Imagine if they add the ability to overlay your character over your real body. Your friends would see you as your character, but in the real world space.
I was just thinking this. I think it would be awesome if they incorporated something remotely like an overlay for your body. The potential is really intriguing.

Well, so far from what I've seen, the better the lighting the better the passthrough quality. I've yet to see a dimly lit passthrough video without a ton of static. Just like older phone cameras that require a lot of light. That's all I was saying. As are most reviewers for what it's worth.@@iakobkv271

For playing in the same room, meta quest actually has a tech for this called shared spatial anchors. It probably wouldn't work in open environment too well though

Okay now imagine a fully fleshed out AAA Mixed Reality Sword Art Online MMO that's built like pokemon GO in a sense where traveling to different locations in the real world can discover you new items , NPCs , enemies , bosses , skills , ect. I feel like with the way tech is progressing give it like 10 years and something as ambitious as that would probably be pretty common place.
Wow the hand tracking is actually pretty amazing here. The fact you can wield a sword without controllers.. pretty awesome. Can't wait to see more AR and Mixed Reality games like this come out.

It only damages the lenses apparently, and if you’re wearing the headset that can’t happen obviously. If you want to be safe just bring a bag that you can put the quest in as soon as your done so it isn’t exposed to sunlight off your face
So apparently my camera just decided to BE OUT OF FOCUS for the entire gameplay portion, but I couldn't not include it. I wanted to demonstrate how much I was moving through the space and really give an idea of how active I was to accompany the gameplay. So hope you guys understand
It would be cool if they programmed it to take note of the direction of shadows in the room or outside via the cameras and match the monster shadow direction and lenght.

this is legitimately the coolest thing i've ever seen... I hope one day this becomes even more realistic Like, holy crap! Think of what the future could bring! Pokémon GO first comes to mind, and with the AR tech they have tried out I can totally see them going for it when the time is right. Throw on a pair of AR/VR glasses or goggles, and see pokémon on your commute, actually sneak up on them and catch ‘em, or see a raid pokémon tower above like in the first trailer… The possibilities are huge! My brother had the idea of blade and sorcery MR, where you’d set up a large playspace and massive walls would come up around you to form a huge free roam arena. Once we have self tracked full body on headsets like this, we could even kick the enemies to our heart’s content! Add the upcoming combo hand and controller tracking and you could use one hand for sorcery and the other for combat! I think this small combat demo really sold me on the future of MR, cause up til now I thought all of these were silly concepts that may never come to fruition. Now i’m fully convinced we are well on our way. I’m excited more than ever to see where we go from here.

I'm pleasantly surprised how the Quest 3 controllers handled outdoors. If that was Quest 2 controllers, the tracking would have been shot to hell. I used to put shades on the Quest 2 exterior cameras when I played outdoors to take out the glare.

There already is some demo of AR raytracing on the varjo xr 3 for example, so it's definitely doable on pc vr but it needs a nvidia rtx card and is not real time and you need to set a specific environment so you can't use it anywhere and doesn't work a standalone quest

Now imagine this game uses the WiFi 6e to create a local play lobby so that the data is fast and could even display oufits over the top too with a level system and event like pokemon go raids but in parks and not as often of course as smaller solo adventures possible both from home and out and about with the possibility of triggering said raid timer

It won't, unless you take off the headset and allow sunlight to hit the eye lenses to damage the screens. The external cameras will not be hurt by this.
Good thing about vr becoming mainstream is kids will be less overweight and unhealthy in the next years, atleast instead of siting 10 h on pc they will spend 3-4h moving around in the middle, and doing actual challenging things close to training at times
really cool proof of concept. VR is still a piece of hardware that needs to develop however this is pretty impressive given how quickly its developed. Imagine something like this as a multiplayer adventure kind of game. Like Pokemon Go but with a fantasy action approach. Awesome video, can't wait to play something like this in a few years.

It won't, unless you take off the headset and allow sunlight to hit the eye lenses to damage the screens.
The external cameras will not be hurt by this.
It'll be fine just like the other dude said don't take it off in sunlight, if it's on your face the sun can't reach the lenses

Good thing about vr becoming mainstream is kids will be less overweight and unhealthy in the next years, atleast instead of siting 10 h on pc they will spend 3-4h moving around in the middle, and doing actual challenging things close to training at times

All fun and games until you take off the goggles and the moster is still chasing you
really cool proof of concept. VR is still a piece of hardware that needs to develop however this is pretty impressive given how quickly its developed. Imagine something like this as a multiplayer adventure kind of game. Like Pokemon Go but with a fantasy action approach. Awesome video, can't wait to play something like this in a few years.
