummins software.
Ight ive made up my mind, I’m putting this in my 2000 mustang
@Durtymax Jack have you ever thought about reviewing a babymax GMC Canyon/ Chevy Colorado?
man who records fueling up a truck doesn’t record first hunting kill, and gets rid of the deer before he records it😂😂😂
Big Red he’d get demonitized if he showed us shooting or post kill content.
kinda wish youd buy it and do a build
Same.....
55k in just diesel isnt bad I dont know why you think it is? The XD is just ONE of their platforms.
Colour looks good on it!
So being as they are discontinued is it hard to get parts when needed now?
Was hard to get parts even before it was discontinued.
By law, parts have to be available for 10 years after production ends. But Cummins has ceased production as has Nissan, so yeah parts will be hard to find
In the state of Pennsylvania, off-road lights are NOT required to have a cover if they’re below the headlights!
Startup at 10:40
Theres alot of nissan trucks where i am i enjoy the titan alot i take one hunting every year for moose there not the best on gas but can hold a pretty good tank of gas but havent seen a diesel yet
Dont forget about two stroke diesels. Achates power opposed piston engine may be the future
