- M18 Metal Circular Saw - The Milwaukee FUEL M18 5-3/8" Metal Saw is a compact and lightweight metal cutting saw designed for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and general construction contractors. The M18 saw, model number 2782-20, has a Brushless PowerState Motor for longer battery life and more power. Milwaukee claims this saw will make over 370 cuts of 3/4" EMT on a single battery charge, almost doubling the battery life of the prior model 2682-20. Because of the saw's lightweight, 6.5 lbs, it is easy to use for overhead cuts or full day work with less fatigue. To help cut thin metal that could have some vibration, Milwaukee added an extra-large cut guide to help keep the users line of cut in view. There is also an impact resistant window with a LED light allowing excellent line of site for precise cuts, no matter the lighting. The stainless steel shoe reduces chip build-up to prevent surface marring. The M18 Metal Saw comes with a 5-3/8" 30T Carbide-Tipped Metal Saw Blade that makes cool, burr-free cuts through EMT, strut, threaded rod, sheet metal, angle iron and other ferrous materials.

Cool Cuts
This type of metal cutting, including much larger miter saws, are very popular for cutting metal in Europe. Watching some of the very intricate and accurate cuts made by these cool cutting circular saws had me very interested in them. Because our garage is used for storing cars and also metal work, we try to limit the amount of cutting that can put metal dust or fine particles in the air. They can attract in areas of cars or car covers and scratch the car if they are moved or rubbed. Metal circular saws create much larger chips that are easier to clean up and are not hot. Immediately after your cut, the metal can be handled without worry of burning or cutting your hand from burrs. The ability to cut metal in this manner makes this saw great for the construction trades. Work can keep moving and be completed faster because there is no waiting over hot metal or deburring of edges.
Low RPM
Out of the few metal cutting saws that wehave used like this, Milwaukee has the lowest RPM. This gearing of the motor seems to add more torque and is a great strategy for better cuts. The lower RPM is that it allows for easier cuts over thin metal, like metal siding and roofing. The cut speed seems to be about the same as higher RPM saws, but the saw and cut line are more controllable. The blade used by Milwaukee could also have something to do with how well it cuts. When doing a combination of wood and metal cutting, the saw was a bit slower, but still very accurate and controlled. These saws are not designed to cut wood, but it is a benefit that it can easily cut sheathing if needed.
Overall
Milwaukee has a great design for a small metal saw that is light weight and has solid ergonomics to be used overhead if need be. The LED light and clean sight of the cut line is excellent. We enjoyed the saws smooth and vibration free feeling. If you do a fair amount of metal cutting and have not used a saw like this we suggest you check them out. Metal circular saws make less of a mess with little to no heat buildup. - Навчання та стиль
I have the old version and have had it about 2-3 years and it is going strong. I'm an electrician and I prefer it over the sawzall and bandsaw for most of the cuts i make. It saves a lot of time because it makes quick work of EMT, RIGID, and all thread.
I needed this 2 days ago. had to hack through some metal with a reciprocating saw that made an uneven cut. i could still use this.
Had to cut a ton of steel doors down for a job this made quick work of it the doors were 2” deep and I was surprised the 5 3/& blade cut the whole depth awesome tool Milwaukee
Thank you so much for the review and tutorial! Very helpful, I just bought one of these to cut wood, not knowing when I bought it that it’s intended to cut metal. This is great for me because I’m a welder/fabricator, so this saw will be getting some use!
This thing is amazing! I think I need it, based on what I have seen here it will cut most of the metal stock I need. Great review as always! #WorkshopAddict
Did u get it yet
amazing tool
Nice review! I wish I had a need to justify the purchase.
I really like that M18 2782-20 metal cutting saw #WorkshopAddict !!!
I need one of these...
I have this saw, it works so well, but recently I noticed that there were a few teeth chipped a little bit, is it normal?
That saws awesome! I need to grab one. Nice video Brian!
So do u get it
@@larrytheplumber9851I’m on a new account. Yes I bought it and I regret it. Don’t buy it it sucks ahh
Pretty slick little rig. I'm sure some tradesmen might appreciate it. #WorkshopAddict
Mines ordered and in its way!
Does anybody know where the best place to buy new blades for this tool is?
can you cut wood with a wood blade on this
Will 4 double A batteries work with it 🤔
Awesome demo and review. Have you e er compared it to the Makita XSC04Z, the brushless 5 7/8” metal cutting circ saw? I like the chip catcher on the Makita but wonder if you could melt it if you were doing some serious cutting.
No, it doesn't melt anything inside bits collector.
I used Makita and Metabo recently.
Wonder why milwaukee left this important thing behind; bits collector!!!
Marketing strategy
I've been watching your vids on new tools. As a huge Milwaukee user. I'm in need of a metal cutter for 1 1/4 chrome closet rods. I had been using a miter saw with metal cutting disc ,my M12 sawzall with fine tooth blade or the old hand powered hacksaw but the sparks are not jobsite friendly and the sawzall is not stable to get the cut going.. I've been looking at the M18 metal cutting saw or the M12 bandsaw. Any thoughts Thanks
M12 band saw would be my choice. I think this metal circ saw would do it also, but I fear what would happen if it snagged a bit of the thin metal.
Will this cut through a bank style safe and how many blades would it take? would you be able to do it in less than 6 minutes just cutting a 12 square inch hole through three layers of hardened steel? will the LED help you see the work area without any other lights on ? thanks!
LMAO. No
@@WorkshopAddict how much for this saw tell me the price and i will like subscribe and share immediately
great question, hilarious
Can I cut a tow truck clamp off though
Nice review ! I was wondering is that guard plastic ? I just got the M12 cut off tool and it’s black and plastic. Debating on getting this baby or the M12 circular saw.
Most of it is a light weight metal, but there is a small mount of plastic around the chip collection.
Most of these small cold cutting metal saws have an identical design: plastic upper and lower blade guard and a stamped steel shoe that is spot welded to the depth guide. Some of them have a protective steel lip piece for the lower guard.
Very cool!... get it?
I just got one as part of a deal with a free tool from H.D. but I still have two questions. One: can I switch the blade for a framing and use it on wood? And two, can I cut rebar (no. 3 and no. 4) with the metal cutting blade included?
you can definitely cut wood
Mine seems to use up the 5.0 amp hr batteries fairly quick. 10 cuts on 2x4x1/8" box tube and the batteries are dead. And they are brand new batteries as well
That thing is eating them!
Robert Blanchard gas is better
Buy a bigger battery ya cheap ass. Come over and get one from me
8.0, 9.0 and 12.0 would change that.
Would this be an alternative to a Sawzall in the Residential Service Plumbing trade when it comes to cutting out existing galvanized steel piping in 1/2" to 3/4" diameter? Sawzall is what everyone around here uses, but the vibration gets very uncomfortable when repiping a house and doing 20-30 cuts in a day to cut out old existing 10 feet long sections down to fit on a truck.
Yes and it will also cut wood if you wanted to in a pinch. This would be much better than a sawzall.
I prefer the compact bandsaw M12 by milwaukee.
Would strongly recommend a bandsaw for cutting tubes of pipe, easiest thing to cut with, especially if the pipes are vertical, but great for horizontal cuts too. Use a pipe chain vice if you can, ESPECIALLY IF USING THE CIRCULAR SAW

@@WorkshopAddict can I buy wood blades for this saw?
I really, really like that M18 2782 metal saw. And I think it's Brian favorite too. #WorkshopAddict
Goodstuff! I've subbed
Can you cut say ⅛ inch sheet down a bit with these?
Can you change the blade and use that circular saw to cut wood?
Was wounder the same thing.
Is this saw specifically made to be cutting steel? Would I be able to put steel cutting blade on a different Milwaukee circular saw?
1) yes 2) no
How does this do ripping a piece of 4x8 3/16 plate? How many cuts do u think?
1 like butter 🧈 baby
I like the tools
Will this work ok for wood after swapping the blade. Looks easy to carry up ladders
Will work for wood with the blade in it.
Will this work as fine as a normal Milwaukee circular saw on wood, or is it slower rpm?
It can burn the motor if metal bits get inside the case.. and the average rpm specs of cutting disk are lower for metal and higher for wood.
Compared to the m12 cutoff tool?
Very similar.
Can I change the blads out on use it to cut wood?
The blade in it will cut wood
Fucc it cut it 🤪
It's a decent saw although i feel the blade that comes with it and the replacement Diablo blades don't last very long even while cutting 10 ga. sheetmetal and the Diablo blades are pricey also dont be fooled by the blade guard this saw it throws alot of metal at your face, and a full face shield won't cut it you need at set of goggles to protect your eyes (found out the hard way! )

Hi , just one simple question.. can you cut wood with this saw an blade?? thank you for your answer . Great video !!
U still waiting?
Cut wht ever u want .fuck it cut it
Can you cut wood with it ? (when using wood blade)
You can cut wood with it with the metal blade in it without issue and it cuts pretty well.
Fuck it cut it
How many teeth are on the blade plzz thx in advance
very call cool how can I buy it in Saudi Arabia .
How many teeth r on the blade plzz
Why in the hell do manufacturers put the motor on the left side?
Hi, is this better than a band saw?
Fucc yea
Can I get a wood blade on this saw? I came across one on facebook and baught ot before knowing what I had..
How was the saw mate? I want to buy a metal saw as well, and use it for Wood. Please reply when you can. Does he throw metal on your face when cutting?
How do you think it would handle 1inch thick flat bar?
It will cut with ease, just go slow. They make a larger model that would do better.
@@WorkshopAddict Thank you! I would love to get the bigger one but unfortunately they don’t sell it in store on Guam I would have to special order it through my Local Home Depot and pay for shipping and wait 6 to 8 weeks for it to get here by boat 😅
Like butter 🧈
How many battery it came with
I think this was bare tool.
WorkshopAddict does it used fuel. Or battery..
How’s it go cutting Coolroom panel?
You found a good milwalkee circular saw for pannels yet im struggling to find one that doesn’t spit everywhere
With 2” max depth guess it wouldn’t be good for cutting fence posts that are usually 2 3/8”.
Not really. Bandsaw might be best for that.
Why can’t I put a metal cutting blade on a regular circular saw?
Nicksperiments arbors are usually different. Saws spin at a different speed metal vs wood. And the torque of the motors are higher on a metal saw.
You COULD put a metal blade on a wood saw, but I think you’d be surprised how much better a proper saw for the job works.
Think about drilling a 2” hole through steel at the rpm of an 1/8” bit. Just kills the bit. But slow it down and it’ll cut through like butter. Faster is not always better.
jmlcolorado I suppose for someone who cuts metal every day, they would want a dedicated metal saw but for they majority of people like me who only cut metal occasionally, I can’t justify buying such an expensive tool that I won’t use often. Thanks for your help
Nicksperiments that’s cool. Then stick with a sawzawl or 4” grinder to cut metal when needed. Stick with the fuel cordless skil saw if you cut wood most often.
Shame you can't put your speed square on the side for a straight cut.
will it cut half in plate
chris jones half inch plate? Yes, without an issue. you can see the speed it would go in some of our other tests when we cut similar stuff.
WorkshopAddict in that case u just sold one of em. need to fill gap between chop saw and the fuel porta band and if this does half in plate it's the tool for the job in my shop
Can this saw be used with a wood blade to cut wood?
It will cut wood with the metal blade. While this is an old video, I think I show it cutting 2x4s in the video. But long term, this is not a good wood saw. It is more if something you can do in a pinch or 25% of the time.
@@WorkshopAddict Thank you for the reply. We have the metal cutting saw, but, was looking for something that would work for quick, small jobs, a few cuts and we're done.
Debating the need for two saws - a metal saw and a wood saw - since they are so cheap to purchase /s.
would love this to take out to the steel rack and cut off pieces instead of lugging 20' lengths into the shop
Can I just put this blade on my skill saw?
No. All netal parts can find their way into unprotected entry inside electric motor and burn or stop the motor.from working..

No metal bits collector on this machine??
All other big tool makers has one already!
Don't worry it will come on the next model with 70-80 buks more!!!
The inside of the muffle looks like a tesla valve
Nice for purpose it serves if you cut a lot of metal. #workshopaddict
Looks like a great saw. #WORKSHOPADDICT
I need this. looks bad ass #workshipaddict
this Saw is very impressive being able to cut that angle iron like butter #WorkshopAddict
Why no bevel ?
I cannot answer that.
Well it can bounce back if the force applied /side way is lost or weak, and accident can happen.
It make sense just to cut at different depth at 90 degree in metal!
Prize in Pakistan teel me plz
Nice saw #workshopaddict
Wow
Anybody else damaging their blades cutting 20 gauge studs
That is not right! We slowly cut 1/2" cold roll last night and had no issue.
WorkshopAddict yeah I thinks it's meant to cut thicker steal. I bought it for metal stud cutting but 20 gauge and thinner shakes too much during a pass
2huNNedproof Back in the day, we used to turn around the blade and cut metal with it backwards. Might be worth a try.
WorkshopAddict wait you did that with a wood cutting saw?
Yes, on my third blade, keep tearing carbide off didn't think I was using it that hard. I must be cause I have the gearbox tore out now gears stripped off. I heard Diablo makes a blade for it maybe try that one out
#workshopaddict
The blade was trash
