I miss the 7900xtx TUF and the Evga ftw3 3080 I used to owned... but I don't regret it. They were the quitest cards I've ever had. I always get paranoid with Coil Whine or high pitched fans, it's the scariest thing about buying cards.
Best of luck to you man, I'll try and get a GPU asap but there's like 2 5090's in the entirety in Australia. If I can't get it day 1 then I'm not gonna bother with scalped prices, we can both have 5080's.
Frogboy sadly suffers from FOMO and somehow got convinced he "needs" the newest cards even if it turns out to be a lackluster upgrade; like going from 7900XTX to RTX 5080...
Yeah... I have opted for 5080 vs 5090 cuz 5090 has a bigger uplift in 4k vs 1440p, but I am sticking with 1440p for another 2-4 generations...Hoping 5080 will last for 4-6 years before I need to upgrade. Good luck to us all ))))

Bro i tried DLSS 4.0 a little bit, i can tell, its a MASSIVE improvement over DLSS 3.0, You need to see it in Person! UA-cam Videos dosen't do it justice because of the compression. i was shocked how good it looked.
Coming from a 6800xt (running 1440 triples) I want to jump this week. 4080s for 1.079 euro is the offer. Do I wait for a 5080 for (probably) 1200 euro… which will be hard to get… or do I just go 4080s and be done with it for 2-3 years. Prices of 40series should also go up… when not being produced anymore soon. 🤷♂️ I’m 99% doing sim racing (so fast moving content and FG is no option; DLSS could be). what do you guys think?
Lots saying you won't like it but because of the extra detail & clarity you get now on DLSS 4 I do actually think it will appeal to you That's the whole reason I wanted native 4K when I bought the XTX in the first place... because of that extra detail and now with DLSS 4 it looks to be bringing us that That's what has sold me
Enjoy trading 24GB VRAM the 7900XTX has for 16GB VRAM the RTX 5080 has. You won't be able to play on max settings due to VRAM limitations. That "extra detail" won't fit in the RTX 5080's limited VRAM capacity...
5000 series features will suit you more than me most likely also My Monitor is 144hz 4K, so MFG seems a bit pointless for me I think you have a 240hz so least MFG can fill that out
Personally I think we should celebrate on getting new features from Nvidia, because we know that AMD will also get the same exact feature 4+ years later. DLSS transformer model and ray reconstruction, we will get it on AMD 4+ years later as well. So don't worry everyone. Nvidia push AMD to have more features, while AMD push Nvidia to lower their prices, it's a win win for everyone involved.
Here's a cool idea, Frog. What if you buy a lower end 60-class Nvidia card (like you did with AMD and the 7600xt), if majority of consumers will end up with that tier of card anyway... Squeeze as much performance you can from it, and learn how to optimize games around it... It might bring you more joy, tweaking Nvidia cards to better cater to your needs. Or tweak it, so you'd get on the "Nvidia bros" good graces whenever they stumble upon your videos... Maybe even Nvidia themselves... Great potential to make some noise and grow your channel and hopefully, someday, will get you products from both NVIDIA and AMD.
I honestly don’t know why is frog even buying nvidia.. He’s gonna repeat the same thing he did the last time!! Buy it complain about it sell it and say Amd is better… mark my words. It gets to the point now I can predict all his contents he only repeats the same things over and over again how much he loves Amd and not realizing he’s talking to the same viewers
Apparently latest leaks claim that the 5080 is 15% faster than a 4080 SUPER which would put the 5080 around 10% behind a 4090... if that's the case that's amazing since the 5080 will be $999 MSRP and the 4090s are still going for $2,500.
You didn't like the 4080 enough to keep it and this is only like 10% faster dude. Dlss was already gkod theres not not much difference in 4. 40 series can still use it lol.
Many of us told him he should sell his XTX card and get the 5090 which i think he would have a much better experience overall but he wants the clicks. End of the day i feel he wont really like the 5080 and he's going to shell to amd or he might end up getting the 5090 which he could of listened to us and saved a few steps. 5080 doesn't beat a 4090 unless your using DLSS + MFG which then its on par and sometimes beating a 4090 but looking at specs the 5080 is a slightly better 4070 Ti imo.
Im kinda brand loyal to Nvidia and its not because I think theyre SO MUCH BETTER.. Pure Raster the two companies are quite comparable. I like RT. Ive loved Ray Tracing since day 1 and Nvidia just does it better. Otherwise Id have bought a 7900xtx instead of the 4090. Im waiting on AMDs new cards specs to come out before I buy a new GPU cuz if I can get a little more performance than my 4090 with better RT performance for a good price Ill buy AMD. 5090 is 4 grand in Canada. I cant justify that just to have 20, 30% more power and MFG. I only have a 175hz 3440x1440 Oled and im not buying a better monitor. My 4090 does 120+ no sweat. I like DLSSFG as it sits now anyway. The only thing Id miss if AMD drops something for me would be DLSS. FSR is pretty damn close now though

I don't think you should buy the 5080, it won't be that much faster than the 7900XTX. You will trade 24GB VRAM for 16GB, which won't be enough. Indiana Jones uses 16GB, Last of Us uses 14GB, you see the trend. You will be forced to play on medium
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor I felt the optimization is rough. I played with the visual settings maxed out, ray tracing turned off, and using native resolution for most of the game, my fps was north of 90 fps. But I did notice that the 7900XTX was using over 20 VRAM at times, and at times system RAM usage was over 16GB. So yes, I think that you need a lot more VRAM, and I understand VRAM is used to store textures, frames, and other graphical data, and generating frames, especially at higher resolutions and quality settings, needs more of this storage space to process smoothly.
