My friend and i were at his show the evening before, and we had agreed to call out 'Broken Bicycles' if he asked for requests. When he did, we were ready. We shouted out our chosen song in perfect unison from the 4th row. Tom looked surprised, and growled something about how, 'you are all working very well together this evening.' He didn't play it, but I was flabbergasted when he teased it on the piano at the end of this interview. You can hear him here 8:03, starting to play it and then saying, 'no, no, let's not do that.' But he DID play it that night on the second night at the Paramount. My friend and I were extatic! He clearly was playing our request. FOR US! As far as I know, he hasn't played it live since then. Thanks for the great memory, Tom! 💙💙💙
If we could have more Tom radio interviews and play, this world would be a better place. If Waits has a natural habitat outside of the studio and the stage and maybe some movie scenes, this is it.
"Picture in a frame" is so beautiful. I heard this song after my dog died and its always made me think of him ever since. Tom sure can move you with his music.
I remember having difficulty finding his recordings in the 70's and 80's because different record stores would put them in different categories - jazz, rock, sometimes even folk. Amazing artist. Thank you for sharing.
anyone know if there is an address to which fans can send mail? really want to write this guy a letter. so much gratitude and love for the work music words Waits has shared 🖤🖤🖤🕷️🗝️🕸️
The best, they broke the mould when they made you Tom🖤
They didn’t use a mold to make Tom. They just poured him out and let him form however he wanted to.

This is the music that helps keep my weary heart alive.
the interview being punctuated by those high octave "tom waits scale" notes is so perfect!
I was at the show the night before this interview and it was one of the best concerts of my life.

So good upload . Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis and Kentucky Avenue are my favorite songs, both on Blue Valentine.

I'm hoping these recent posts are a sign of kicking up the old press machine for a potential new release.
its a shame he is no longer playing or making new albums .... but everything must end some day.
Yeah too bad Beethoven didn't leave more music either 😂
I have a feeling Tom has at least one more album in him. Maybe not a tour , and I wouldn't blame him, but...
If he would do another radio interview or two, we would all be the better as well.
He had a live on stage appearance some months ago but few people saw that
