  • Musa al-Gharbi promoted his new book, We Have Never Been Woke: Social Justice Discourse, Inequality and the Rise of a New Elite, during his talk at House of Speakeasy. The book will be published by Princeton University Press.
Musa al-Gharbi, HxA staff member, is an assistant professor of journalism, communication, and (by courtesy) sociology at Stony Brook University and a research fellow at Heterodox Academy. Al-Gharbi's work explores how people talk about, think about, and produce a shared understanding of social phenomena - from race, inequality, social movements to extremism, policing, national security and foreign policy, to domestic U.S. political contests. In addition to his research, al-Gharbi is a prolific public intellectual whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, The Atlantic, New Republic, The Nation, The Guardian and many other outlets. He is regularly tapped to contextualize current events, including spots for NPR, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, USA Today, Slate and Voice of America.

Musa is the most consistent radical. He takes wokeness to its logical conclusion.
