    you stabilize your anvil more, you will lose less energy, firmly attach it to that frame and. stack up mass on it, again making sure it cant shift around.
    also, a larger hammer means you get more out of each strike.
    feel free to disregard this entirely, I'm just a hobbyist, and you do good work in the end.
    I just thought i would try to helo make it a bit easier
    less strikes, less possibility for mistakes

      Incorrect. That is exactly how one grinds blades. The fear you have is not born out in operation. Every book on blade making shows this, and I've been doing it for 33 years.

    • @Ih8stupidhumans
      @Ih8stupidhumans 8 років тому +1

      +Mike Williamson Yet, when you strop a blade, it is done just that way. I've also seen makers grind with the belt traveling away from the edge. Cutco does this, for one.

    A noob here, would you need to harden the steel again or can you leave it the way you bought it? I believe a wrench is already quite hard and probably heat treated, but I noticed you heated the nearly finished product and quenched it in something, I assume water since there were no flames. I am thinking of copying this and seeing how close I can get, would love this bit of info, I know how to do everything else shown here but I want a usable product in the end :D

    You must've welded on some more metal for the blade at some point. Is there really enough material there to draw it out that much?

    Man I love your creations, if I had a workshop I would love to make knives too (even copying some of yours), but as a student in a small city of Austria I don't have the tools and the needed space. So I watch your videos and get satisfied even by looking at them.
    Continue your work!

      You can use old motor oil or you can buy quenching oil at an auto parts store. And it coats the exterior of metal in carbon
