Seeing my tank suddenly die when I'd gotten used to only half paying attention in a few of the previous dungeons gave me a bit of a jolt that made me want to be better at healing. Then they're baffled when fans ask them to do something similar again. Yeah, it's good to criticize the bad but definitely highlight what you like as well so devs know when they're on the right track.

unfortunately no the developers only learn about things from interviews which are screened in advanced by the shitty suits who run things behind scenes which is why its so important to have player surveys and player interviews not sponsored by Square F*ing Enix cause their PR is going to nuke any such constructive or critical feedback to make the game better in the long run for everyone involved
what we are seeing now is that FINALLY our voices are starting to pierce thru the bullshit but honestly its probably too late they've lost alot of people already some might come back but they wont stay long if the developers can't prove to them they are capable of actually listening an pushing for improvements in the way they handle gameplay, story telling, quality control and rewards.
i know alot of people who are bitter an resentful towards Square Enix for allowing things to drag out this long it really feels like a slap in the face for all those who stuck out with ffxiv this entire time and some even say "WHY NOW?!" and why not 5 even 8 years ago!?" either way i think those with betrayed expectations are due an explanation and maybe even a bit of an public apology or at least acknowledgement that their extremely long service of support toward the game has not gone unnoticed similar to how the 1.x players(legacy) where personally acknowledged by all of the staff at CBU 3 an even the company president apologized for the disaster it caused.
and for alot of these players they look at Dawntrail as being the last straw as well so this expansion could be the most important one of all as this is going to set a precedent going forward.

8:00 Truest statement there's ever been about game dev. You're gonna lose some fans depending on whatever direction you take, easier, harder, keep it the same, folks are gonna be madge. The key is to make sure you are making the game _you_ want to make so that your passion can carry you to good execution.
Sounds to me like YoshiP wants it to be a bit harder and, I have to think, a lot of fans are gonna go along with him. Further, it'll prolly bring more fans to the game. It'll prolly lose some folks as well but...what exactly are you supposed to do? Just staying the same will lose people as well so....

True!! I think another good thing to point out that while he did say the content was too easy and they're going to make it where players have to think and strategize more, he also said they are going to keep developing the solo content and with their current new goals for large scale, more strategized content, they are still going to be updating and working on the solo content (like the variant dungeons) for more of the solo/casual players as well.
I really admire YoshiP and have immense respect for him as a game designer, you really can't make a game for everyone, but it is clear that he sees every type of player in his game - casuals, hardcore, midcore, crafters, people who're just there for the story, levelers, etc etc. What makes him so great is that he not only sees, but acknowledges, the different players that play FFXIV and he wants to make content that engages everybody but in their own different ways. Watching him explain the timeline of development and their different focuses they had for each expansion just really shows how much he listens to his player audience and cares for not only the game, but for them, for us.
All in all, I think its so cool that YoshiP is constantly driving and pushing himself and his team to try different things, to find what works, what doesn't, and if they make mistakes along the way then they'll learn from that and know what to do right. Seeing you talk about that made me so excited and I just had to rant about this for a sec cause seeing YoshiP actually care about his players, and all of his players, is really incredible and admirable to me

MMOs are notorious for being YEARS behind visually and there isn't anything that can bring some of us back to extremely visually dated games.

The problem is the fact that these duties get done repeatedly.
Any duty or battle in XIV will be exciting the first or maybe even first couple of times you do it, but when you do it repeatedly for things like roulettes, high-end prog, or farming for mounts or glams, any duty no matter how exciting, is going to get boring and mundane at some point or another. That threshold may differ by the person and by the duty, but it exists at some point for every person and every piece of content in the game.
Yoshi-P could craft the most exciting, thrilling fight anyone's seen in any game ever, but once you've done it 100 times, no matter what it is, it's not going to be as exciting the 100th time.
On top of this they've imposed the challenge of finding a way to make new duties more fun, not boring, but also not more difficult. This narrows down even further the possibilities of what they could possibly come up with.
I look forward to seeing how they could possibly imagine remedying this when it seems conceptually not feasible.

Then they won’t be able to take away anything from the criticisms. I look forward to what they will do to make the game more engaging.

I very much agree. Having criticisms is fine, but framing it as "my opinion is more valid than your opinion" is only going to serve to divide people. I get that she received abusive responses for her opinions, but smugly saying "Yoshi-P agrees with me, I told you so" is not going to change anyone's mind. If anything, it's only lead to further abusive and unconstructive discussion. She's essentially giving the dickheads recognition by engaging with them, while also alienating people who don't agree with her views but want to engage in constructive discussions about it.

@@BriGuy77711 very much this. personally I find the game as it exists in Endwalker to be exactly what I was looking for in a game. even without trying to prog in extreme/savage/ultimate content, there was enough content for me to maintain my sub the whole of the expansion. with that said, I may not have agreed with everything she said in the previous video on the topic, but it was a fair opinion. this video on the other hand, seems like it was made more as a "I told you so, haha I'm right and you're wrong."
the problem with critisism as a whole, is that the ones giving it are often (not always) a vocal minority. positive feedback is less common because the people who would give it are enjoying the game and don't find a need for anything to change.
it's fair to say that a decent chunk of development time has gone to updating past content to be compatible with the duty support system this expansion, I highly advise going back through many of the older duties that are part of the MSQ to see the changes for yourself, I still get duties in leveling roulette that I haven't gone back to every once in a while and get suprised like "that's not how I remember this." I can hope that the time they save not having to go back and change the old cotent going forward is used to create a balance between how the game is now in a place where I am very happy with what I am getting out of it, and the more challenging experience that what I suspect has been a vocal minority has been asking for.

As primarily a raider in the game, I'm hoping for one thing that FF14 is severely lacking compared to other MMOs: Gear customization. Right now as it stands it's basically set to 2 different choices each tier for gear pieces (tomestone gear or raid gear being BiS) and lacks build diversity that a lot of other MMOs have. This is probably easier said than done, but being able to theorycraft a new build or create your own build that is viable and isn't hard stuck to "this is BiS, nothing else even comes close in comparison" kinda sucks. Also, I would love to see the open world be more utilized for potential gear pieces (could be like pieces of a gear and after collecting X amount of said drop, you can exchange it for said gear piece). Other than that I'm glad to hear things are moving in a better direction, as I liked Endwalker but see the potential for the game to me so much more.

main issue I see is the gap between savage/ultimate content, and Story/extreme content. There's nothing in between. Story content is so easy it actually turns players away from the game, extreme content only requires you to know what every AOE marker means. Then the next jump in difficulty is savage where it would take a new player hours just to understand what they are supposed to do, let alone execute it.

I think time investment, including wipes, are part of the reason why it is so hard to balance the desirable difficulty of content, most of the time on roulettes most people are expecting a no wipe run, so it becomes harder and harder for the team to balance the challenges. I think Alliance Raids are interesting gauges of how they reacted to community feedback regarding this, Ivalice was considered hard, so then NieR has somewhat easy mechanics but the bosses are ultra sponges and it took so long to complete, and then on Myths of the Realm they overcorrected and the bosses are ultra squishy. It clearly shows they care about feedback but the results are not always ideal, so hopefully they find the sweet spot of difficult and time investment for each type of content.

The Vault was actually a great place to train to get decent at the game. I remember I used to pride myself in being able to heal it properly because of how many times I ran that place lol I do feel like most dungeons have been too simple for my taste, like the mechanics are creative, but they happen only one at a time, so it becomes too streamlined once you know what to do. If you're playing a class that's been streamlined as well, such as SMN or WHM, then you essentially press one single button and move around from time to time. I understand simplifyin the game to make it more accessible, but I also think they overdid it in some aspects. There is a special feeling you get when you can show you play your class well, or when somebody comes to you for advice. I also understand the toxicity that comes with it, because when things get past a certain difficulty threshold, people get super elitist, but there's different ways of dealing with the problem. But if there's one thing I trust, from being in this game since closed beta, is that they listen to feedback, and if it's reasonable, they will work on it. That is something Yoshi-P has shown time after time, so I know we're gonna have these fluctuations in quality, but they're always gonna be working to make the game better.

Hmm, this is going to be a tough challenge because it probably involves trade-offs unfortunately. This game is largely accessible to players of ALL types. Be it, hearing impaired, vision impaired, players with mobility difficulties. This game has done more for players of all sorts including within its storyline for those that may not have physical difficulties. While I agree, it’d be fun to bring back a lot of that excitement of the learning to fail - I sort of have a mental personal chart which is where I like to base things off of the Nier raids. Nier 1-2 were tough but manageable, third Nier is just a throw you under the bus then the bus backs up over you and then pulls forward again but at least gives the common courtesy to look out the window and ask if you’re good. So much of the endwalker post content is, terrible, recalling places you’ve just visited to save space I can get from a dev standpoint but for gameplay it felt like I was following the carrot on the stick. I’m more afraid of this expansion than any other as this is sort of the new beginning on the oldest of code, graphical update though. Just not sure how long it’ll tick from here on out but I hope for the best. The dungeons and trials later game felt like boring, boring, boring, sweet spot - where it’s difficult enough to be fun- then oh god why? There wasn’t a bell curve it just jumped off the cliff like a lemming. Easy easy easy, moderate, oh gawd. Once you get it though, you get it but that was my personal initial reaction. Anyway, cheers, looking forward to dawntrail with you all sorry for the long post take care, travel well, hug your buns.

I really personally like what theyre doing outside of some of the dungeons being too much of a breeze as well as the rewards not being worth it half the time. And my major/biggest complaint has always been the jobs and how most jobs dont feel different and the ones that do have one big mechanic that changes them up and then you just got back to a 1 2 3 rotation and wait two minutes to switch it up again. I always felt that was the most infuriating part where astrologian was maybe the most unique job next to either red mage and sage. Thats why i have switched from white mage to sage because theres more to do than just heal and spam one button. Even if the mechanic of the link (kardia?) is no different than scholars fairy and does the same thing but in a different way. And even with all that said they even streamlined astro and turned it into a much easier job with even less diversity.
I also dont really feel like im playing certain jobs. While i enjoy seeing different developers takes on different jobs- i do enjoy a lot of their streamlined roles and playstyles in other final fantasy games. Like ff4 cecil paladin where he automatically takes damage for low health teammates. I know you still have cover but unlike ff4 its not single target until you switch targets and there is no automatic use of it when allies are low. Plus it has a tether which is really short.
Dark knight doesnt really even feel like dark knights of previous games. Outside of its invulnerable spell theres no place that you damage yourself to deal extra damage. And keeping in mind that it is a tank- i know its not meant to do crazy amounts of damage but it would be cool to be able to risk your health to hit harder.
With berserker i do like the auto crit mechanic but it just doesnt really feel like i went berserk. I can literally activate it and just stand there. And while i get its an active game and having an ability that lovks your movement isnt good- that would still be fun because you can start making strategies around it and figure out good times to use it to maximize dps rather than just having to do every mechanic without messing up your combo once.
As someone who unfortunately cant find time ir people to play harder content with- ive only just recently learned and started using the 2 minute meta semi-correctly. There is so much casual content and for some reason none of it presents a challenge that has forced me to play my job better. It has never forced me to coordinate my attacks and buffs with others. Ive legitimately just wildly attacked and used abilities as soon as theyve come off cooldown and still managed to sweep content.
They definitely need to move extreme content down a notch and put something inbetween savage and extreme to take its place. I also would love it if they brought back hard content. While not much different than just the base trials and dungeons it does feel a lot more stressful than the base dungeons are in arr for example.
Im not getting my hopes up but i might go find a shooting star and wish that he really does a good job changing up the content and the game mechanics.

However, while I have always agreed throughout Endwalker that there isn't enough meaningful stuff to do and no challenge (particularly no midcore), it was the way you said it in your videos that put me off and was kinda cringe. To be clear, I never commented or got mad at you for that but I just quietly stopped watching. It felt like you were dumping your emotional damage from TOP all over the community and the game. I don't know if that was a factor or a build up of factors, but it doesn't matter. The end result was what it was. Sometimes how you say something is more important than what you say.

I never liked the idea of IS over Adventure Zones, I hated the lack luster relic "grind" from day one, there was no reason to do criterion, I was concerned with the new focus on solo play, and basically each patch was over in a day.
Here's to hoping things turn out for the better going forward.
