    The rafter hook actually works fairly well when hung on 2x6 or larger, width of the lumber keeps it from swinging under like it was on your work table. The rail you were demonstrating on is just too thin for what it’s designed for.

    Good saw. Just received this saw. Already have 6 1/2 model m18 saw. Super excellent build design and heavy duty. Premium quality lithium tool. The lithium technology is well designed in this powerful tool. No lithium surprises or odd requirements. Strong, dependable, and easy to use. Definitely ergonomic and designed to be easy to use in the hands.

    I've been a carpenter for 30 years and everyone tells me my saw is left-handed.
    I've never understood that. A lefty can't use the measurements on the table to make quick productive tablesaw straight rips. It don't throw dust in your face plus the blade on the left side just don't feel ergonomic to me.
    I reckon it all depends on what your use to.
    Great video. I just got this saw today, it starts making me money tomorrow

    The plunge cut was going with the fiber structure of the wood, that’s why you got those longer stringy chips, or in the tree industry we call them noodles. So that’s the deal with the saw clogging.
    For me, the positive stops or common angle detents are a bit scary, because we’re i to buy this and want to make a 46 instead of a 45 I may end up in a situation where the detent prevents the angle from being made. Without detents as long as I look at it and put the thing on the thing where they line up it’s money.

    The reason most blades are on the right is because the weight of the saw is rested on the keep side and doesn’t want to drop with the drop material with most left blade saws.

    • @Martyntd5
      @Martyntd5 5 років тому

      If you cut from right to left with a blade-left saw, you get to keep the weight of the saw on the keep side. Long rip cuts from right to left are really easy and really safe with a blade left saw. You just have to change what you're used to.

    • @chadhoward3347
      @chadhoward3347 5 років тому +1

      If your ripping. I’m talking generally cross cutting as a right handed person

    • @Martyntd5
      @Martyntd5 5 років тому

      @@chadhoward3347 Yeah, I'm right handed too. Same applies, you just clamp up with the waste on the left instead of the right, or stand end-on and cut right to left. That way the weight of the saw is always over the keep side of the cut.
      The only time it's more of a pain is when you are using a speed square in your left hand as a fence for cutting 2x4's ...then the weight falls over the waste. But for everything else, left blade is easier and better.

    Do you think the saw would work well for people who are left handed? My whole life I've struggled to cut a straight line using others' skilsaws that are made to be held in a right hand, and this caught my eye a while ago because the handle is on the left side. For someone like me, it seems like a dream come true. I haven't seen one in person yet, though.

    The problem with your plunge cyt was you were going along the grain and starting in the middle, when you start at the end of the wood you're ripping up along the ends of the grain. You get the same with a chainsaw when cutting down a bit of wood like that you get grainy strings and it can clog the saw.

      @@MetalMayhem1978 right side blade is best for right handed people in my opinion. So when you have to shave a bit off from a length most of the soleplate is resting on the timber. If it was left handed you would have to balance it on the small part of the soleplate if that makes sense. Also it stops dust going in your face as the saw is in the way, and you can pop your head over for a more accurate cut, and bevel cuts feel more natural on right handed saw

    @starseeddeluxe Рік тому

    Right blade saws are NOT for left handed people. The right blade allows you to actually have effective dust control. The direction of the blade, and the configuration of the guard on a right blade saw, allows all of the dust to be ejected away from your body. Worm Drive saws are very good, but the left blade configuration blows all of the dust straight into your eyes. You can use a left blade saw with your left hand, and avoid the dust, but this is not generally how they are used, and many of the left blade saws don't come with a dust ejection port--all right handed "Sidewinder" saws have a dust ejection port. See 4:10.

    Hi TRZ,
    I have a question on this circular saw. Would it be possible to cover the dust section so the dust can blow downward? Would it damage or harm the circular saw? It's cool it has it but if you are a lefty the dust blows right at you. I use the 6 1/2 (2530) model and the dust blows downward like a worm drive. I like that style better.
    I get it for the guys who work inside and want to use a vacuum system. When working outside that dust in the face is annoying. My son is a lefty and when he use this saw he hates it. It's alright for me because I'm on the other side of the blade (I'm a righty).

    Never under stood how right handed people use left handed saws and vice versa. You really want those chips blowing on you? Blade is across the tool from you for a reason. You're holding a right hand saw...

    • @crazyfvck
      @crazyfvck 3 роки тому

      @Yohanathan Downs Yup! I like having the blade as FAR away from me as possible :) As for some other people, who knows. I read a negative review from an idiot on eBay, who bad-mouthed this saw because he ordered the version shown in this video, which he claimed is a saw for left-handed people :P So he sold it and bought another brand with the blade on the "correct side." What an idiot!

    I bought this saw a month ago to do a composite deck, I had to buy a special blade (diablo), but the saw and blade were amazing, it didn't bog down or slow up at all. I was using 5 amp hour batteries, and they lasted almost all day with cross cutting and angle cuts.. Fantastic saw.

  • @yuripolkavich7469
    @yuripolkavich7469 Рік тому

    Mine can't achieve a true 0° cut, no matter what I try, it's always 2°-3° of positive bevel off. I suspect this is the reason they don't offer positive stops. If they can't even get 0° correct the rest would be off as well. I like to call this my "flaw saw" it's the one I use when the cut isn't that critical and I use my 15 year old cheap $60 corded rigid saw when I need the cuts to be perfect.

    Just got this and I can't loosen the nut to put on the blade, the owners manual said anti clockwise and I've even tried my impact driver on it and it still won't loosen.

    The rafter hook works quite well on rafters. Not so well on metal sawhorses... That why its not a sawhorse hook.

    I build custom houses and I have cut just about everything with that very saw. The thing is durable, pretty powerful, and I have been very happy with it. I'd say the only drawback in my opinion is slightly less torque than the chorded Milwaukee.
