Today's Gospel for October 4, 2024, comes from Luke 10:13-16. Jesus reproaches the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, lamenting that they did not repent despite witnessing His miracles. He warns them that they will face a harsher judgment than the cities of Tyre and Sidon because they rejected the message of salvation. This powerful message invites us to reflect on our own openness to God's call. Are we, like these towns, missing opportunities for conversion, or are we actively responding to Christ's invitation in our lives?
As members of BCBP, we are reminded through this Gospel of the importance of not only hearing God's word but acting on it. In our community, we are blessed with opportunities to encounter God through prayer, fellowship, and service. Let us not be complacent or indifferent but take these moments as chances for personal growth and deeper commitment to God's mission. Through our acts of service and love for one another, we reflect God's love in our community.
In the spirit of brotherhood and love, let us renew our commitment to supporting one another, just as Saint Francis of Assisi did, whose feast we celebrate today.
