I’m curious what made it eerie for you? Decay & signs of neglect make it more eerie for me than the remnants of people. Are all Roman cemeteries this formal?

What I appreciate about your videos is your perspective of what you're experiencing. As you spoke of the monuments and graves, you described your feelings of what you're seeing, the allegory of the art. Few of your colleagues do so. And few countries do so so artistically. I hope you consider going to Caves of Ardeatine, where a gruesome murder occurred by the nazis during WW2, and which today (April 25th) is usually visited by the Italian president dignitaries, and citizens to remember the sacrifice of the Italians under nazi occupation. The setting's beautiful, extremely well labeled like a museum (well, I guess it is a museum). Two big cemeteries may be a bit much for most of your viewers, but I find strength in the struggle of the citizens and partisans at the time against oppression. Thanks, keep 'em coming.

Hi there, we are visiting Rome in December and whilst there we will be filiming several locations. Can I ask, and this may seem a stupid question, but is the use of camera's / video equipment (GoPro) allowed inside the Cemetery or do you just kind-of risk using them?

Goffredo Mameli, that written word of italian national hymn, from 1941 is buried at the Garibaldin Mausoleum at Gianicolo, in Rome, At Verano there is your cenotafio... Garibaldi buried in Verano are nephew and son of Giuseppe Garibaldi, that is buried at island of Caprera in Sardinia...

The biggest Cemetery in Rome, isn't Verano, but Cemetery Flaminio (also called e knowed by romans like Cimitero of Prima Porta) that is the biggest Cemetery in Italy... Source: I live in Rome and visit often Verano...

Interesting place to explore. I wonder if this was an early version of the “modern cemetery” where anyone with the means to buy a space could have an “eternal” resting place, guaranteed not to ever be removed? I’m pretty sure that previous to this movement, most common folk were buried in places not so sacrosanct & subject to disruption after generations passed.
I think the asphalt is probably the worst aspect of the entire place, & deferred maintenance.

È un vero peccato che il video non mostri la tomba dello scultore Giulio Monteverdi con un angelo famosissimo imitato nei cimiteri di tutto il mondo, la cui immagine è stata perfino tatuata sul braccio di un famoso sportivo straniero.
