- Today's cook we compare Snake River Farms Wagyu Gold & Black Ribeyes to our local Heroes Mill Creek Meat Company in Midlothian Texas! In this experiment we ask the question, is a $100 steak really worth it? We are cooking on the Blazing Bull grill at 1,500 degrees!! That's a serious sear...

I love that Bearded Butcher rub to. They looked like they about ready out of the blazing bull. I m for sure going to check those out for searing as well.
Great Video ! Great Steaks ! ❤
Nice Demonstration
You make such good videos! Prefer the long form ones! Any chance you could show us how you make a finishing butter for Tomahawks?? You’ve about got me sold on a Yoder Smoker! Thanks for making these great videos!
Great video! I just grilled the SNR picahna with their version of the Bearded Butcher rub...it was UNREAL!!! If you pay attention to the discounts you can get meat a bit cheaper at SNR and I'm working my way down their list on some of the better value cuts - I did haven't done any $100 steaks...that's a lil too rich for my blood!
Awesome vid! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Ima have to try that Bearded Butcher Black. I been using Meat Church for a while, between that and crating custom espresso coffee rubs, need something new! Cheers from Charleston, SC.
Do it, my first love!
Great video, I give it 🥩🥩🥩🥩's. Now if I can stop drooling long enough to get me one of from SRF, which I can get locally at my butcher.
Right on 😎
SRF gold is awesome I tried yesterday and wow it is súper tender and flavorful definetilly worth it
Agree 100%
How does this compare to the Otto Wilde OFB? I like USA made but its a $300 premium
Problem I see is you put a tonne of that seasoning on all of them. That covers and/or changes the flavor. What ya'll need to do is try just a tiny bit of salt and do it all over again!!! Here in California there's Harris Ranch - very good and reasonably priced. Snake River is in a League of its own and True American Wagyu. Their Cap of Ribeye Steaks are exceptional - no matter the grade!
You know, I don't disagree with you at all! Cap of Ribeye is absolutely the best cut IMO.
ua-cam.com/video/r_Qqj3EV_A0/v-deo.html Just cooked one awhile back actually :)
The biggest question is: does Mill Creek Co ship? Id like to try them over here in California
I ordered a black Wagyu flatiron steak from Snake River Farms this morning. It’s going to be Christmas dinner.
Sounds like you're going to have a VERY MERRY Christmas 😂😎 I LOVE SRF!!!
How was your christmas dinner friend?
You did not mention the flavor of the filet (your anticipated favorite) and that sear seemed to be burnt.
I love the Bearded Butcher Black seasoning. Seared, yes... Burnt, no way!! You have to try it, it's awesome 😎
Oh, the Ribeye cap filet... It was awesome and easily my favorite! I'll do a video soon on those.
Very nicely done by you and the family. Joe in Michigan. Buying 2 for the wife and I (snake river Gold). t.y. t.y. t.y.
That's awesome, check out that Ribeye Cap filet 😎
So glad you got turned on to the Bearded Butcher black!!! Isn’t it incredible?!
It really is!! I buy it in bulk now 😎
@@grillmastere the first time I used it was on a ribeye. That initial bite was almost a religious experience. Have you tried the Hollywood? It’s amazing too. I’m going to order the Butter Blend and give it a go.
Never even heard of it 🤔 Bearded Butchers also? I'll give it a try 👍
@@grillmastere yes, from the Bearded Butchers
How long does a tank of fuel last for you? Would you say way less compared to a typical propane grill?
The 1lbs bottles last a good bit. If I had to guess probably 5/6 cooks? I'll pay closer attention and report back.
Snake River Farms and Holy Grail are the ONLY 2 known Wagyu beef farms who actually imported Wagyu COWS from Japan, as far as I can research. One or both of these normally get certified F2 at the MINIMUM, and that both offer A5 goods is not surprising. Wolfgang Puck swears by Snake River since the 90's. I knew one chef here in L.A. who tested the S River beef and it's on an entirely new level. Said that it's like flying first class and anything less like grocery steaks is like flying economy/coach. No comparison but it will hit your wallet big time.
Holy grail A5 BMS 12 is the one and only
Bearded butchers black def a go to for our house. Your sear machine seems skeptical. Charcoal way to go. Appreciate the comparison video though
Try one and then report back 😎
Gotta start an experiment like this on my ranch, those look like some fine steaks mister!
Nice, share your results with us :)
I cook a lot of steaks and have several different grills for steaks. If you had to pay for it yourself would you purchase the blazing bill again ?
I am so close to ordering one. But that’s a big investment when I already have seven different steak girls lol
I purchased mine, and I have no regrets. It is an expensive piece of equipment but when you see and use it in person, you’ll understand why. It’s a quality grill. I like it better than it’s competitors for sure. If you can swing it, I would buy it. Nothing cooks like it! I never use my other grills. Hope that helps!
Grill Master E thank you very much for the honest reply. I have tons of grills. I have a really nice infrared regular grill that I use a lot but after the videos Ive seen and your review. I’m going to order one tomorrow. Thank you again
Those steaks were overdone. Too much crap on them for such expensive steaks.
Don't knock it until you've tried it 😎 I do like them rare though 👍
I think you can't go wrong either way, but I'm cheap, so $30 it is! The Snake River is more Wagyu, or maybe even a Holstein Wagyu F1, and the local one is a pretty garden variety Angus / Wagyu mix. As a farmer / rancher myself, I take a little different approach by going the grass fed route. I think I raise the best beef outside of the Wagyu family, a small breed called "Dexters." Their smaller frame (700-750 lbs on the hoof at slaughter) can marble out real well without grain, and it has a nutritional profile about the same as salmon. So does the "real" Wagyu by the way, but you weren't putting out the real thing there my friend. A 4 oz Wagyu A5 would run you $400. Believe me, it's enough, you couldn't force more than 4 oz down, it's that rich.
Thanks for the detail! That's great information. I'd love to try your beef sometime. Oh, and I've had A5. That's another level.
@@grillmastere I’ll send you some. You know, the farmers cut isn’t the fillet or ribeye. A big treat for us would be a good tri tip as far as steaks are concerned.
We do something with beef tongue at least once per week. The heart also. Not grilling, but brazing. Still great meat though.
Heck yeah, can't wait 😎👍
@@grillmastere where do I send? Do you have a P.O. Box set up like all the other rich and famous you tubers?
I wish 😂 PM me on Instagram @vwhoarder or FB Eliot Vancil and I'll send it to you 👍
Can you order Mill Creek Meat Company wagyu beef online Like the video
I know they were looking into it at one time. Check out my buddy Tyler at Booth Creek Ranch. Their stuff is amazing!
Is the gold tougher because of all the fat??
No, marbling actually makes it more tender.
$1250 for the blazing bull!!! 😱
Yeah, I know but it's worth it!
@@grillmastere well after researching a bit thats a fair price compared to the commercial versions lol
I got it anyways on memorial day sale!! Lol
@@sgirl1822 nice, how’s it working for you?
What about the filet tho?
I'll do one soon, they are super good :)
@@grillmastere I meant thr steak you kept saying was going to be your favorite in this video...you gave no review of it. The ribeye filet..
@@JC-xy7pb I concur😁
@@JC-xy7pb You are correct, somehow I missed including that footage. Amazing, and it was my favorite! I'll do another video soon on the ribeye cap!!
@@69Pigman I missed the footage somehow.. Rookie mistake, it was easily my favorite! I'll do a video on them soon, they are awesome!
sous vide them bad boys then use your grilll.
I love to sous vide 😎
I lost grain cells watching this video!
Hopefully you picked up some meat cells 😎
Had a body scan done, my doctor told me to stop eating meat ASAP! 😢.Anyone else has this problem??
Don't need all the seasoning on good steak. That's for cheap crap.
wow dude all that shitty seasoning on the most amazing meat in the world ... all it needs is salt and pepper ... now you won't even taste it
Thanks for the opinion.
@@grillmastere This guy clearly never smoked steaks and seared em... That dry rub is everything... especially on top of marinading. Keep doing God's work on the grill, brother!
Just can't watch anything that ruins good cuts of beef with all that seasoning. Sure, its not ruined, but its close, 100% unneeded. AND, steaks are virtually the easiest thing in the world to cook, sous vide & sear or straight grill or cast iron, all this jibber jabber techno garbled cooking is nonsense. Lastly, good cooks learn how to gauge doneness/temp with touch, stop gouging holes in the meat multiple times with a thermometer.
dont make no sense use all these other products..when just turn on oven to broil ... 4-5 mins on one side and 4-5 mins other side and ,,,,steak done,
I love that Bearded Butcher rub to. They looked like they about ready out of the blazing bull. I m for sure going to check those out for searing as well.
