I don't think you have to apologize for your family meals at all. The fact that you prepare hot, wholesome food daily is quite an accomplishment. Breakfast and lunch is grab and go for us too. I think a homemade dinner with the family is a perfect way to end a busy day. Have a blessed day!

I love how "transparent" you are and how you stick to YOUR families needs and lifestyle. I FOR SURE would never pick apart the things you do to raise your family of 5, because you have said it yourself many times THIS IS WHAT YOUR FAMILY DOES. #1- you don't HAVE to Blog, #2- I don't recall in ANY of your videos where you asked people for their input on YOUR families practices. I myself have a family of 4. I'm more than confident that over half of the people that criticize your practices probably buy\eat alot more processed foods than you do. I make most of my own food using fresh ingredients. I make my own bread from scratch, mashed potatoes, sauces etc. You are frugal, you are a SUPERWOMAN because you are a MOM!! I love your videos and have started using most of your grocery shopping practices. I look forward to more tips. God Bless!

I also keep veggie parts in the freezer. When I have tomatoes that are getting really soft and not as good for salads and such, I cut them into chunks, toss in olive oil and seasonings, then bake them in the oven for 30-45 minutes or so depending on the size. I let them cool and freeze them to use later in pasta dishes. Yum.

In France they have bread at EVERY meal. Often pasta, rice or another type of grain. Also often dairy (cheese or yoghurts)
A lot of veg & fruit too.
But "carbs" are not a big issue.
I don't cook from scratch nearly enough and watching you is very motivating!!
Your family is so very sweet but I hope they really do appreciate the way you give them a lovely home cooked meal each day - it's certainly not 'just what a mum does'. You're just a great mother!

First, I would like to mention that I really appreciate your videos! I'm a single mom with two teenage daughters and love to cook at home! Second, no need to explain yourself about your family's food choices! Two be honest, your family eats better than most Americans do! Nowadays, families eat out a lot through the week! Not healthy at all! Obesity is killing our children. And lastly number three, home cooking brings the family together at supper. America needs more mothers like you. God Bless you!

Amanda I love these "real" vlogs. Your family is wonderful & so gracious that we get to be a part of their & your private lives. Your vlogs make me feel so good & it saddens me that you feel the need to apologise for what you cook & serve (ie comments on too many carbs) Your family is eating good hot nutritious home cooked meals, there is definitely no room for negativity in my opinion. You keep doing your thing Mumma 👍🏻😘

Everyone has an opinion on diet and food. For what ever reason it has become accepted (not, in my opinion, acceptable but it isn't my place to say so :)) to tell everyone else their opinion and why others are wrong. Your family is healthy and happy so ignore those who don't like the way you feed them. Unless you ask for an opinion we should just keep ours to ourself.

Everyone has their own way to feed their family. The way I think of it they aren't cooking or buying your food. You do you and what works for you and your family. I'm just soooo impressed you can feed your family on $100.00 a month. Meat a month cost me 180.00 a month from Costco.

I eat oatmeal most days for breakfast. I use a spoon of homemade jam to flavor it if I'm out of bananas. Don't worry about the critics when u eat on a budget u do what u can

Thank you for your support :) I use homemade jam sometimes, too. I was thinking about using peach the other day, but the peanut butter is so filling and warm on cold days.

Thank you for this great series of videos, so nice of you to commit time and effort to do these. Really nice to see how other families manage their day (esp US families as some of our foods in the UK are a bit different). Going to try and bake some bread this weekend (I've never tried before) and the peanut butter + porridge (our oatmeal) is definitely on the list.

Hi! I just found your channel last week, I enjoy watching your videos! My family struggles with being frugal, but your channel has given me some great ideas. I was wondering, how long have you and your family been living a frugal lifestyle? Do you ever find it easier to overspend or do take out? I have that problem, and I'm just curious of your thoughts!

    • @TheBealles

We have been living really frugally since I started homeschooling. That was 11 or so years ago. Yes, we find it easy to overspend and get take out. Sometimes, I really want to, and we even give in on occasion. I just try to remember my goals and that keeps me on track.

There is nothing wrong with having desserts. I do most every day and I lost over 100's and have kept it off almost 3 years now. I eat a balance meals every day. ETA: I am in excellent health per my doctor and blood work. TY ;)

You are so clever! It never, ever occurred to me to pre-bake jacket potatoes! My daughter absolutely loves to eat these, loaded up with whatever strikes her fancy, but she is so intimidated to cook them herself. I have to admit I lose patience with her on this subject, since she is almost 18 and needs to learn how to cook. I explained how to cook them in the microwave, but she is fearful about forgetting to poke holes and having them explode (???) So the end result is the potatoes languish and spoil!! I think I am going to set aside time when she is home and have her work with me to cook at batch of potatoes in the oven. That way she can warm them up in the microwave but not fear "exploding potato" mayhem!

Don't let the critics get you! Plus carbs are not the enemy, fat and sugar are. New science shows that starches like potatoes are actually nutrient dense and good for us. But science changes it's mind about food every year it seems LOL I love your videos. We do left overs too. a favorite at our house is baked potatoes with left overs as possible toppings. For example we might use left over taco meat as a bake potato topping. Or left over bbq chicken as a topping. it's a good way to use up smaller amounts of flavored meat.

I wish I knew how to link to a podcast because this past weeks post on the Nutrition Diva's podcast would be right up your alley. Her guest speaker was explaining how the way your food makes you feel is a better option than the all organic perfect diet some people eat. She further explains how some people feel like they've let themselves down if they can't be perfect with their meals and how it's counterproductive on an emotional health level. You eat what works for you and your family appear to be extremely happy and healthy. Thank you for all of your sharing!

wow.what a productive day you had ! I would take the gravy and put it over toast or egg noodles for a meal. Here is a quick meal.... I make hamburger pie, you fry up hamburger, season it the way you want then drain peas and put in and make mashed potatoes and put over the top, yummy and quick and economical. love the family sitting down together,we need more of this. keep up the videos.

Would love your sweet potato recipe. Seems like whenever I'm in the mood for one, it's last minute so I throw it in the microwave to quickly cook it and then eat it like a baked potato with salt n butter. Never tried canned before. Seems super convenient! Loved the meal....I could eat everything but the stuffing...YUM!

    • @TheBealles
      @TheBealles  7 років тому +1

Basically, I just melt about two tablespoons of butter in a pan, throw in an equal amount of brown sugar, let them melt together, then throw in the sweet potatoes. It's kind of like a candied sweet potato casserole, but on the stovetop and without the marshmallows.
