"From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her debut studio album, ...Baby One More Time (1999). It was released on December 14, 1999 by Jive Records as the fifth and final single from the album. After Spears recorded an unused song from Toni Braxton and sent it through Larry Rudolph to several labels, executives from Jive Records commented that it was very rare to hear someone so young who could deliver emotional content and commercial appeal, appointing the singer to work with producer Eric Foster White. The teen pop ballad was written and produced by White, and features Spears singing about the loss of a first love and how breaking up can be hard.
I haven't heard this song in over a decade but, somehow, from somewhere deep within my subconscious I was able to sing along to the entire song. Also, just react to what you want to. I'm just living for all the flashbacks down memory lane.
This is her real singing voice which is much deeper. Throughout her career she was encouraged to use the baby kinda voice that she uses, I'm assuming they thought it was more sexy or marketable... idk But she rarely sings in this deeper tone even though it's true to what her voice really sounds like.
i was 20 haha i still love it. I even play it on guitar in pubs and people love it. I end my gigs with this song....and girls come sing along. Life is so good hehehehe love from Sydney.
It’s funny that you say she sounds older, this was Britney’s first album and I reckon she hasn’t mastered the baby voice properly yet so some of the tracks, including this one still has a lot of Britney’s natural deep voice on it. You should listen to ‘Soda pop’ and ‘The beat goes on’ from the same album (Baby one more time). Britney hadn’t yet gone full baby voice and sounds amazing.
Eric Foster White wrote this song. He wrote a bunch of songs in Britney's debut album, and wrote songs for Whitney Houston and the Backstreet Boys as well.
OMG!!!!! Another one I haven't heard in forever yet still know the words. I swear I used to live and breathe Britney. I remember being "heart broken" over a kid at my school. Who I just had a crush on ...yea. Sad. Just sad. But yup. The heart break life gives you IS REAL 🙃😩
Lol 🤣 So funny "you know this is going to be sad because she's sitting in a tire swing looking depressed"🤣🤣🤣 omg too funny And embarrassingly yes this was a song I loved and I did cry to it..hahaa
For sure was 18 I remember having a lot of same feelings in this song. Was right when I went to college and seeing the video just as I was leaving to go to school and fully on my own didn’t have anyone go with me there
Completely forgot about this song. This is when I loved her. My first tapes, yes tapes I ever bought was her and NSYNC's first albums. When I finally got a cd player I bought them on cd along with Christina Aguilera.
That one girl is me back when i was a teenager. I had a crush on this one boy and we were together for a short time but later on. He just dumped me in middle school. His one words were "I dont like the way you are anymore." I was sad and devastated. He attended my middle school and high school. He never again spoke to me. He just ignored and never apologized. This song reminds me of the past.
Hey Billy, can you react to "Leavin' " by Jesse McCartney because everytime i hear you say "and we're back, and we're back, and we're back" it makes me think of this song.
The guy is the same actor from the 'Born To Make You Happy' Video. She was 17-18 at the time and her christina and justin timberlake were all in mickeys mouseketeers also my first real heart break was at like 14 but dating your best friends older brother only goes so far lol
"Whose whispering in my ear?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dude, I love watching your reactions. Most reactors I only listen to the songs I know & like, but with you & Half & Jai I watch every damn video.
@@jurajvivana Wrong. From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her debut studio album, ...Baby One More Time (1999). It was released on December 14, 1999 by Jive Records as the fifth and final single from the album. She was born December 2, 1981.
@@irenecoleman8375 you said that album came out in December 15, 1999 while she was 18 but that's wrong. Album came out in January 12, 1999, while she was 17.
Britney’s vocal ability on her first album (which this song is from) was much more of a powerful soul type of voice. After this albums release, her label put her through voice training for months because they thought she’d sell better singing with the more baby like voice (the distinct Britney sound everyone knows). If you watch her singing before she became famous you will see how powerful of a voice she had. Over time, being forced to sing in an unnatural way, her vocal chords were damaged some. Britney can still sing, but she sounds older on her first album because this was recorded before the “baby voice” idea was pursued, that is why the baby one more time album sounds much different than her following albums. You can clearly hear the change if you listen to her first album, then oops.. I did it again album. It’s very obvious. My favorite video is Crazy, which is a re-recorded version in the video to make it more of a “bop” so to speak. “You Drive me Crazy-The Stop Remix”. She was 17 by the time this video (from the bottom of my broken heart) was filmed, 16 when baby one more time, sometimes and crazy were filmed. She was a young teen when she recorded the album, at 15. It’s insane, she’s lived most of her life behind a camera lens.. she was a sophomore in high school living in Louisiana when she was signed to Jive records, and I believe this video is meant to be a depiction of her, leaving her hometown and saying goodbye to her then “love” Reggie from Kentwood, Louisiana. Cedar Springs in this video, is representative of “Kentwood” which is also a type of spring water. She literally went from rags to a world wide superstar overnight. The ultimate American dream for every teenage girl at the time.
Definitely her first three albums you can definitely hear her natural alto voice I love her natural singing voice. I mean don’t get me wrong her baby boys had some good hits. But I just loved hearing her natural vocals how she truly sounds. You should go and rate some videos from the Mickey Mouse club you will hear her natural saying boys on there. And since I grew up listening to her is 10 years old I can definitely say that I’ve grown up listening to her and I love her original sounding boys compared to now.
Yes, this song was from her debut album. Her real voice was more grown than the label wanted her to sound. The industry really destroyed Britney's life. #FreeBritney
I love how people are so quick to criticize Brit’s voice when in actuality she was pressed to sing with her baby voice rather than her real vocals. Her low register is her natural tone and being in vocal training singing low is just as difficult as singing in those amazing high range vocals like Christina & Mariah. I really don’t remember Madonna, Cher, or J-Lo being critiqued so heavily. Brit has it all, voice, style, beauty, talent, and overall stage presence.
That guy was a guest star I think on Dawsons Creek. Ive seen him before in something else. I cannot remember his name. Britney Spears was 16 years old in Baby One More Time. I think she was around 17-18 years old in this video. Id have to look it up to be sure. Britney was always so kind to her fans back then even though she was under alot of pressure. I feel sorry for she was mistreated and hounded. It was so much worse back then with paparazzi. Back then we did not have the luxury of having social media and facebook and youtube. We could not watch movies, music videos or old iconic live performances in concert or at award shows on our cell phones like we can now. Shoot alot of us teens did not even own a computer. If we did we mainly played games on it. Not every teen had the internet. Infact there was not much of an appeal for it like there is now that we have social media and youtube. We may have txted each other some but minutes cost money and txting used it up fast so alot of us teens only got a cell phone when we turned 16 for emergency reasons or fast phone calls. I had a Nokia cell phone and I was constantly running out of minutes. I had a job and paid for my own minutes. So I did not txt much. I also worked odd jobs before I was 16. I babysat and mowed lawns and washed and cleaned cars and clean houses and painted and wall papered. And I saved my money and when I was 16 I got a regular job and I bought my first car. I had a single mother so I told her that I wanted to learn to stand on my own two feet. So I paid for my own car and my ownn car insurance and paid for minutes on my phones. My car was a Nissan Sentra 4 door and silver. I liked it. It was very nice looking and back then not all cars that was a few years older had a built in cd player. Only richy rich kids with more expenisive cars or trucks had a uilt in cd player in their car. But most of us had only a cassette tape player. But none f us really minded because we were use to casette tapes and they still sold them in stores back then. Cd's were still new to some of us and we bought oth cd's and cassettes tapes. I also remember the jous of going into Movie Gallery and renting a movie and renting super ninteno games. It as expensive to rent just movie for the night. So even though I miss Movie Gallerys and Block Buster since they shut down. And we were renting vhs tapes. I kind of miss seeing them in stores. But dvds are better. But I still collect vhs tapes especially of old movies hard to find on dvd. I still prefer Netlfix over Movie Gallery. Its cheaper and you dont have late fees which is great. But I miss having access to renting old Ninteno games. But I have almost every game console there ever was both new and old. I even won the new taco bell x box! Me and my hubby love collecting both new and old games. Also, me and my friends wrote each other letters all the time in the mail. We would even draw a picture sometimes and add it inside with our letter. And we did it as kids and also as teens. Same thing with the stars. Stars were not easily accessible. I did not even have the internet growing up. I was 18 years when I got my first laptop. And that was back in the mid 2000's. LOL! In order to keep up with the stars we watched alot of mtc TRL so we could watch music videos. And it was annoying bevause they conatantky had somebody calling in while the music video was playing and they were fan firling over the music video. And the entire time Im trying to hear the artist sing over their yacking and Im like, "Girl seriously! Would you please shut up! Im trying to hear Limp Biscuit sing about what he did for the Nookie." LOL! We also had POP UP VIDEO. I LOVED that because number 1 nobody else was talking. And random thing would pop up in the video talking about cool fact about the video. Sometimes Britney Spears or N'Sync or Backstreet Boys would show up at these events and sing and talk so that was another way we followed the stars. That and magazines. The paparazzi was actually way worse back then. That is how come some stars like Britney had a mental breakdown eventually. You can hardly blame them. It was much much harder on them back then. Stars had fan clubs of course and you could write to them. So we often sent letters to the stars. But its not like we had facebook and could go to their webpage and maybe get a rare opportunity to post something and them respond back too you. I just spoke to one of my favorite Authors the other day on facebook. It still amazes me that something like this is actually possible. Because back then, stars was as far from us as Mars. LOL! Unless we got a rare opportunity to meet them or go back stage or get an autograph. Now Im not sure if you know this but Britney Spears can not only sing and dance. She can write some songs and play the piano. There is a youtube video of her playing one of her songs she wrote. It was called "Everytime". She wrote that song for Justin Timberlake after their breakup. And Juatin Timberlake wrote Cry Me A River for Britney after their break up. There is even a woman in his music video that looks like Britney. Cause she is the one he is singing too. Britney, Justin Timberlake and his N'Sync band member J.C. and actor from the Notebook Ryan Gosling and pop sing and diva Christina Aguilera later The Voice Judge were all on the Mickey Mouse Club together. Watch a youtube video of Britney and Justin singing together back when they were Mouseketeers. After she left that show and went to high school she fell inlove with a boy. She was a teen and had dreams of becoming a professional singer. But he did not have plans on leaving his home town like she did. So in order to pursue her career she had to let him go. It broke her heart and this video you just watched "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" is another song Britney wrote that is telling about her first love. The guy in the music video was from Dawsons Creek but he also favors her first love. I saw his picture long ago with a younger teen Britney. Yes things were different back then in how we talked with one another. I notice people or teens txt more than they actually talk to to someone and even the txt msgs are short sometimes. Its as if in some way having Social media has other things has for some people caused them to be socially distant to some people. I dont think Im explaining it well. I just know what it was like back then. And for me, I can see a big difference. Also in how teens act today. It seems to be much worse and the lack of discipline is causing these spoiled bulky bratty kids to grow into horrible and cruel adults. Ive witnessed it with many kids I knew personally and have watched grow up through the years. Im not saying everybody was more innocent and virtuous then. Though that was the case for alot of people. But it seems like the future into the future we go the less virtuous teens there are. I just think thats sad really. Even back then if we did something so shameful like drugs alcohol etc we would bring shame upon ourselves and family. Atleast in my family honour and virtue and principles meant something to us and to alot of my friends and family. Its something that I dont see much of these days. Unless people my age are raising their kids in church and believe also in discipline of bad behavior. That gives me some hope for the future lf some teens. We talked more with our friends on our home phone. Some of us had a seperate phone line and number on our home phone. I had a seperate number on mine and my mothers home phone. So of somebody was calling me it would ring twice. I saw Britney Spears in Concert a couple of times. I really liked her Oops I Did It Again Tour. I saw N'Sync in concert 2 times. I liked their No Strings Attached Tour. I saw Back Street Boys in concert in the late 90's and again in the 2000's. I saw LFO, 98%, Spice Girls, Matchbox 20, TLC, Destinys Child, Limp Biscuit, Emeniem, Nickleback, Metallica, Ronnie Milsap, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Brooks and Dunn, later I saw Jason Aldean, and several others over the years. There is so many great songs I could suggest for so many artists. But I encourage you to eventually cgeck out Alice in Chains hit music list. THEY HAVE SO MANY REAT SONGS! I encourage ou to react to their MTV UNPLUGGED concert. They sing alot of their hit songs, and they sound so great! Their lead singer Layne died years ago. He was an amazing singer. He did not lip sync in that unplugged video. No he is just seriously THAT good. So was Mariah Carey and Pearl Jam in their unplugged mtv performances. But alao watch the Alice and Chain videos. If you like war videos. Watch the music video for DOWN IN A HOLE. Rooster is another great song. Another reat song that envolves a soldier and his love is the duet song by Brad Paisley and Alisson Krauss. In Whiskey Lulluby. Check out Emeniem "Darkness" based on a true story about a shooting and read about the making of that video. The msg at the end is beautiful. Emeniem speaks and sings in the perspective of the shooter who was mentally unstable. His heart goes out to people with mental illness and those victims who were killed.
Ok so I wasn’t 8, 9, or 10…I was 15 and heartbroken after me and my first love broke up and yep, this was THE song. My sad tail even wrote out the lyrics to him in a letter 😂😂😂
Not true. They made her retrain her voice so she and Christina wouldn't be competing. Go listen to a video called " Britney Spears real singing voice. 💗

From this song, we know that her vocal is not a joke , it was on par with Christina. But sadly, they made her singing out of her range. I really love her old album.

Yessss she killed them vocals
I love Britney's true, lower vocal range in songs like this. Her pop ballads are always phenomenal, and this song really shows her range perfectly!
One of the reasons I love her older music so much (besides me growing up with it) is because it really showcases her natural vocals!
"From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her debut studio album, ...Baby One More Time (1999). It was released on December 14, 1999 by Jive Records as the fifth and final single from the album. This song was about her story before fame. It’s raw and geniune. No wonder she loved it more than most of her songs😌

That guy was not on Dawson’s creek
The guy looks like Kevin Zegers from the Airbud movie?
Eric Foster White wrote it.
Brittany Spears songs have always been a guilt pleasure but this song is the ONLY one I have no problem admitting I rock with 🤣
Britneys If You Seek Amy
You should do Christina Aguilera- I Turn to You

“I Remember” by Griffin House (veteran reacts)
Ok so I wasn’t 8, 9, or 10…I was 15 and heartbroken after me and my first love broke up and yep, this was THE song. My sad tail even wrote out the lyrics to him in a letter 😂😂😂
React to Avril Lavgine's "Losing Grip" :)
I won't judge you if you reacted to R Kelly "Ignition" remix.
she was 17 dawg....
Uhhh, this song came out when I was about 28 or 29
While she's never had the vocal range of someone like Christina Aguilera, she put on live shows people loved. Of course, Pink did it All 🎭
Not true. They made her retrain her voice so she and Christina wouldn't be competing. Go listen to a video called " Britney Spears real singing voice. 💗
Ps. I love Christina
I didn't have a middle school sweet heart
I had Saturday morning cartoons
Tucan Sam with ice cold milk
And PlayStation
I mean I would rather have has a sweet heart to break my heart but I didn't so
Metal Gear solid it was
In that and Intelligence Cube who remembers that fun game
From this song, we know that her vocal is not a joke , it was on par with Christina. But sadly, they made her singing out of her range. I really love her old album.
I I don't understand what what's going on did she break up with him did he break up with her can someone please tell me what's going on here
I'm pretty sure it's about her breaking up with her first boyfriend to go to LA and become a popstar
Britney was 16
this video is boring, watch I'm Slave 4 U.
One of the best 🔥🔥🔥
This song has more of her real vocals I love it
